My drainage is happening back and forth on my devices. Sometimes it's my iPad and sometimes it's my 7+. But today it was really bad. Went to sleep at 3 AM, 7+ was at 97%, left it unplugged because I was charging the iPad. Woke up at 8 AM and my 7+ was at 56%!

I hope iOS 12 cures all the issues of 11 because it seems as though each version on iOS 11 gets worst and worst!

10.4.1 public beta 2 is working great for me.

Maybe enroll your phone in the beta program to fix the issue in the short term.

It was dumb of me to update my perfectly fine parents' phone to 11.4 - I think switching them over to beta software is only going to compound my mistake!:) They're older, they don't need me to be messing any more with their phones.

I didn't restore my dad's phone as I intended because yesterday, he reported the battery drain was normal, a day after it drained rapidly. That seems to fit with what some others are reporting in this thread - it drains fast one day, then is fine the next. It also seems like restoring isn't a guaranteed fix since some are saying the drain continues or comes back after a restore. I think in my parents' case, the best thing is to manage and live with the inconsistent battery drain until the official, non-beta 11.4.1 is released. Although I see a couple people saying the drain continues with 11.4.1 beta, it seems like the vast majority are saying 11.4.1 beta resolves the problem. Hopefully 11.4.1 beta will be tweaked more and completely fix this for everyone when released.

Hello everyone,
i am new here and i just cant believe why the performance of my SE is so bad. I bought the phone one week before, and as soon i set my iphone up it was written that i can update to 11.4
So i did!
i have no experience with previous versions, but i unplug my phone at 100% at 8am in the morning, and without any dramatic usage im getting 0% at 17.00.
Is this logic? is it possible that my phone needs replacement? Even my iphone 5s's battery was much better than that! im really disappointed. I diactivated location and stuff but still !!!! even when i dont use it it will fall like 4-5% ! when is this thing going to be solved? its so irritating! at least im not the only one whos facing that kind of probs.
Thank you everyone for your time reading!

Same here with 6s. The battery drain come and goes. When draining, low power mode doesn’t help.

Apple has really mastered the art of sucking.

At least it's getting some press.

Macrumors needs to write an article on this issue!!

So are we all sure that it’s WiFi that’s causing this?

According to the articles above, it's not clear that WiFi is the issue, although in my case, turning off WiFi appears to make the phone usable. Unfortunately, because WiFi is dynamically enabled, I have to be "on it" and remember to keep disabling it wherever I go. Perhaps the people reporting that disabling WiFi isn't the issue aren't actually being diligent about checking/disabling it all the time.

You can disable it from settings and that should keep it disabled until you re-enable it.

Thanks. Didn't know there was a difference between disabling it in the control center vs settings.
Control Center is basically just disconnect (as of iOS 11), while settings is basically disable.

I was wondering why on my iPhone X, if my phone is connected to 2.4 GHz WiFi (my Asus RT-AC68U router), the battery drain even with the phone is in standby mode seemed to be a tad high. But when I connect to 5 GHz WiFi, the battery drain is quite a bit lower when the phone is in standby mode. Hopefully, Apple addresses this with iOS 11.4.1 Beta 3.

its about time that Apple tell us something about that massive battery drain that takes place.
Im plugging my phone on the charger 2 times a day.. i've realised that low battery mode helps a little bit but still ...
how long is this problem going on ?
because i bought my phone one week before and i was schocked! even with my 5s the battery leasts until the night (but it doesnt have 11.4)
[doublepost=1529056796][/doublepost]Today’s experiment : I put my SE on flight mode and the percentage stayed the same , but the phone was on flight mode.

I’ll add my experience to the thread.

iPhone 7 128 w/ 84% battery capacity << my phone.

Generally I’m experiencing way more battery drain on 11.4 when 11.3 seemed to really stabilise things.

Using a web browser or watching video seems to drain power faster than it ever has done - especially if I’m on 4g.

Another little anecdote:

The other day, I was on Spotify with the screen turned off & WiFi off too (not just disconnected), lower power mode active and streaming spotify via 4g on automatic quality settings.

After about 40 minutes of this I’d gone through around 20 percent of battery.

And even more damning:

From the beginning of me starting to write this post and typing fairly fast on the soft keyboard, I’ve gone from 92% down to 88%.

That’s losing 5 percent in less than 10 minutes.

For the last 40 minutes, my phone has:

- been on lower power mode
- WiFi is turned off (not disconnected)
- BT is set to not accept new connections - my watch is connected
- and I’m on 4g
- and I’m using safari to write this post
- and just before this I spent about a minute in messages and sent one message. I had two messages come in I’m the time I’ve been writing this post.

This is ridiculous. Something is clearly wrong.

And now I’m down to 87%.

I can’t wait to update to the public beta for 12. Anything must be better than this.

So are we all sure that it’s WiFi that’s causing this?

WiFi both at home and office/public make no difference to my battery problem with 11.4 and a 6s with a good battery.

For me it's still Location Services. If they are totally disabled via the first toggle in Privacy settings the drain is vastly reduced but is still worse than it was prior to the 11.4 update. Turn on Location Services and I can watch the percentage tick down by about 1% every 10 to 15 seconds. I don't think it's actually using that much energy because the phone would be warm, to say the least, but the software thinks it is and will shut the phone down when it gets near 0%.

Yes, more press, and Hello! Apple? This is a software issue. Please push out an update for this ASAP.

I’ve done a factory reset and restored from back up so let’s see how it goes.

Fingers crossed this helps.

50 percent of the time it seems to ie some sort of setting gets garbled on an update and 50 percent of the time it doesn’t do anything as the software bug is so bad.

Let’s hope that this time it’s the former.

I joined this forum just to discuss this issue, however it seems to have resolved itself (for now) and I've not had the battery drain problem on my 6s at all this week. When I first installed 11.4 the very first night drained my battery to 2% as well as the second night. It became more sporadic after the first two days and seems to have resolved itself completely. Since it was too late to downgrade, I did nothing to accomplish this.

my phone's battery is still draining like crazy.
from 8pm -> 100% and then 17.00-> 10% with a little bit of usage (whatsapp,viber,instagram)

I installed the update iOS 11.4 and now my battery is draining at an alarming rate. I did not have these issues before this update.

Please fix this issue as I have read others having the same problem.

I have an iphone 6.

This is so very irritating.

Same situation here, both with a one year old SE and a recently battery replaced 6.
Both used to hold on to 50-30% at the end of the day, having been charged during the night (no heavy user apart form some Apple Music + Podcasts).

Now on 11.4 they barely make it though the day. Around 9PM both phones will be nearing 10% or even shutting themselves off. Quite a contrast with the previous stable version. I also noticed two days ago my 6 (the one which battery was recently replaced) already in low power mode dropping percentage points just on stand-by without anything running.

I downloaded IOS 11.4 last week. Since thet time My Iphone 6s runs very hot, when view a 15 second
viideo clip, I noticed the battery life is SHORTER, and it drains power faster ( even though all my apps
are closed). When I Charge the battery it does not charge to 100% and the phone is hot to the touch.
I find that I have to charge it more often ( twice a day) than used to.
Does anyone else have battery issues with IOS 11.4? thanks

Just adding my voice that I have severe battery drain on my SE. I also sent feedback to Apple a few days ago.

Today:
6:30 am -- off charger at 100%
9:30 am -- at 33% with only about half hour of usage

 I used to get by all day on a charge up until a few weeks ago.
