Considering the fine work you are doing we would be happy to contribute an EFI card for you to further testing for community. Gratis. Just PM me an address and what display outputs you need.

A really nice gesture. Yes, Hennesie2000 has helped a lot to get the recent OS X releases running on older Macs - he deserves a appreciation.

Indeed. People like you and the other dev's are a must in our community. Thanks for extending the life of - in Apple's opinion - our outdated Macs!

Wow, that would be awesome! THANK YOU!!

Has anyone been able to test the a8097f5 build?

Was able to test build a8097f5 a few moments ago. My results appear identical to member "atvusr" and the image in post #795. When selecting "alt" during start-up and getting the boot menu, among the boot images there is a somewhat random white apple in a black box/window in the very middle over the top of the hard drive image. Upon selecting my Yosemite boot drive, the screen immediately shifts over to the black screen, white apple, and white scroll bar for a second or two then my desktop appears.

If you haven't done it already, I suggest that you drop a note to Pike.

Ok, thanks for testing. Im wondering if it has to do with the CsClearScreen() update. I suggest people roll back to the original non-verbose boot.efi here

And certainly report bugs to Piker_Alpha here

Here is build b9aa1ae. This is the CsClearScreen() build.

Is this the build that I documented boot-up in my youtube video and remarked about yesterday ?

"Nice relatively fast boot. Aesthetically, the back screen/white apple icon appeared coupled with a slower white scroll/loading bar of what I assume to be during/instead of verbose boot..no hyphen whatsoever. It then switched over to an identical/same black screen while apple and a swifter white scroll loading bar to the Yosemite log in screen."

No, I think this is the build immediately following that one. Based on the boot.efi files posted in this thread. Peter-Holbrook might have posted this one but I am not sure. I'm trying to make sure label all the ones I upload with their commit number so we don't get confused.

Figured it out.
ClrScreen was the issue, not the latest fix.

Here is working one. Boots in about 20s from chime to the desktop (SSD).

It's built from sources with ClrScreen correction (I had to undo it) + replaced Hibernate.cpp and .h files with latest fix (C6297). Posted feedback and vid on Pike's blog, so it should appear there when he will approve the comment.

My Yose install got borked somehow (didn't even want to boot with Apple boot.efi) and I had to do a clean install with all delta updates one by one to be able to test it. What the PITA it was... :)

Build b9aa1ae for me did exactly as build a8097f5 a bit earlier and appears identical to member "atvusr" and the image in post #795. Although I cannot recall what exact build it was, in my opinion so far the one I booted and video taped yesterday is the most logical, fluid, non-verbose version of all that have been compiled thus far.

Ok good. I had a feeling it was the Clear screen. Hopefully we will see a new official commit on the repository later today.

Yea I had to reinstall Yosemite a little while ago and for some reason it was going to take 14+ hrs to download each delta update through the App Store. I ended up just torrenting them all.

I would shoot myself if it would take that long :)

BTW, compiled in Debug mode still boots with grey screen/white bar/no logo. Omission of unused images made the file smaller and boot time shorter, much shorter.

Well if I was reading 666sheeps post correctly this one wasn't posted yesterday but it pulls from the first nonverbose version and the most recent commit.

So, what are the specific problems you guys are having with builds of the latest commit (d8325989e1), authored by Pike about 19 hours ago? Is Pike aware of them?

Whatever be the case, for me 666sheeps compiled file booted in an identical fashion as the following description I posted yesterday then video taped:

"Nice relatively fast boot. Aesthetically, the back screen/white apple icon appeared coupled with a slower white scroll/loading bar of what I assume to be during/instead of verbose boot..no hyphen whatsoever. It then switched over to an identical/same black screen while apple and a swifter white scroll loading bar to the Yosemite log in screen."

I would video tape it again but quite frankly nothing whatsoever would be different from the footage I took yesterday.

New fix is done (CsClearScreen which caused "box" logo) and more to come.

gpatpandp: the case is some fixes under the hood.

Here is the latest build that should have the fixed boot manager screen and boot screen sequence:

This one works very/equally well. One small/minor improvement I noticed with this one over some of the other more recent builds is that during shut down, it displayed (albeit briefly) a white spinning "spoke-like" gear where as the others just displayed a completely black screen then my machine abruptly shut down.

While I am all for helping and furthering improvement, I am not entirely certain that anything better can or needs to be accomplished here. Maybe it is just my nature however I am beginning to feel like this might be pushing it a bit in perhaps taking advantage of a highly skilled individuals generosity. Maybe it is time to appreciate what has been furnished, express the communities sincerest/deepest appreciation for all that he has done, and let Pike move on to other endeavors.

Based on the ReadMe and ToDo List by Pike edits it is done. Big ups for Pike and a big thanks to everyone here. At least another year on these machines running the current OS.

I am going to edit Tobyg's TiamoMacProFix.pkg to contain the new boot.efi

would you recommend a direct upgrade from Mavericks once the official Yosemite is out? I have tons of audio stuff that would require days of installation and would like to avoid a clean install!

With the new boot.efi it should be good to go?

(I'm currently running 10.9.4 on a dual 3.0 1,1 + HD5770 + tiamo's mavericks script)
