Yes, that's the solution. But if it doesn't seem to work, just type "killall Finder" and it should be good.

I must have done a lot of killall Finders and killall Docks before I tried the lsregister command. So I'm assuming simply relaunching the Finder doesn't help. And also, I restarted and that didn't fix it either.

Well anyways, here's something cool I found about Notification Center:

Click and swipe right on a banner to immediately dismiss it. Just like iOS's notification banners.

Sorry, I must not have been clear enough. I know just killing finder doesn't do it, but after having entered the command in your thread - nothing happened for me until after I killed Finder. It was like it cleared the 'cache' and showed the change that had been made.

I don't really know how to explain it :)

Oh right sorry. I misunderstood. But this does seem to be a bug. I'm surprised more people don't have this problem since my brother did the upgrade yesterday and he had duplicates too.

Automatically Reduce Brightness Pref Gone

I notice that the option to "Automatically reduce brightness before display goes to sleep" has been removed from the Energy Saver prefs pane, annoying, I used to like that option un-ticked, as the display dimming irritates me.

Catastrophe.

How is it fail? It's more intuitive, which I must say I've come to believe is something Apple value highly (despite hiding away certain options like they lost money every time someone used them).

Contacts, Calendar, Reminders, Note, Mail, Messages... I wonder if even iPhoto will turn into Photos in the future, like in iOS.
Not a fail @ Apple. A fail at me for not realising for ages :p

Delete key no longer goes back a page in Safari. And as others have mentioned, the menubar no longer shows how much time is remaining for the charge. :( Also, the battery is fully charged, on AC power but says 95%. Anyone else?

I have the same battery issue - but mine is showing 99%. Perhaps a full battery cycle will fix that?

Calendar Gets Week Numbers

All you North Americans might not understand the significance of this, but as an European I’m extremely happy about this feature. Took ’em long enough!

Week numbers!

Even the mini-calendar in the lower left gets numbers. Additionally, all different views (day, week, month, year) get week numbers.

The numbers have to be activated in the preferences which is a bit sad. What would be more Apple-like and cooler is if this preference were part of the language/region settings: automatically activated in countries in which week numbers are commonly used, deactivated in countries which don’t use the numbers.

In Europe week numbers are frequently used. My university, for example, has some seminars which are every second week and it uses “uneven” (week) or “even” (week) to tell you which week is the correct one. Week numbers are also frequently used for project management purposes (“We want to be finished with this in week 35!”).

I just realized the fullscreen button on QT was moved to the top right corner of the window, instead of on the controls. I'm probably slow discovering this, lol. It's going to take some getting used to.

Has anybody noticed that .flv video support has been dropped in ML? In preview videos no longer open. QuickTime won't either...

I really like how the loading bar in Safari bolts across like that. :D

It's hard to tell what apps are open with the new dock. You really gotta look.

You can switch to the 2D dock (that appears on the side) with this command:

defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES

and then:

killall Dock

App indicators are MUCH easier to spot, and IMO it looks nicer.

Mountain Lion's latest WTF moment just happened a few minutes ago when I opened my Pictures folder. I've always had my setting set to Arrange by Name, and to the system, it thought it was. I had to change it to something else, and then back to 'by name' to fix it.

This one is really LITTLE, Different dock resize arrow

the dock resize arrow is in white, rather than the usual two way black resizing handle available throughout the OS. The mouse pointer doesnt show up in screenshots, dont know how to share the image
