One thing I'd like to know more about is 'AppNap'.... I like this resource tool which I think is a steroid enhanced add on for the activity monitor?

How long will Apple keep supporting ML (OS updates) before they kill it like they annihilated Lion?

One more two dot update and ML is obsolete. Oh, they might still do other updates but the point yeah, its almost seen the end of its life, Thank the Lord!

hmmm.. wasn't keen on ML anyway, did an update to my old 17" mac as SL was "retired". I think Mavericks will go on that one first (if my old MBP machine is compatible).

Every machine that supports ML will support Mavericks.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

no, you are correct, and i heard that from mavericks the price will be free like iOS. Or i hear it wrong and it is only for those who will buy a new mac starting with macbooks air , so any mac with wifi ac :)

Hey guys!

I just saw the capture of Safari 7 in the Apple webpage, and realized that the three window buttons, the red, yellow and green ones, are slightly bigger than the ones on Lion / Mountain Lion.

Here are the Mavericks window buttons:

And here, the current Mountain Lion buttons:

You guys, the ones trying Mavericks beta, have you realised this?

PS: Sorry if my english is poor. I will thank any grammatical advice, even by PM, since I don't use to speaking or writting in english and my wish is to keep improving ;)

Actually, there is no change within the Beta, but if what you say is true, there may come a small change or two to Aqua.

For their promo artwork, they tend to use more vibrant-looking buttons than what the OS really has. The Messages description in the Mountain Lion promo here uses the same style.

I like the promo buttons too - it would be beautiful if they really existed :)

Oh, what a pity :(

I prefered the bigger buttons, like Snow Leopard and previous.
I thought, for a moment, part of the "deforstallization" was returning the Aqua buttons to its previous size.

I wish they keep the grainy grey texture of the windows' bars, and not make them plain grey. I like that texture, very very much.

How do you get iPhone push notifications to pop in mavericks ? That was supposed to be one of the new features ?

----------

Can you Remote Desktop with windows 8 machines now? Natively ?

How about that brush metal feel on Tiger...? :D:D:D

xDDD

My first mac came with Snow Lep, but I certainly felt something special each time I looked at some Tiger screenshot. During my first days with my mac, I tried to return that brushed metal look to the system interface, (called carbon, right?) and I noticed that was impossible.

Finally, some day, I installed Tiger on a Pentium 4 PC I had over here, some sort of hackintosh, and was quite exciting to see that brushed metal again. Then, I found it pretty useless xD (basically, no software available), but for some time, I was able to return to Tiger days

But seriously, I really like that grainy texture present in Lion/Mountain, and hope they keep it for a long time.

Nevertheless, I think the next OS X right after Mavericks will carry a lot of visual changes... Can't wait!

You can read here a bit about what OS X uses OpenGL for. The idea is supporting the newer version will lead to better GPU speeds for apps that use OpenGL.

What do you think it means? It means 10.9 supports OpenGL 4.1.

If he knew what it meant, he would not have asked one would assume yes?

Of course if your intent was just to be a condescending smart alek... mission accomplished.

Can the OP please do what the iOS 7 all the little things thread did and post all the new features and tidbits of Mavericks Please and THANK-YOU

Nope, an unintentional side effect, I really did want to know what he thought it meant since the article made sense to me after seeing it. No harm intended.

Why did Apple go back with the old Lion scrollbars?

I liked how the scroll bars expanded when you moused over (in ML).
