Success!! The second room vbios did the trick. Going to keep on HS for the moment as I'm waiting for a replacement DVD drive to make another recovery CD. Then I'll hopefully not need to remove the screen again for a LONG time.

Getting pretty good at it though!

I am off to poor a well-deserved cocktail!

Just want to share: I have 2 iMac 12.2 running OCLP 0.4.6 /Catalina 19H1922 in VMM SMBIOS successfully und reliable running TDM. Both iMacs have been upgraded with Polaris cards - WX4150 and WX4130. Full Airplay 1/2 capability is working too. Nice. Thanks again to everyone who made that possible.
Hello,
i have a NVIDIA GT1050 Pascal GPU,want to intall on Catalina.OCLP 0.4.6 or 0.4.7 able to install Webdriver on Big Sur or Monterey.
How can i install OCLP 0.4.6 or 0.4.7 on Catalina? because dortania have removed Mojave/Catalina Root Patching from OCLP 0.4.4.
thanks

Read post #1.

Hilarious :)
  1. The M6100 works without OpenCore! But it will surely not work without a BIOS.
  2. The BIOS (which is basically a program to run the GPU) is stored a special chip on the graphics card, you do not patch the NVRAM to the BIOS, there is simply no connection.
  3. OpenCore provides a GPU name database which will be used during macOS runtime to set proper names like the AMD FirePro M6100 you got. The name does not change the functionality at all.
  4. OpenCore (OCLP) is needed to allow booting of any unsupported macOS starting with Mojave.
Reading my post again, I agree :).
It was late night here in Norway, sorry for the confusion.
I DID actually flash the VBIOS before plopping the M6100 into my non-OC High Sierra iMac, and I will try NOT to confuse the terms NVRAM and VBIOS again, I promise! I have edited my hilarious post.

I haven't seen this mentioned before. If you're having trouble getting the network to come up with the USB stick, try setting the ip address manually:

Edit boot/grub/grml64small_default.cfg and add an ip kernel parameter.

For example:
linux <snip> nomodeset ip=10.0.0.55::10.0.0.1:255.255.255.0::eth0:off

This was the only way I could get the network to come up on a mid 2011 imac.
It's also helpful to use a usb stick with a blinking light to know it's booting.
I have the same issue, the boot usb works, I tried it on another Mac.
When trying to boot the actual iMac, the USB drive flashes and the iMac doesn't shut off by itself so its doing something - though I get port22: Operation timed out...

I saw that he added the line linux <snip> nomodeset ip=10.0.0.55::10.0.0.1:255.255.255.0::eth0:off not at the end of the line, but inside/between this line?
linux /boot/grml64small/vmlinuz apm=power-off boot=live nonce net. ifnames=0 "$-->HERE<--{loopback}" "$ kernelopts)" persistence live-media-path=/live/grm164-small/bootid=412f976b-eB0e-42df-8790-01a9f2c94012ssh=flash vga=normal nomodeset

D9518818-24FC-46A3-9639-F290F2337D20.jpeg

Like this ? Is that correct?
He never got a reply if it was correct? Nor did he post anything else after... Can someone resolve this mystery? o_O

I do not have a solution, my Mojave installer crashes too. Maybe start working with a std HighSierra install using OCLP, and getting it working w/ 6100 first?
Were you able to get your update working? My replacement DVD Drive arrived today, I burnt a Recovery CD then upgraded from HS to Monterey. Was a fairly simple process, I followed the steps in the dortania GitHub post. Just in case you haven't seen it, the link is here: OC Guide

Hi everyone, just want to let you guys know I recently got a dell precision 7720 with a wx7100 inside for less than the price of the card alone 😄. I can confirm the card that shipped inside the laptop originally is a version 1.1 card.

Is there a way to install the dark boot screen with the white Apple logo? I have seen some references to doing so, but it appears there might be some changes done to the boot EFI file. Now that I have everything working, don't want to take the chance of screwing it up!

