I went from an Air2 to the 12.9 Pro and couldn't be happier. I still use the Air2 while the 12.9 is charging and it really is obvious to me which I prefer when using them back to back.

Why is here always the argument with the poor eyesight in old age and that you therefore need the 12.9 ipad? That is just an excuse to justify the purchase. The font size in safari, for example, is the same on both tablets.

Under the accessibility settings you can enlarge the font size for both the system and Safari. In addition to this you can also increase the app icons size to large. There is also something called ‘page zoom’ in Safari where you can scale websites up to make everything larger. The reverse is true too where you can scale websites to less than 100% and have more on the screen reducing the need to scroll as much. Though it can make everything super tiny. 😂

I figure, if you want a tablet, the 11 inch fits the bill.

If you want something that will sit mostly on a desk, the 12.9 is beautiful.

I have a 13 MBA (M1 version), so don't need the 12.9 IPP. I will be going for the 11 inch IPP (M2) when it's time to upgrade from my current 11 inch iPad Pro.

Still considering the 11" M2 Pro, tried the larger 12.9" but it just didn't feel comfortable to use.

I'm thinking about the 12.9" but looking at both in the Apple Store has made me wonder whether the extra weight will annoy me. It'll mostly be for use at home sometimes for watching films/telly programmes on the sofa, sometimes as a second screen when I'm using my 13" MBP and sometimes to try to show pictures to my severely sight impaired mother. I'm thinking I'd use a stand for that last one (would need to even with the 11" as she's also found my old 9.7" iPad Pro too heavy to hold) so the weight issue is really for me on the sofa.

I guess maybe I should get one and see if it fits well into my life.

I'd suggest also getting a tablet pillow. Super handy and gets rid of the weight issue. I exchanged my 12.9 for an 11, but the the one I had held the 12.9 just fine.

Honestly, I use this pillow stand more often with the mini 6 in portrait mode than bigger iPads which I use in landscape and can use the cover as stand.

The Kindle Paperwhite (~200g or less) with its big bezels is the most I can handle single handed for marathon reading sessions.

I feel lucky because I still use my 2018 11" every day and I haven't noticed any battery issues.
It’s a great device. I had that one. the only only reason I upgraded to The latest iPad Pro in November 2021 was because my 2018 had fallen and got many cracks over the years. If it was still is great condition I’d kept it still.

Sounds like a good use case for the 12.9 ... it's really best used with a keyboard so the weight sitting around shouldn't be a real issue. It's the walking around with it where the weight counts ... but I'm finding the 12.9 to be more useful since I don't really need to be nimble with it around the house. I set up with it on the couch or in bed. The 11" is sitting at the dinner table with the smart keyboard folio (easy to clean food bits off it) and that's what I pick up to take on a day trip.

Had both a 2 generations old Pro 11" and one generation old Pro 12.9". 12.9 was the most used just for reading. Got the current 11" Pro to replace the 2 generations old one. Game changer. Massive increase in speed and Wifi 6E (~1250 Mbps even 40 feet away and upstairs) makes installing apps almost instantaneous. lghter and easier to handle. Miss the full size keyboard on the 12.9, maybe the screen size a little, but the 11" is now my main iPad.

If you read, travel and mostly consume media, the 11" is great. I had a 12.9" and it was too big for travel and reading books. I was also using the 12.9" when they came out with the capability to use it as a 2nd monitor, but found it too buggy to be useful.
