So , now with the upcoming and new iPad OS 17, that feature interactive widgets, etc.. could this mean a preference for a bigger and more immersive screen and hence push the 12.9” slightly forward ? Let’s see..

I don’t see that making any significant impact.

Agreed. I think only Powerful applications that make better use of the bigger screen will drive a potential change here.

for my last iPad, I personally opted for the bigger iPad because of the screen tech. Before that I had the 11”
For my next update (2024 if the M3 hardware changes are big enough - just M3 alone is not going to make me upgrade),
I think I’ll go back to the 11 inch and start alternating between the two, provided they give the smaller pro the same screen tech as the larger version

I’ve had both. I honestly can’t remember which way I voted in here because it’s been a while, but I think the 11” is probably the better all around device. I currently have the 12.9 and wound up buying a mini because I just couldn’t get comfortable using the 12.9 with the MK anywhere other than a desk or table. I have used it in my lap occasionally with the keyboard, and although it’s doable, it’s not really comfortable.

That said, I think the 12.9 makes more sense for me because I use it as my only computing device. Since I type on it a good bit, and do other “computer” things with it, it makes sense for me to have the larger keyboard and screen.

For travel, I take the mini.

I found i wasn’t using my 12.9 with the Magic Keyboard. I changed from keyboard to adjustable case back before Christmas and I haven’t looked back!

I have since paired it with a Logitech Keys Mini keyboard and it’s perfect for my daily/home needs.

it’s a good point, i think with Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and iPadOS Apple will at some point make a bigger iPad Pro. I can see them making a 14” or even 16” version, maybe call it iPad Ultra.

Did anyone else notice how prominently the 11 Inch was featured at WWDC and on the iPadOS 17 page. Finally some 11 inch love from Apple!

A little late to this discussion after trading my 11” iPad Pro this week for the 12.9. Wow! I’m loving the 12.9 more than I ever thought I would. Yes, it is bigger but there is so much more that seems to not get explained. Full screen window without docs and menu bar is much more immersive than on a MacBook. Apps actually take advantage of the larger screen and are laid out that zooming and swiping to see certain sections are not necessary. Reading a magazine feels like reading a magazine! Nothing feels compromised. To be honest, this could easily be a laptop replacement if Apple were to make some changes to iPadOS.

Now, if you need a portable iPad get a Mini. It will do fine for consumption in bed, etc. Loooove the 12.9 Pro!

...I got an 11" iPad Pro because it was the current model on sale for $599 (and no tax) because I just couldn't bring myself to spend $499 on an iPad mini that's ~2 years old now...If they update the mini to respectable spec and keep similar pricing my wife may inherit an iPad Pro

The Mini 6 is very fast, no issues there, two years old or not. But for me personally, the 256GB storage is the limiting factor. I don't need 2TB on it, like my Pro. But 512GB should be a thing for the Mini. 256GB for $800 isn't acceptable.

Thanks for your input, I got a good deal on the iPP and if/when the mini gets refreshed and I like it, my wife's 6th Gen iPad will get a nice upgrade to the iPP :)

I decided on 2 TB data size but still can't decide on tablet size :(
I use 3 monitors for work but my primary iPad has been a 5th gen Mini so I'm finding the 11" iPP almost too large for what I'm used to for casual non-work use on a couch/bed...I don't think there's any way I'd be able to casually/comfortably use a 12.9" iPP.

I have had an 11" for over 4 years now. It's the first 11" iPad Pro that came on the market. I got it back then for my train commute, so with 4G, and with the base 64GB. I voted 11" here a long time ago as I really loved the format.

However. My eyes aren't getting better. And I feel I'm straining my neck to use it comfortably in a couch. So it is with just a bit, but very little, regret that I just ordered a 12.9". Since I moved into music production with AUM, I also upgraded the storage to 512GB. And kicked out the SIM card, as I have a car now.

I considered the 1TB but seen the fact that everything I do in music works perfectly well in 4GB at the moment on my 11", I see no reason for the extra RAM. 512GB storage will be plenty. I'm not going to future proof, but I will be keeping it for another 4+ years hopefully.

Going from 11” to 12.9” ain’t going to help with neck strain. Same with the eyes, must need glasses and size will make no difference.

My "portable" iPad is my iPhone 11 Pro Max and soon to be iPhone 15 Pro Max, like what most people do.

There is nothing "extra portable" about an iPad Mini as you still need to carry a bag.

Multiple users on this very forum carry their iPad minis in their cargos and jacket pockets with no bag required, just like a large phone, but bigger.

They say that but for how long lol probs once

Potentially but I’ll stick to what is possible and what isn’t. To get a tablet from point a to point b I don’t need a bag necessarily.
Just get the screen you’re most comfortable with.

The size thing is true. I have both 11 and 12.9, and side by side, while some elements, like widgets, are smaller/larger, the text scales about the same. On the 11, just less of it fits on the screen.
