Joined the club today. Installed onto the mac pro drive via USB on MacBook Pro. Replaced boot.efi, popped in a GT730, loaded latest web and cuda drivers and presto. Works like a charm. Also loaded El Cap but which works ok except the built in drivers can identify the gfx card. Only shows a generic Nvidia chipset.

Apple changed their restrictions with iMessage the weekend of February 14th, 2015. It started working with all Hackintoshes even without having to call Apple.
She (Apple Carer) clearly said , that it was blocked by default and she made it unblocked.May be UK rules. Tried signing out from iCloud, and guest user, no luck, (even tried resetting NVRAm, which caused havoc because it removes nvda_boot args:). Silly thing that I don't really need this Messenger/Facetime thing, but it good to have it to complete the rebuild success:). May be best option is to change serial number to a newer model that meant to run Yos? But it looks like it can be only changed on the boards with blank numbers(

I have no problems with iCloud on my MP1.1. Calls come through from my phone; sms and imessage work. Works exactly the same as on my MacBook Pro

Like I mentioned before Imessage and facetime worked for me after it was unblocked then one day i couldn't send messages. I can't figure it out, All other icloud services work fine though.

Yea I never had any issues either. There was a time they were occasionally blocking it but a 15min call and giving the person on the end the code fixed it. If it happened again I just called again.

Since February though, all of my hackintoshes have had zero issue with iMessage/FaceTime. Don't have the Mac Pro running to test on but there isn't a reason right now why it shouldn't work.

Hackintosh people can easily change their serial in smbios file , they have threads about it, and lists of working generated serials (if they want to get iCloud working).
I guess I have to call "apple care" again...
Does it matter that I use same ID an another Mac?

The serial number in About This Mac isn't really associated with iMessage activation. The MLB and ROM are the important values. You could have a perfectly good serial number and it won't work if either of those two are bad. If you have a bad serial number but a good MLB and ROM then it will still work.

For example, my serial number on both my hackintoshes doesn't exist in Apple's system. It was generated using a program. If it is checked with AppleCare it doesn't show up as existing.

I had to call apple again to try and get things working. I was on the phone for over 40 mins trying everything they suggested to get imessage working. Finally we claimed defeat. The tech was really apologetic though-lol

I installed Yosemite pre-patched installer on an SSD and it worked flawlessly until I updated to 10.10.4. Now I can't boot into the OS normally. It will show the apple logo and loading bar, but around 1/3 the way they both disappear and it's just a black screen. The weird thing is I can only boot into safe mode holding shift, and my old Lion OS HD. I tried reinstalling the 10.10.4 combo fix, and resetting PRAM, but still facing the same issue. Anyone else experiencing this or found a solution?

UPDATE: I just tried resetting the SMC and it works again!

MLB = Main Logic Board. It is a serial number associated with the logic board itself.

ROM = MAC address of the network device at en0.

MLB number = serial number in "about" (isn't it?)
It is the first time I hear that mac:address is important.
Please, could you try to login on your hackintosh to iMessage/Facetime with Mac Pro 2006/2007 serial
CK70904MUPZ ? If you will be able to login, that would mean it's all about some settings / files on my system that blocks it.

The serial number in about this Mac is 11 digits. The MLB for your machine would be 13 digits. Newer Macs have a 12 digit serial number and a 17 digit MLB. MLB and serial number are not the same thing.

There is a TON of information here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/110471-how-fix-imessage.html#TOP7.1

Hmm, may be because I changed from Mac Pro 1.1 to 1.2 after upgrading cpus and flashing bios.
iMessage debug tool shows System-ID: failed.
Is there a way to inject better (or correct) values for sys-id on real mac pro, not hackintosh?

hi!
i installed yosemite on my mac pro 2,1. after a few days i realized that he is using only 4gb of its RAM. i have 12gb of RAM installed. it shows 12gb in "about this mac" but in "activity monitor" it shows like he only has 4gb and is using most of it just for surfing.
any idea on what to do?

PS: i had to try two different USB sticks to install yosemite. also it didnt work for me with the 10.10.4 version, so i had to build the installer with the original 10.10 version and update afterwards.

thank u!

If you aren't using RAM intensive applications like Photoshop then it isn't going to use all 12GB all the time.

yes, maybe i am not explaining myself well :)
it sais in activity monitor that i am using 10.5gb of ram while not using any ram intensive applications which is weird. even more weird is that when i sum up the memory used, it only comes to 2.5gb?
so i have a feeling that it is acting as thou it only has 4gb of ram and is counting the other 8gb as used apriori.

tnx for your help!

Since Mavericks, Apple's RAM management is very clever, read: it actually uses the RAM you have in your system, mostly for caching things, instead of leting it produce heat only.
Caching means speed, means snappiness, means comfort. So Mac OS X tries to fill your RAM as good as it could. The downside is that it's sometimes confusing to read the RAM usage page.

Rule of thumb: memory usage high and memory pressure low: best you could wish for.

The SFOTT has created the bootable usb fine and it shows in finder no problem but it just won't boot from it ? I have tried booting in start up disk and holding the option key at the start but it just boots my old lion drive ?
