Hi everyone, i just upgrade my Imac Mid 2011 i5 2.5 to a new Gpu (k2100m) i flashed the bios using Nick[D]vB , after that update to catalina using dosdude patcher. I figured out how to go throught black screen and finally get inside catalina. But , performance are too low, really shatter animatios, and even work with chrome not good experience. Did i do something wrong ? Did i miss something?
Yes, on the first post of this thread there is a brief guide howto install Catalina using @dosdude1 patcher. Most likely you installed the legacy video patch - although disabled by default - and you surely did not add the sleep and airplay patches.

Hi there,

I have an iMac 27 2011 (iMac 12.2) with a GTX 770M graphics card. I installed Big Sure with an opencore legacy patcher.

021.11.05-01_31_42.png

I have several problems and questions.

1. My brightness regulation is not working?

2. When I patch my EFI partition with Opencore (Install OpenCore to USB / internal drive -> Select 0 -> Select 1 for Efi Partition -> Password and restart), it does not boot from the internal SSD.
I always get an error message (picture) and then the loading bar comes and stops at 1/4. I can only boot from the stick

mac-keeps-restarting-1.jpeg

3. I executed the post-install volume patch for the drivers from Nvidia via the Opencore Patcher TUI, unfortunately the graphics card is totally bad ...
or can I use the Big Sure standard / driver?
or can I download the .kext / driver separately for GTX 770M?

otherwise everything works.

I hope someone can help me.

I'm sorry if the text is strange to read I used the translate

First it is always a great idea to check the docs here on page/post #1 and the OCLP online docs before posting. You can gather a lot reading this.

1. flash the latest vBIOS published by @Santa's Little Helper recently (link on table of page/post #1)

2. This is a different problem I cannot really explain. Your iMac is crashing. Did you start with a clean installation? Big Sur with OCLP does not need any patches (especially no Lilu and Whatevergreen installed to disks). Start again with a clean installation. Do not install any patches manually. If you have another version of OpenCore installed to an USB device pull this device and reset the PRAM on reboot. This way the internal SSD and it‘s OC will become default.

3. How so? Using Big Sur your system does not need any post install patches! Running the OCLP option #3 post installer should not be possible on Big Sur and is clearly a user error. Please read the OCLP online docs. Patching is only necessary with Monterey. Again: Big Sur does not need any manual patching or adding kernel extensions as described on the first post/page of this thread.

G’day mates!
I’m kinda struggling to get a picture on my 2009 iMac(WX4150). At one point I got it to post and successfully installed Catalina just to be sure and then wanted to make a clean install as that one was spoiled with a High Sierra partition. As far as I can remember I did get to post with OCLP(latest) Settings as following: GPU: AMD, Spoofing: Moderate and SMBIOS: iMac12,2. Somehow it just doesn’t want to work anymore. Is it obvious to someone what I am missing here? Is it true that the times are over where one has to install every macOS upgrade to get to a recent OS? Because then I would make a Monterey stick today to install that directly.

Hi!

Assuming you own an iMac Late 2009 with the SMBIOS iMac11,1!

If you run OCLP on your iMac you do not need to change manually settings, auto detection will do the job completely!

If you are using another Mac to write OC to the iMac disk use this settings:

1. SMBIOS: iMacPro1,1 (leave it untouched, it is not meant to be changed here)
2. (target) Model: iMac11,1 (Late 2009 is iMac11,1, Mid 2010 is iMac11,3 - selecting the wrong target system will lead to a black screen, the DevicePath of the GPU is different in these Macs.
3. Mojave and Catalina need both moderate spoofing just for installation, Big Sur and later can work with light spoofing (default)!
4. GPU: AMD (metal)

You can use the latest Big Sur 11.6.1 InstallAssistant.pkg from Apple to get the latest complete installer. Follow this guide to create an USB installer. Check this thread about Big Sur….

My advice, try Big Sur right now unless you have modded your BT/WiFi, too. Both is only half working with Monterey.

