Hi there. I've found the card on AliExpress. I assume it's the same one of the reviews has your same photos in it.

Could I ask how much of a hassle was it to install?

I've currently got a A1311 with a Radeon 6770m in it. No problem swapping the graphics card out, but haven't dived into the software side yet.

The seller sent out the card with the proper vbios for your machine. Besides that, could you explain the process you used to get it working? I see the sellers detailed description, but would love to hear your thoughts and process on this.

If it is the correct seller, then you should take reference the seller's description and guidance. It's in English and very detailed.

Absolutely. But I would also like a buyers perspective as well. The guide is in English, but it's not 100 percent perfectly clear as well.

The more information we have from multiple people's experience the better, don't you agree?

Hardware wise, from your statement: "No problem swapping the graphics card out", I assume you have enough experience with this 2-3 hour process. This is the hard part of the GPU upgrading work. And it's the same as all other cards.
Software wise, you can prepare the OS disk before swapping cards. It would take less than 15 minutes of actual work from the seller description, if you know your trade and your iMac. It would take more to learn about it if you started from zero knowledge like I did.
Troubleshooting can take weeks or months.

hello) it's not difficult, you don't need to make modifications, you just take the old one and put a new one ;) before installing in the Efi folder of the bootable disk with macos, you need to write Opencore Legacy Patcher, the seller will provide you with a cable for the desired image, you only need to write it, and after replacing the card, everything will start without problems) there is no need to rearrange the system) by the way, it works perfectly with Windows, games they work, everything is great) you just need to disable the processor graphics, the instructions are here)

Thank you for that.

Have you been able to update MacOS past High Sierra?

Have a nice day, everyone.I have an imac 27 2011.I bought an Amd m6100.When starting the imac, the screen is black, there is a system startup sound. But 3 LEDs are not lit.Does this mean that the m6100 is faulty?Or do I need to flash another vbios?

Experimental AMD M6000 2GB support (AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2GB)

TypeidentBIOS versiondevice-idworking
Blue AMD PCB109-C42251-00BM60006825yes

This GPU will be identified by the macOS as AMD FirePro M6000 and by MetalBench and GeekBench5 as AMD Radeon R9 M370X. The current vBIOS supports Hynix video memory.

Warning:
This card is easy to install but complex to manage during the initial software installation.
You need to install OpenCore in advance and add the changes posted before booting into macOS.

The card will not boot into macOS without the adjusted CAIL values in the config.plist.

...
Guys, I need help. I have install a M6000 into several imac 12,2 2011 27" imacs this past 6 months but now I'm having a problem. My previous installs I have upgraded the CPU with an intel Xeon e3-1275 but this time I'm using an i7-2600. This may or may not have something to do with the problem.

My issue is this: Upon a cold power-on boot, OCLP picker works, the default Big Sur partition boots and after the inital Apple Logo appears for 3-4 seconds the screen clears, the backlight comes on but I get no output displayed (blank screen). I know the imac is now waiting for login but nothing is on the screen. This only happens on power-on, not on reboot.

I can work around this issue 2 ways, one is at the OCLP picker menu hit space and choose "reset nvram" and reboot. Upon reboot the OCLP picker auto-starts the Big Sur partition and this time the graphics come up. The second way is to again hit space and choose "recovery", let recovery boot then reset and again the OCLP picker auto-starts Big Sur and this time the graphics work.
I have built OCLP using the latest 0.6.1 but I am finding that using any GUI version I cannot set the MMX GPU type to AMD (GCN) in Developer settings, it will not stick. So I rebuild OCLP with the last TUI (0.4.10) and followed the instructions on the "complex to manage" page with the same results.

One other thing, if I build OCLP with 0.2.4 TUI and install it, OCLP picker comes up, default Big Sur boots, Apple logo appears, disappears, then the imac reboots (OS crashes) and at the second reboot again everything starts fine. I then compared config.plists (0.6.1 with 0.2.4) and removed all the 0.6.1 unique settings so it matched the 0.2.4, but the same results - no graphics. What am i doing wrong? I thought it might be related to the iGPU on the i7-2600 but that appears to be disabled by OCLP.

OK, thanks, I'll try!
Hello,

After numerous intents to flash this card with the SSH-method, I suspect my card is not the Nvidia K2000M card (see attachment). Could anyone help me confirm that the card is or is not the Nvidia K2000M?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

The pictures show an Nvidia 2000M, while you need the K2000M - easy to confuse those two, but the K means Kepler and is the most important part of the name for us.

Well it ALWAYS comes back to reading the first page post again, this issue seems to be known with the AMD GCN V1-3 (Venus cards), page 1 in BRIGHT RED FONT:

Sleep and wake is broken... Needs a PRAM reset on each cold boot - DO NOT USE IN 2011 iMac12,x systems.

Ok, so not exactly a PRAM reset, a Nvram reset will fix the issue or booting into Recovery mode (for some reason) will fix the issue. Like I said I've installed this card half a dozen times in 12,2 models with the Xenon CPU and no issues. I never thought about it because it always worked. I spent hours going though this thread and never found mention of this issue with these cards.

So my next question is can I (should I) just flash the AMD EFI boot support BIOS changes on the imac and adapter, the post indicates it works with Venus adapters and that also provides EFI picker. The cold start should be fine, right?

I re-ran OCLP 0.2.4 TUI, setting only the 2 values mentioned (Assume Metal GPU - AMD GPU, and Set Generic Bootstrap - EFI/BOOT/BOOTx64.efi), then hand edited the config.plist and added at CAIL values. As I said above, on cold boot it crashes right after the Apple logo, reboots and starts the graphics just fine. Now I looked at the crash, the backtrace shows the crash in the AMDRadeonX4000 module (Process: WindowServer). This makes sense, but why?

Here's the crash.

Hello, I've installed a new LCD cable. The reflowed original GPU was installed, along with Big Sur with OCLP. All appeared to be working well and displaying on the screen. I installed the M6100 and met a black screen. I booted up the Linux GPU flashing tool in case the GPU I bought was not flashed correctly, (still a black screen) and I am unable to see the system on my router.

I'm guessing I may missed a OCLP configuation? I've changed the GPU in this imac 4 times now lol. The fans always go at full speed, I'm not sure how to fix that, everything appears to be attached properly.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
Andy, the M6100 does not work in the 27" 2011 imac (12,2). The imac will have nvram issues. This is discussed in the thread on page https://forums.macrumors.com/thread....1596614/page-735?post=31026910#post-31026910

Hey guys !
There's a guy in my town selling 21" iMacs for parts. He claims they only have GPU issues.
I happen to have a working spare K3000M from an HP laptop.

From what I read in the first post, the K3000M is compatible with 2010 and 2009 iMacs.
BUT it is unclear whether it is only compatible with the 27" or if it also works with 21" + heatsink mod.
Does anyone have information about this ?

I was also unable to confirm whether the only issue with the iMac was the GPU:
How can I check that the problem does not come from the display ?
