Haha, don't remind me!

Oh God  - I only re-reminded myself of this when I put ProTools 3.4 on my 8200/120 a few days ago to mess with.. Its even worse than those free audio editors that were in vogue as bloatware with PCs in sorta 2003/2004... (Im a Logic Pro dude... and proud  )

Ok, now I think release date will be Thursday next week.
All iMacs are out of stock at a reseller in Sweden, and their site says they’re expecting new stock 2011-04-29…

http://www.elgiganten.se/product/datorer-tillbehor/stationar-dator/IMACMC511SA/apple-imac-mc511

what kind of store is that though? it looks like a 3rd party reseller right?

anyway -- apple usually releases on Tuesdays, but that can still fit with your theory (giving 2-3 days to get physical inventory abroad).

Yes, you’re right. It’s just a 3rd party reseller.

Dang i just feel it's more exciting for waiting imac 2011 refresh than mbp last february

Or is it just my feeling, since i hold lack of interest on buying mbp?

Yeah but it is one of the biggest we have in Sweden:)

Looked at their page a few days ago , they had the 21,5 model but it's sold out now then. Getting a good feeling over here:D:D

I've bin searching around on forums, and couldn't find any qualified guesses concerning the hardware setup for the next iMac, so i've compared the current macbook pros with the hardware of the competition, and added the must have SSD bootdisk we've heard so many rumors about, and i just wanted to share my findings.. This is again only speculations, and i would like to hear your say :)

iMac 2011 Speculations

iMac 21,5” light
Processor: Intel i7 2,7 2620M (Bi Core)

iMac 21,5”
Processor: Intel i7 2,2 2720QM (Quad Core)

SSD bootdisk: 64 GB

iMac 27” Light

iMac 27”
Processor: Intel i7 2,3 2820QM (Quad Core)
Ram: 8 GB DDR3 1333 Mhz
Graphics: AMD 6900M Series
HD: 1 TB
SSD bootdisk: 128 GB

All include 1 Thunderbolt, 4 USB, 1 Firewire 800, 1 Ethernet, 1 audio our and 1 audio in.

No exterior changes at all.

This is my expectations, and hopes, for the new iMac!

The processors you listed are from Intel's mobile line.
Apple has been using Intel desktop processors in the iMac for a while now; at least since the Late 2009 refresh.
High end CTO 27" will contain an i7 2600 (3.4GHz/3.8GHz Turbo). That is a guarantee.

Rest of the specs you have look tasty to me. SSD would be nice, as long as it doesn't inflate the price of the iMac too much.

High end CTO 27" (I think) will have:

i7 2600 (probably won't use the K as there's no need/support for overclocking)
8GB (2x4GB) 1333 RAM (max 32GB as per 1155 chipset maximum)
1TB HD minimum
Superdrive (sigh, wtb Blu-Ray)
ATI, er, AMD Radeon 6850m (possible CTO upgrade to 6950/6970) (hope the 6970 with 2GB GDDR5 would be available as an upgrade)
1 Thunderbolt Port (preferably 2)
Usual other ports (USB2 [sigh] Firewire 800 Gigabit Ethernet (hey Apple, can I have my 9k Jumbo Frames back?) SDXC

Don't see them changing the body of the iMac anyways.

I've been saying this for a while, but I doubt it will happen (in my lifetime,) in that Apple should offer an option to remove the speakers to allow for more cooling inside the machine. iMac built-in speakers are terrible, and although they simplify the desk clutter, I feel that room could be better served for more/better cooling.)
And a return to the easy expansion/upgradability of the pre-iSight G5s would be a godsend too. I'd like to be able to add an (affordable) SSD on my terms.

Everyone wants TB, some think it's more important than the updated CPU's and GPU's, some of you even want 2 ports...

But which TB devices are you going to connect to it?
Today, there's 1 NAS... that's all! It's the only TB device there is!

And Lacie's external dual-SSD, which they announced a couple of months ago: this summer...

Why cry for TB when there are no TB devices?
I'm begging for more TB devices! Join!
Apogee, Atlona, Western Digital, OCZ,...: give us TB video hardware, SSD's,... please!

What's wrong with wanting the latest and greatest?
Sure it may not be applicable to most right now, but when it does, you will be glad you have it

If you keep your machine for a year or two then TB is largely irrelevant at the moment. If you keep it longer, than it could be highly relevant. Hopefully TB will live up to the hype sooner rather than later.

I don't even think you need to wait that long for it to be relevant. By this time next year it will be.