Ohh okay, I see.
I’m actually doing it on the same machine but a different drive with HS installed. Yeah, it’s the 11,1.

Step 1. and 2. are a bit confusing to me - seems kinda opposed to each other. Well, as I’m doing it on the same machine I guess I can skip these two? So that if I’m doing it on the same machine it comes down to just set spoofing and the GPU?

I actually bought a BCM94630 wifi module wich should arrive today. In fact the guy I bought the gpu from told me yesterday that I doesn’t even need that one as OCLP patches the WiFi modules also. Is that even correct? Couldn’t really believe that.

Hi to all, I have read several posts in this thread because I have an IMAC Mid 2011,12.2 I have changed the graphic for a K1000M I have 16 gigs of ram and ssd, at the moment big sur is installed, I would like to be able to install Monterey I have I got to install it but the wifi and bluetooth do not work install OCP nightly but it still does not work I wanted to know if someone can help me or if I want to change the graph, I hope you can help me because I have tried yq several times and I have not gotten results thanks in advance

If you using OCLP on the same system you do not need any manual settings. I though my first post was clear about it? Just start OCLP, press #1 for build and #2 for install - unless you want Catalina/mojave and need moderate spoofing.

You can run Monterey without your new BCM94630, but you need to run post install patches to get WiFi working - with some problems. All this is a moving target, Monterey final release dropped a few days ago. You cannot seriously expect to fix all problems within hours? IMHO there will be no real 100% fix for the old Atheros WiFi in Monterey.

After installing the BCM94630 you will have to rerun OCLP again to get a fitting configuration. Keep in mind, OCLP has hardware auto detection. Changed hardware will need a new OC config.

If you do not want to repeat your installation again and again first install the BCM94360, check it with High Sierra before moving to Monterey and (post install) patching it just because you wanted the old WiFi working.

Check this thread, you need to install the latest OLCP and you need to run the post-install patches to get WiFi and your Nvidia Kepler card working, again. Please check the online docs of OLCP how to use OCLP for patching.

Honestly your system is better suited with Big Sur. First glitches and malfunctions have been discovered with Kepler cards on Monterey. Not sure if this will or even can be solved completely in future.

To run Monterey unpatched you need the WiFi/BT upgrade and an AMD GPU....

Just an update.
I had solve the problem of CPU locked at 1.6 Ghz by solder back the L5500.

Another question, any way to make the airdrop work on this 2011 27" IMac with the IPhone 13?
Only by adding a new BT/WiFi card as described here....you will get full Monterey support with this modification, too.

Hi there,

1. i thank you for your answer I tried to flash my GPU VBios unfortunately the instructions according to the article with Big Sure do not work. I'm trying to patch / flash the Flash DOS via Boot Camp.

This Methode ist not Supported with OSX Big Sure Flash via OSX Terminal

I'm trying it now : https://www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-nvflash/

2. Regarding the Efi partition, I still haven't got it going. I performed a clean install. I made a video right after installing Big Sure without a patch without any modifications.

OSX Big Sure I installed this version (clean install)
11.6.120G224download hereupdate 6.1

I hope you can help me.

There is a first post of this thread, link in my signature. Try to find it, try to find the FAQ there, try to find the question about different methods to flash a video card. You will be surprised how much information we could hide there.

I will flash the graphics card. What about the EFI boot partition? Sorry but I can't find anything with the EFI boot partition problem.

So that card has 8 GB of Hynix VRAM - and that's its VBIOS (did you confound the names of your cards?).
Attached comes the WX7100 VBIOS with the VRAM_Info from your VBIOS.
Hi, I am trying now to install my rx480. In the folder with the bios you uploaded there is an other folder inside with a rom file. Could you tell me wich one I should use?

I found the error why my EFI partition did not work / did not boot properly. The VBIOS version of my 770M was probably out of date.

Many thanks to everyone for the great work.

Could you please share your info about the L5500?
Type of component? (I guess it's a coil, but not sure)
Value? (you will need an LCR meter to measure it at various frequency)