If we have a xeon cpu with no Igpu on an iMac 27 mid 2011, will have another behavior regarding sleep/wake with an Amd m6100 (or other with broken sleep/wake feature)?

No, the iGPU would be disabled by OCLP anyway and both problems (enabled iGPU breaks sleep/wake, AMD GCN dGPU breaks sleep/wake) are totally unrelated.

The M6100, W6170M, and W7170M will additionally cause NVRAM corruption in the iMac12,2 - you will likely have to reset the NVRAM on each cold boot.

I’m not a programmer, so, just to confirm my perspective. Has i told before, i’m thinking about trade my 780m to a “budget” AMD card (wx4130/50 i cannot find one in europe, buy one from China, to many taxes, wx4170 and wx7100 are just a no-no regarding total costs).
The cards you refer have (for now) fair price for a fair price machine (iMac 27 mid 2011).

AMD FirePro M6100 Revisited: Windows 10

FireProM6100.Saturn-mxm.png

There have been some problems with the correct initialization of drivers for Windows 10 with the vbios I had originally published referencing @jay508 post #18,929. I have reworked the vbios and tested it on Windows 10 installation:

Test machine:
-Mid 2010 Core i3 iMac 11,3

Problem #1 Analysis:
-The VGA bootloader and PfR (platform firmware resiliency - a type of firmware protection) from a IM17,1 was used in my original .rom thinking this could increase compatibility. The opposite was true, the PfR rejects the root of trust of windows 10 drivers.
-You could theoretically replace the PfR with zeros and see what happens.
-There is a ‘far-call’ being made to these regions in the header and this needed to have been modified to point there properly.
-Original Dell bootloader modules worked out nicely maybe because these MXM cards were originally designed to work in a PC-based environment.

Problem #2 Analysis:
-subsystem ID of 0x106B used in Apple computers will not be recognized in a Windows 10 install. The GPU clock is "0" and the pixel fill rate doesn't register a reading.
-A Hex edit back to the Dell subsystem ID: 0x1028 seems to trigger driver recognition. I used GPU-Z to verify its recognition in windows, see below.

Windows 10 Installation:
I’m sure you all know that Windows 10 needs to be installed in Legacy mode. This requires you to create a hybrid MBR on disk0. I then use Opencore on a SD to launch the OC bootpicker. Next, a rEFInd boot-manager can be used from within Opencore to select the 'Windows 10' partition (I'm sure there are other ways to do this, this works for me). From what I remember, OCLP works well with UEFI Windows 10, but there isn't yet a way to select MBR based Windows from within the OCLP bootloader. Anyhow for the moment, I believe 'Legacy' installs in our 2009/2010/2011 machines are the way to go. They are very stable and you will not get clitches (Cirrus Audio problems, random reboots, etc) associated with Win10 uefi installs:

msinfo32:
win10_msinfo32_Legacy.PNG

PowerPlayTable Modifications:
I’ve increased the GPU Clock freq to 1100Mhz and the Mem Freq to 1450Mhz, tested with Valley score and no artifacts. You can increase the sizes as you wish. I’ve shown the necessary areas to modified:
GPU&MemFreq_M6100mod.png

bookmark 1: points to the GPU speed
bookmark 2: points to the MEM speeds, remember there are multiple entries

Other Mods in this ROM:
TDP Max: 115W
Power Limit: 110W
TDC Limit: 82A
Added MEM max clock: 1450Mhz
Added GPU max clock: 1320Mhz

GPU-Z (Windows 10):

Finally, Windows 10 will work nicely with its own built-in Crimson 17.Q4.1 video drivers and detects the card as the proper M6100 and not a HD8530 or other sub-variant:

M6100_1150Mhz_1450Mhz_Crimson_17.Q4.1_win10_drivers_2017.gif

The updated ROM is below, I will add a link to the original post. If someone can independently verify this ROMs utility in a Win 10 environment, I would be grateful, and will update the original VBIOS post.

