The dell version of gtx880m should be able to be used directly, but there is no boot screen. The MSI version of gtx880m is not sure, and the Clevo version of gtx880m is definitely not good enough to flash vbios.

Ok thanks so much I will keep a look out for a dell one and dose that GPU need a 3 pipe heat sink ive seen them on ebay amd they are really expensive cuz it comes with a and 6970 I cant just find the 3 pipe heat sink bye it self

No...I have a spare blower fan - I have removed my optical drive and was thinking of powering through the spare sata. However I probably won't need to do that - I made a makeshift shroud to better direct the ODD fan blower through the GPU heatsink fins - and reseated/pasted the heatsink on the GPU - performing better and boosting.
thinking ill also need to do that for the WX7100. i think about creating a 3D printed part. not realy need the optical.

In fact, I have a few dell version of gtx880m and the vbios of nikey22 have been flashed and can be used directly by plugging in the startup screen and brightness adjustment. There are also modified three-tube radiators but I am in China.

Hello guys, a little bit OT, my apologies,
I have a specific question about ATI HD5770M 512MB card; I got a FOC iMac 21.5 mid 2011 which had several issues initially, left with one:
* whenever I want to install MacOS High Sierra (installer is ok, tried El Capitan, tried a pre-installed HighSierra, too, which can run on my other 21.5" an 27", also tried internet recovery), it boots half-way (same in verbose mode and safe mode), Logo+progress bar appears, but at some point it switches to a blank white screen. Tried SMC & Pram reset, nothing.
* I can boot into diagnostic mode, shows all ok. Graphics card is shown as HD6770M 512MB, as per serial number (checked; # C02FQ0W0DHJN, EMC# 2428).
* I can boot into Linux Mint with parameter "nomodeset".

Edit: Got a ROM from ZenSurfeur. Thank you for that! However, no change, MacOS HS installer proceeds to about 75% on the progress bar, then white screen.

Apart from that, it's a machine that probably wasn't updated, so that Bootloader or such things are older. Any way to check that - and to update that - without being able to boot MacOS?

Could it be that the BIOS of the card is corrupted; can I re-flash (e.g. using the linux stick suggested in this thread)? Which ROM? I wasn't able to find the 5770 512MB ROM for this card, help is appreciated.
If I put this onto the Linux stick, how would I flash it? Any command I need to change in the scrips?

Here is the Linux report:

hi
I got the original apple vbios of this card if you want it I can give it to you
you can flash again using linux and ssh
I think your card is dying

Hi again. Couple pages ago I posted about 4th led being off with flashed k2100m which turned out to be faulty. Got it replaced with another one and so far so good.
I have a question about native brightness control support for the remaining Quadro cards. Is the reason for not supporting it the hardware limitations or is it just a matter of Rom improvement? Recently quite many of the listed cards got the brightness native support, so I'm wondering what's the reason behind the others support it only with OC?

The ROM would need to be modified/re-written to assign the iMac's display as "internal"/eDP, this is basically what OpenCore is doing by loading a small bit of "code" @0,backlight-control, @0,built-in. Otherwise when booting without OpenCore your Display is shown as an Apple Cinema display 1st gen, which ironically controls Backlight over USB.

I have 20yrs of background in IT, however have never been doing such modifications (although have some experience with programming early Motorolas and Intels). It's graphics card ROM more like assembler code or rather data structure?

Where can I find some information/guide how and where to start?

I really only know how to do the ACPI side of things such as DSDT/SSDT/Clover/OpenCore things, I have not a clue how to Edit VBIOS's. I have opened them with Hex editors before, played around with them. But never understood the "wizardry" @nikey22 @Nick [D]vB behind it. Something Something DCB tables....

Would you say this would not be a suitable card to flash? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nvidia-G...550486?hash=item46906999d6:g:6tgAAOSwgaNc4VBK

Also in regards to the 780m, are the Clevo versions suitable for flashing? If not, what are the best versions of this card for flashing?

I've been following this thread for a while, and I'm sure my 6970 is going to die pretty soon haha! Will be doing the swap in the near future.

Thanks in advance guys!

This is a 27" iMac correct? if so, you probably want to source the MXM-B large heatsink as well, also go with the K3100m and not a 765m. No backlight control ROM is available for the 765M.

Yes 27” I forgot to write....
I know MXM-B it’s bigger than A model just ask if I need to modify something from Ati heatsink to work with the k3100m or I MUST buy the 3 pipe version

@Pascal Baillargeau Has let me know about an issue on 10.15.6 leading to a white screen when booting with AMD GOP cards. The solution to this is issue (agdpmod=pikera AKA changing board-id to board-ix) has new been edited into AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy Binary (thanks again @Pascal Baillargeau) and can now fix this issue without the use agdpmod=pikera added to WEG. I will be updating the files on the original AppleGraphicsControl to reflect these changes.

I recommend buying the larger 3 Pipe version and modifying (grinding) it. The smaller MXM-A heatsink doesn't have the cooling capacity or cover all the components.

** NVIDIA Quadro K5100M Mac Edition ROM **
Genuine Native Boot Screen & Brightness Control

I put together this UGA rom for the K5100M:
  • Does not require a 3rd party bootloader like OpenCore
  • Needs modification of the AppleBacklight.kext [AppleIntelPanelA/ApplePanels/F10Ta007] brightness stepping
  • Stock Quadro K5100M GPU clock/RAM speeds

Thanks to @ZenSurfeur for his very thorough testing and successful implementation. He is very pleased with the ROM and has done extensive tests.

"insanely Great!"

Looking to do this on my 2011 27" iMac...
Going to use the @xanderon method of flashing the gpu
I'm guessing I will just place this rom in the Quadro_beta 1.2 folder of this thumb drive flash??
Or does it matter?

If we use SSDs we don't really need ODD fan and HDD fan. We can redirect these airflows. The question is, redirect these airflows on the GPU itself or on GPU heatsink (to create a thermal flux), maybe one the GPU and another one on the heatsink?

@nikey22 could you please point me to some guidelines about where and how to start working on a native brightness support for k2100m? Thanks.
