Control+Option+T to bring up special characters doesn't seem to work i dev preview 2. Strange.

The hotkey has been changed to Control+Command+Space!

Also, the new special characters popup is now used in the Messages app.

I don't think that was in DP1?

It was in DP1 for me.

This is one of the most handiest features for me. Should have been there from day one for ML.

In ML, if I had Messages full screen, I would have to exit full screen to access those emojis.

Now it works great!

Why do you say that? Lion is still getting updated with 'security' updates, and still runs the latest Safari, iTunes, etc.... It's Snow Leopard that I fear Apple will stop updating in one or two years (which is not the same as 'killing').

1/3 of Macs still run Snow Leopard... let's hope not!

odd... mine doesn't look like that-

For me it looks like this lol:

also, finder basically unusable for me. In DP1 I not had any problem with it, but in DP2 almost everything fails in finder: drag and drop not working, desktop (the area with background and icons) freezes, the list view is empty, the overflow list area is empty as well, but these things are only visually, so I can right click on the empty area and the menu pops up for a file. It's a mess.

edit: dock just got frozen, finder window opened ~5sec after I click on it's icon... and dock still frozen ._. btw I updated in MAS to DP2, maybe a clean install would be better.

Not sure if this new in DP2 and if mentioned before, but I've noticed a big improvement in the way Safari handles its history. When swiping back, it still reloads the page but the way they've implemented it, it happens in a considerably more transparent way. The refresh no longer displays a blank page before reloading; it preserves the previous page and just adds in the new changes to the specific parts of the page that have now changed.

Launchpad and Expose is no longer an all or nothing affair when activating with the trackpad. For example if you pinch outward with 4 fingers to show the desktop without taking your hand off the trackpad, the amount the windows move outward is proportional to how much your fingers move.

The overall movement of the windows have some inertia and some ease in/out motion.

I can confirm this is on DP1 as well, but not on 10.8.

How do spaces (regular desktop spaces, not full-screen apps) behave when you drag them from one monitor to another if the two monitors are different resolutions from each other. Do the windows get resized automatically? Or does it overflow the edge of the screen if the receiving monitor is smaller/leave an unfilled space if the receiving monitor is larger?

Does anybody know if it's possible to disable that horrible bouncing effect when scrolling down inside a folder? It's especially annoying when doing it inside the Applications folder from the dock.

Are you referring to the grid-based Stacks of the Apps folder on your Dock...?

Indeed I am. When clicking applications folder in the dock (folder set to Grid view) when I scroll down I get this pesky bouncing effect.

It is possible, at least in ML was possible. I don't remember how though.
