Hello I just did bouth SMC AN NVRAM reset. At the beginning didn’t work them for some somehow I got into the recover screen. But now I don’t get the booting sound!

maybe you have not connected your speaker cables well ?
I made this mistake once my self, for the left speaker..
The cable was not all the way in the socket of the iMac logic board..

Maybe check these connections..

SMC and Nvram reset, should always bring back audio at 100% volume as far as I know.
So the startup startup should also return..

Nice, this is a good confirmation that the Dell/Alienware GTX880m also works..
I suppose this card is also kepler based then, and does not need any nvidia web drivers.. ?

Does external display monitor work with this GTX880m ?

I'm wondering if a k3100m would also work, like the k2000m. That card would be perfect, because its mxm a(the shorter one) and it would work without any heating issue even in the 27" iMac(i used a k2000m with the bigger heatsink in my 27", it works fine). It's better than a 750m and almost on pair with 780m.

i think clevo vbios on your gtx 670 would not work.
I would say stick to Dell/Alienware cards.

Maybay try and flash your 670 with a dell/alienware vbios and try again.
I'm not sure if there is a Dell Alienware vbios for your card.
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios...GTX+675MX&interface=&memType=&memSize=&since=

But i would reccomend stick with known working kepler cards, Like Dell/Alienware GTX765/770/780m

I think 3rd LED led won't light on with non Apple card withouth Apple EFI bios.
I think this led will only work with Apple EFI cards, correct me if i'm wrong..

Have you been able to make remote connection when powered on.. ?
Could be that the card is recognisned but not working due to vbios missmatch.

You can then for example still flash it blindly running bootcamp for example, using remote desktop or teamviewer

Hi guys,

Just doing a bit more research I found the below on eBay.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/for-HP-8...743198?hash=item3d12b3439e:g:8OkAAOSwsFpaMz2Z

Techpowerup has bios for Apple HD6770m but the issue that I see is that the Apple HD6770m has 512mb vram and this dell version has 1024mb vram. Was wondering where the ram allocation is defined in the vbios. I have attached the link to both bios's (I cant seem to attach the files here, I get an error saying extension not recognized).

This card is not good, because it doesn't have a bios chip on it. If you find one that does, you still need to replace it as the apple rom is 128kb and the bios chip on these is 64kb. So its just too much work. Get a k2000m instead :)

Hi, couple of things to note.

First, it does have a bios chip. I have decoded the apple bios but having issues with the checksum after attaching the efi bit onto it following Netkas post.

Second, if you look at the size of the rom file on techpowerup, apple rom is 128kb and dell rom is 62kb. This doesn't mean that the chip capacity is 128kb and 62kb respectively. I just need to fix the checksum and I can flash the rom.

The memory support can be added by the below line.

Memory Support 1024 MB, GDDR5, Hynix H5GQ1H24AFR_ACOFF

The ebay link you posted clearly doesn't have a bios chip. It should be here:

If you have a different card with a chip on it, thats fine. In that case its still easier to replace the bios chip from a broken apple card and just simply flash the 512mb apple bios onto it from techpowerup, that works, i tested it. A 1gb bios exists, i have tried it and it works(i'm not gong to post it, i only got it for testing from a fellow macrumors user). But really theres no point doing this as these cards will fail the same way as the apple version.

Why though there are no web drivers yet, and no no one has tried Pascal. If it did work we would have no backlight which is fine we are finding ways (dying light module) around it.
[doublepost=1550959694][/doublepost]
Was that with web drivers in HS? I had an MXM card do that when it wasn't seated all the way.

Looking for input. Everything is working great with my 780m card. I currently do not have a boot camp partition. Being that the AMD card is gone and I have no EFI boot screen, can I somehow install Windows 10? Is this possible now? I have parallels 14 which is ok but I am pretty sure Windows would be 2x better if it were native

Since it's most likely a 27" iMac, from what I heard you can make windows 10 on the 2011 iMac boot but have backlight issues. Beyond that I recommend creating a non EFI (mbr) install onto an SSD using another PC, taking the iMac back apart and using the spare SATA connector on the MLB for the Windows 10 SSD. Every time you want to boot back into Mac OS you need to PRAM reset. This is because of the Windows Boot switcher no longer working because of APFS. I think I heard somewhere a new Bootcamp control panel has been released. But I haven't had time lately to try anything.

Hi,

i would like to upgrade my imac mid 2010 27inch from a HD 5750 to a 780m.

Would a Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M 2GB MXM 3.0 B for Alienware M17x M18x work for that?

Does anyone have experience if the external monitor function will work with this card?

Thanks a lot!

Nothing can be done to enable boot screen for now. The person who runs http://www.macvidcards.com/ managed to make a custom rom for the 780m that got boot screen working(http://netkas.org/forum/index.php/topic,13815.0.html) but despite making a lot of noise he dropped off the radar and the project looks dead.

Good news is that there's a hardware mod solution to get brightness control working and there are ways to get around needing the boot screen.

Only one external monitor works with GTX765M.
I think this is the same for the GTX770/780M Dell/Alienware versions..

I have testes this and confirmed with a thunderbolt to hdmi adapter, and the fullnhd monitor worked fine.
I think higher resolutions are also supported, but I have not tested them myself.

Thanks to this post I'm going to change the graphics card on my 27" 2011 iMac as soon as I get it (I have baked the current HD 6970 and it's working fine, but I know that it's a temporally fix).

I have ordered one new GTX770M from this eBay seller: https://www.ebay.es/itm/NEW-Dell-Al...881512?hash=item5b443d23e8:g:lyMAAOSwwPtcbXHl as it's the only one that I have found that it's selling new cards (unfortunately the shipment and the customs to Europe has increased the bill a bit).

I want to install the card and Mojave in a row. What would be the best way of achieving it? Install the card and then use the MacBook Air to install Mojave in the iMac HDD?

Thanks a lot for all the info and the hints.
