Was just asked if they're launching an iPhone.

I showed them mine and said, this is it! You can have the last one for $700.

They didn't even smile or laugh... totally didnt' get it.

I wad the first one in line here at my local best buy. I got here around 8am and am still the only one in line.

I will go at 2pm. 3 hours of wait sounds just about right for me. Any more I would go stir crazy, any less and the line might get too long.

Just curious not criticizing, why not just pre-order it? Seems to me sitting at home with a cup of coffee is more fun then on a hard bench worrying about rude people cutting in line and having to answer all those "are you in line" questions.

Scott, which apple store are you at in houston? can you give me an hourly update on how long the line gets? :D I plan on going out to an apple store around 3, but if the lines start to get long, I feel a cold coming on.

I still remember waiting in line for Leopard. It was an OS, not like I was super jazzed about it, but it is still a great memory. How much of a memory is just sitting around at home like I can any day.

Maths

I got to the store closest to me at 8 am. No one is here yet. I am surprised, but happy. I have to be somewhere at 6 pm, so I didn't have time to wait long after 5. I thought, if I get here now, I'd be done by 5:30 or so. Well, looks like I'll be done by 5:05. :D

Not disclosing which store just because I don't want that broadcast out there, but it's one of the handful in Houston. :)

I can work from here just as easy as my office, and I even have a power plug. :p

Seven hours in line? Now this is a dedicated iPad man.

Err I think you mean nine hours!

This is why they need a calculator app on the iPad!!! ;-)

ha. Well, for some reason, I'm not comfortable putting out on the internet my exact location. Sorry if that's paranoid, but I just have certain things I don't like doing online.

I will let you guys know how this line looks as the day goes on. It's probably representative of the other stores here.

I was planning on going around 3 or 4 with the hope of waiting no longer than 2 hours but I'm getting a special delivery so no 3g for me til Tuesday

That's OK. Recognizing your problem is the first step to recovery. Now you just need to look up local therapists when you get your new 3G and let the GPS show you how to get there.

I have the feeling you guys are going to be the only ones in line for a while. I sure hope I'm not wrong about that though, since I plan to show up at a flagship store around 3 or 3:30. People seem to think the Apple stores will have plenty of stock though. I hope they're right!

It's all good???

I drove 2.5 hours to find no line at my nearest Apple Store. I feel for you Scott. It's all good at the end, right!?

Exactly. It's a blip of time in the whole scheme of things, and it's kind of fun being king dork of this Apple location.

As for jobs... I have a great job, and it lets me do things from home, the office, a client, or the cold, tile floor of this shopping mall.

So I take it there are no reports of any Best Buys giving out vouchers - so you're really in line for 5 p.m.?

I'm leaving work a bit early and planning to show up at the Reston VA Best Buy at 5:30 or so. If things don't seem favorable there for whatever reason (long line, already sold out, shipment didn't arrive etc), I'll walk across the street to the Reston Town Center Apple Store and see how it looks there. If it's also not favorable there, I'll be drinking beer at the Uno's bar by 6:15 and will try another day.

People seem to think the Apple stores will have plenty of stock though.

Is there any reason to think otherwise? I can't recall any major Apple product launch where they sold out on launch day. Apple always stocks up well. I can't see any reason to get in line before 4pm.

Yeah... the manager I spoke to seemed to think so too. Again, my primary driver is that I have somewhere i need to be by 6. My conversation with her made it sound like if I was far back in line, it would be an hour or more to buy. I can't wait that long, hence the waiting prior as to after.

She also said there would be plenty of stock, but also said, it may not be the size you want, but you can get one. I was thinking, I won't buy what I don't want, but whatever. It's worth the wait.

As I finished typing this, the 2nd person just joined me! hehe
