Quick update.

Battery life on my 6s+, has improved for the past week. I no longer see excessive battery drain.
I have been constantly texting all day long with multiple people, I’ve been on the phone making multiple phone calls over 2 hours combined and battery life has been stellar to my surprise. Including emailing, websurfing and using multiple email apps. Including on and off 1 hour of Imgur app usage.

It’s past 1am and I’m at 54%.

There have been few heekups with some native apps that I have not seen before. But overall everything seems to be A OK.

35 hrs standby with 4hrs 10 minutes of usage still 43% battery left, normal usage (7hrs in aeroplane mode) 11.4 official , i think this is pretty good.

Here’s another data point:

My girl’s 6S has been having strange battery drain issues over the last week. Her usage and standby times were all messed up and didn’t make sense. We thought it might have been a bug with Google Maps but that hypothesis was incorrect. Of note: original battery was replaced by Apple for free about 8 months ago due to the shutdown bug.

I spoke with Apple over chat today and they did their testing and didn’t find anything wrong. During the chat, about 20 or 30 minutes, the battery drained from 40 to 26% and the wheel was spinning next to the WiFi symbol almost constantly. Odd. I remembered this thread from browsing so I reset the Network Settings and connected to my 2.4ghz WiFi network as suggested. Usage and standby times are working as expected without any previous drain as seen before.

No issues on my 8 (5ghz WiFi) with both on 11.4.

TLDR: Resetting Network Settings and connecting to a 2.4ghz WiFi network seems to have fixed the issue. We’ll chalk this up as a bug.

My phone seems to be draining quicker on the latest beta. There is constantly a spinning circle near the top where the service is displayed, another poster noted the same. It’s as if it’s searching?

I’ve also noticed that the problem has to do with my WiFi. When I’m not home my battery level is really good..
but I’m not connected in any 5 ghz net. So I don’t know what i could do.. I tried resetting the network but it didn’t work at all

iPad 10.5 Pro - from cca 50% battery to 10% extreme rapid drain. Browsing with 5GHz WiFi only.

I've noticed its somehow related to being "home" and probably "wifi" related. (I can't say for sure its 5Ghz, but thats what I'm on).

I've lost 25% battery today with only 10mins of use and 2hrs of standby. Out of the house, on cell networks usage is reasonable. I can't believe Apple hasn't yet acknowledged this. I can literally watch percentage point go down as you do simple things like check email....checking an email may take 3% of battery each time.

I think perhaps someone should start a google spreadsheet so we can track out specs, there has to be a commonality somewhere....its strange because also updated 3 iPads and they don't have battery issues, only my 6s is affected.

I totally agree with you. The fact that Apple doesnt give any answer at all makes me skeptic about the problem. Is there any possibility that apple thinks that that's not a problem and that 11.4 simple drains the battery?

I have no issues with drain as long as I don't use WiFi.

What does drain at that point is my data plan because I'm using LTE all the time. I have a 6 GB plan and have used up most of it already this month. Fortunately, I have some rollover. My normal usage is < 1 GB.

I tried resetting network settings but it doesn't help.

hopefully they are going to update this version...which is so awful :( im feeling like i have no iphone when it shuts off at 5pm

Is anyone, who did not downgrade to 11.3.1, brave enough to try beta 4? We are nearing the GM version, and I am still hopeful that Apple is going to fix this problem in 11.4.1. I would test it myself, but I managed to downgrade just in time... ;-)

I'm willing to try it. Frankly my phone is quasi-unusable as is...at home I must keep it plugged in after 1 or 2 hrs of use, so I can't see how much worse beta software could be.

Will post results.

I'm someone who normally has outstanding battery life - but I've noticed somewhat less on latest release. Not a problem really for me but it is different than last release

Fairly early to post results, I've only had the 11.4.1 (Beta 4) update installed for a few hours...but I notice an improvement in battery life.

I charged to 100% and now its been on standby for 3 hours, with 20 mins of usage. Battery is currently at 93% - which is head and shoulders above my performance on regular 11.4 - I could literally watch my battery drop by 4 or 5% just doing simple things like searching the web for 30 seconds. Also the unit feels much cooler to the touch.

May be still too early to give the final word, but tonight should tell. So far since I've updated to 11.4 I've never been able to get through a whole night on battery. Even starting at 100% the unit would be totally dead by 6:30am. I will monitor tonight and post results.

I have unlimited data and I actually never use WiFi even when at home, so for me it’s specifically this beta on the iPhone SE. Although since resetting network settings in settings, the spinning dotted circle of doom has stopped and that seems to have helped a lot.

Following up on my post from yesterday:

The 6S battery continues to drain on 2.4ghz as well. Bummer so it must be an issue with WiFi. I'm tempted to install 11.4.1 PB to see if that fixes this issue but if 11.4.1 is right around the corner, I'm not going to worry about it.

Just reset my SE to factory default. It's still on 11.4 so I decided to do a little test. I charged it to 100% and then let it sit idle for exactly one hour. When I checked usage it said 34 mins out of the 1 hour. This is with pretty much nothing installed other than what comes on the phone. No emailed addresses added. No additional apps installed. I am connected to Wifi. It's no wonder the phone lost 26% battery in a six hour period.

It's funny how they still haven't fixed the age old issue of Total being incorrectly named Standby. As evidenced by your case, total amount spent off the charger was 1hr, with 30 minutes out of that being some activity of the phone. Saying that the phone was 1 hour on Standby and ALSO had 30 mins of activity is just incorrect and misleading. This would mean you left it off the charger for 1hr30mins which wasn't the case.

Beta 4 seems to have resolved the battery drain for me. Battery drain overnight was minimal.

Very happy to report that battery drain for me overnight was from 93% to 83%, which was on par with my performance before the whole 11.4 debacle. Seems to me they fixed it...I hope it also resolves issue for others since it practically rendered my iPhone unusable (was having to charge 2 or 3 times per day).

That sounds very promising indeed. Thank you very much for having been our guinea pig! :) Can you keep us updated in case anything changes? I am not going to install the beta, but the final version as soon as it drops.

Do we know when the final version drops?
