These measures concern the overall size, not the size of the display...!?

The overall size confirms the image you linked to is bogus. The number of pixels and the PPI confirm the screen dimensions i.e. the narrowest dimension is identical between the 10.5 and 11.

Regardless of pixels, comparing the two side by side in landscape, you will see more content height-wise on a webpage on the 10.5 vs. 11. Usually one or two lines of text.

Unfortunately, this can be an issue depending on how the application is adapting to the new screen. This is probably my biggest issue with the 2018 iPad Pros.

Was able to put in some “couch time” with the 12.9 over the long holiday weekend and I had no issues at all with carrying it around or holding it whilst away from my desk. Jotting off quick texts or post was not a problem with the soft keyboard. In portrait or landscape, this big screen is a dream and I’m still very impressed.

Was at the local Best Buy tonight picking up a Xmas present for Mrs. Advice and wandered on over to the new Pro display models where they had an 11 and 12.9 each. Maybe it was because they were right next to each other, but the 11, again, seemed very small to me. Reading through all these posts, one starts to wonder if they made the wrong choice (for those keeping score at home, I pre-ordered an 11”, then ordered an 11” for in-store pick up on launch day, then cancelled that order and picked up a 12.9” on launch day, then kept the initial 11” that I pre-ordered for a day or two, and ultimately decided to keep the 12.9”). I started to think, maybe the 11” is better for me when I’m traveling. But, tonight, playing with the 11” again, I’m sure I made the right choice.... for me.

As others here have stated, one isn’t “better” than the other. Just go with what works for you. For me, it’s the 12.9.

I’ve hit the proverbial last day to return but I’m keeping the 11”. To me it’s the perfect comfortable size for consuming media and I rarely pick up my phone now which has made my eyes happier. In the evenings I do some work on my 27” iMac and the 11” fits perfectly at the side for music and messages.

I am curious to find the screen size of the 11" iPad Pro in Landscape mode, I used the measure app in iOS 12 to measure the screen size of the 11" iPP and it come out to 16 CMS can anyone measure the 2017 10.5" iPad Pro in Landscape mode ? Didn't have an access to the 10.5" so could not measure it. Can anybody do it ?

I changed my vote for the 11.

I don't work with the iPad. It is just for media consumption and browsing – for this the 12.9 is for me not worth the money at all!

When I saw the 12.9 when it first came out I was envious. I was like wow now that an iPad! But the size and how heavy it was was definitely too much. I went from iPad 4 (dropped it twice just right and cracked the screen repaired it once for 120 didn’t have AppleCare) and I loved how solid it felt, the weight of it never bothered me. Tried the iPad Air didn’t care for it. So I upgraded to the pro when it came out. Then came the 10.5 lol upgraded to that and gave my 9.7 to my young grandson. Now comes the 12.9! Just what I have waited for! This is it finally! I am totally happy with this device and will not be upgrading anymore for years to come. I am at home a lot. Use it for everything. Streaming music, tv read daily and games daily. At first I was apprehensive but after using it for a coup,e of weeks it has grown on me. In a few years I can always pass it on to one of my grandsons when they come out with the next greatest device lol

As a follow up to my previous post, I originally bought the new 12.9, then decided it was too big and went to 11, and now I’m back to 12.9, each purchase more expensive than the last.
The 11 is much easier to handhold but when sitting at a desk/table I enjoy the 12.9 plus keyboard case much more than I did my previous 10.5 or the 11.
I forgot to trade in my 10.5 after returning the 11 for the 12.9 and may end up keeping it as the more portable/handheld option.

I bought both sizes 2 weeks ago. Have been using the 11”. Can’t bring myself to open the box for the 12.9”. I like that one it might be overkill for my daily use. It will fit the controller for my Phantom 4 Pro with the adapter I have. I’d need a new cup holder mount for the car. I might try it but I think I’ll be staying with the 11”. I have til the beginning of Jan to decide.

My opinion:

11 if you want to hold it in hand(s) carry around or use it on the go
12.9 if you want to lie in bed or have the iPad on something stationary most of the time

I find reading in bed the 11” is the right distance from my eyes to be comfortable. My wife however has an older 12.9” and typically she holds it further away. To me it seems visually like a less comfortable position.

Another comparison video. Might help some of you decide.

I really like his 80 20 rule don’t compromise 80% of your usage for 20% of what you spend your time doing regardless of which you prefer. That is really brilliant and distills this entire thread into one sentence really. If you spend 80% of your time surfing one handed don’t compromise for screen estate and vice versa.

I also agree with him if you want to evaluate the new 12.9 as a tablet you have to use it naked take it out of the cases (I love how easy this is to do with the keyboard folio) and it becomes significantly different so I appreciated him calling that out and overall a really good video and perfect for this thread!