Cheers!

nikey22 Hi In iMac12, 2 models tested support uefi windows10, installed multiple versions of the HD8950 M6100 driver, test performance play is not normal.

GPU core frequency is locked to run only at 300MHz
20220730122730.png

Your GPU-Z screenshot shows driver version 22.19.693.256 (17.Q4.1) operating at normal frequency?

Driver adaptation tool detection does not match this public version of the driver, please ask how to get this version of your driver?

5、The exciting time has come
1. After using OCLP to guide the macos12 Apple logo progress bar, the screen has been black, and the system login interface cannot be displayed. If anyone knows how to solve it, please help me.
tempImageUeyzGk.png
tempImage0jVRKi.png

2. Using OCLP to guide uefi win10 can enter the system normally and use it normally. The exciting thing is that both miniDp ports can be used, and both support 5k monitors, because I only have one 5k monitor, so I am not sure whether to support simultaneous points Light up two 5k monitors. At least it can be confirmed that it supports one 5K and one 4K monitor at the same time, which is much more powerful than the WX7100 can only support one 4K monitor.

Guess that's mission impossible. Nvidia Webdrivers for the Pascal cards are as far as I know restricted to MacOS Versions up to High Sierra. See Page 1 for supported cards/Bioses

Have you tested if iMac internal screen is working with your GT1050 card ? If so, please post your vbios here.

WebDrivers only work with full acceleration up to High Sierra, and due to recent OCLP developments Nvidia has revoked their digital signature, which is a problem. Using latest OCLP versions you can add support for WebDrivers on Big Sur and Monterey, but only with legacy acceleration patches (no Metal, much like HD3000 and the like), which makes it really not worth it.
Maybe in the future OCLP could add Metal support to WebDrivers on such systems (I think WebDrivers support some kind of Metal API), which would be great and enable Maxwell and Pascal cards to work on Big Sur and Monterey, but that is not the case now.

Back to some facts:

Tonight (after forgetting the fix for months) @dfranetic resent me my own fixed M4000-GOP.rom which makes the use of the AMDGOP.efi within OpenCore superfluous - i.e. no more manual modifications, just download and run OCLP to install a new OpenCore version will offer the OC boot screen.

To avoid scattering of data across all pages I just updated my own post about the card.

Sleep/wake in the iMac12,2 is still a problem, this iMac+card combo currently refuses to enter the sleep mode entirely. At least no crashes so far. Will report back tomorrow morning.

Update:
Over night the iMac12,2 finally decided to enter sleep state and crashed on wake the next morning. So no news about GCN cards running in iMac12,x systems.

Made a new bios using a new M5100 bios that has the single Hynix (AFR Type) ram config (DVS0) (Attached) - With this combo the ram shows correctly as below - So... I'm all done I think :)

Important things I've learned
1. Always backup the original rom before you flash
2. Use ATOMTableResize to combined rom - don't try to do this manually ... its a real time killer :p
3. Even without the EFI boot loader I prefer AMD as I don't need to patch the drivers back in

My collection is now....

I think its time to add a 2010 and 2011 to fill the gap :)

Big thank you, saved an iMac 11,2 with an I3 from the scrapheap, runs beautifully, quiet and cool Big Sur now

The hardware is only modified, and the merchant will only sell the modified cards, so there is no need for the player to make a second modification. Of course, if someone has this kind of card and needs to modify it, you can privately message me. Of course, this is not a very simple matter, and it also requires professional skills. If you make a mistake, the card will be burned.
The more you post, the more ridiculous the story becomes. This looks like another big far east scam.

We had already many reports from users complaining about not working NVIDIA cards which were hardware modified by merchants from far east.

Posting simple advertisements of (own) products is clearly not allowed, so please stop posting until you want to share some insights about your hardware modifications and can prove these mods are working in an iMac12,2 with the internal display connected running macOS.

Just out of love to study the upgrade of imac2011 graphics card, My research just wanted to tell everyone that the 5500XT 8G is available for imac2011 in addition to the WX7100 and is perfect in every way, fully functional and powerful.
