Just to second Barbapapa there, I looked inside the ipsw and the restore.plist refers to two board configurations: m68ap and n68ap which I assume refers to the original iPhone and the 3g iphone.
I cant get the ispw file to do anything ether. Im on a mac. Iv checked its not a zip it is a ispw. iv option-clicked and all it seams to wanna to is rename the file. This is gonna sound simple but are you left or right clicking the file?
It's OPTION CLICK THE RESTORE BUTTON IN ITUNES, THEN select the file when the dialogue opens
Ahhh see now it works
Dont i feel stupid![]()
I think you will need the ipod firmware, anybody found it?
How can I force a backup before I do this restore?
Will the backup include SMS files?
Yeah my work PC doesn't have my music so I'm going to be doing that tonight when I get home...may be restoring again too cause I have a more recent version of my data on that comp if it comes down to it.
I noticed 'Import Contacts from SIM' in the settings. Though it didn't do anything for me it was neat to see...

I had an unknown error occur too during the process. 10.5.4, iTunes 7.7. I wonder if it is different for O2 phones than for ATT phones somehow.
