Well here's a basic photo... not perfect quality as it's from a 5mp phone camera but you'll get the idea.

You have tried your macbook pro, all demo exes in store and yet another one and they where all the same, and you still want to order one to see if it's the same? Well... go figure, they probably ARE that way, stop wasting their time and money, MBPs cost to much already, we don't need to give them an excuse for it ;/then compare the online one (supposedly glossy) with what I've got to see if the hinges are better.
What does everyone recommend???

Thanks a lot for posting the picture. Yours is the first picture on the web of the new 17" high-res. And it totally convinced me that this screen is awesome.

please, just take 10-100 more useless pictures of it and post somewhere, i like surl.se, imageshack.us, whatever. i need something to drowl to while im waiting for wwdc. =)
That is not a useless picture. You can clearly see how large UI elements are in comparision ( you must have seen the 17" before) and how much screen real estate you get. Just great.
I don't think photos will represent this well.
Very nice screen real estate!Well here's a basic photo... not perfect quality as it's from a 5mp phone camera but you'll get the idea.

Just wanted to thank everyone in this thread for their impressions on the 17" High-Res. As bright as the LED's look, it seems like this is the way to go for people who are junkies for lots of workspace. Mine could be showing up as early as this Friday complete with the 7200 RPM hard-drive...absolutely cannot wait to bask in its glory.
Macrumors rocks...by far the most knowledgeable and friendly people I've encountered in all of the internet tech-related forums.
You can always change it to 1680 x 1050 resolution if you want to.
