I added a Linux install to one of my still perfect MacBook Airs stuck on High Sierra. DosDude and OCLP worked, but the 4GB is too anemic for long-term satisfaction.

ZorinOS has a Mac-like UX and runs like a demon! On the MacBook Air, everything is supported out of the box! Even the special keys for screen brightness, etc. And it just sips that battery.

I am very impressed.

Anyone with an idea how to keep watching netflix on 10.11?
Seems like a DRM issue and wants to update the browser, but none of the major ones still support 10.11?
I don't have Netflix but suggest you try the Firefox Extended Support Release. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-esr. Works fine with my MacPro 1,1 running the hacked ElCap and have had no issues with it running video through the web; TCM/WatchTCM, for instance.

Looked into it and would like to make it work. What version did you use? Seems the problem with installing could be the cMP 1,1's 32-Bit EFI..

Anybody tried to migrate from an older machine time machine to the new El Cap image?

I use this image and that works normally but when i migrate from an old backup during install it restarts and then gets stuck on a bootloop when the apple logo and bar show up

Now trying to migrate after installation but i don't have high hopes.

Edit: yep it does it again. I can check tomorrow if can see something when starting with - x but have to look into that too.

The backup was from an old hackintosh 10.8.2 crash. I can try and do a fresh install of that but i have to look into how i did it back then and then later migrate everything by hand. Very time consuming but maybe the only way.

Thanks for any info that could help me with that migration

Surely i have to remove all the hackintosh stuff when i do a TM restore to a mac pro 2006. Not sure how i want to move the hack install or do an install on the hack. That would be the fastest i think.

I should not forget to keep a USB install for every hack or opencore i build.

Anyway back at the el capitan i found

And now wondering what more there is.

If your Mac Pro 2006 is up and running (with support Mac OS), my suggestion is using the pre-made disk image with the restore command. It will be faster than installing from USB.

Thanks! The USB is not for my Mac Pro 1,1 but for my hackintoshes/opencore 5,1 etc.

But still a fast method of getting a system back online is always welcome. For my 1,1 i now use superduper to make images but it doesn't copy the recovery partition. Maybe disk utility can make complete images of a physical drive but haven't searched for it.

Also I need to find out how to update the OS the best after i use the image method for installing from the video above. Only real OS update in the Apple Store is 2018-004 now.

The image i got from the video is from 17 january 2017 i think because when i check installations on my mac pro. The OSX date there is 9 january 2017 which i think is that update if i look at

So finding the right updates from here is a thing and i'm thinking about doing the 2018-004 update and put the 2017 kernel back.

But maybe i need a 2017-005 combi update first but haven't found that. Don't want to do the small updates because that is very time consuming. Especially if i have to put back the boot.efi everytime.

But i'm going through this tread we're in here and haven't read it all.

Also i'm trying to reduce power. So far i'm at 125 watts with low idle watt 2 duo cores and a HD 5450 video card. My hack ran at 100 watts so were close.
