I'm ordering one via Prime to have it delivered Sunday.

I'll follow up to if it's a *CAX model. If it's not, I'll just easily return it saying it doesn't match the item description for a refund. Perks of the item being "fulfilled by amazon".

Just so everyone knows, it's not the CAX model, it's the same model thats in m Late 2011 Macbook pro. No bluetooth 4.0

Edit: I'm referring to post 804 in this thread.

Hey! Why do you have the "Mac-C08A6BB70A942AC2" line in the IO80211Family.kext like 10 times in a row? I'm pretty sure it didn't look like this on mine, as per the tutorial you just have to replace the first one and the last one, not all of them.

Wow! I can't believe I made that mistake after trying it 4 times  I guess that I didn't understand that step since English isn't my first language.

I have tried but it still doesn't work in my mac. Maybe I missed something else :(

Thanks for your response!

There is a .kext edited for your MacBook Air 4.1 : https://db.tt/4K4Hg4sn
Rename this file so it matches IO80211Family.kext.
Remember you must edit the black list.

I Really appreciate your help

Downloaded the file and opening it with 0xED gives me this message:
“AirPortBrcm4360” is damaged and can’t be opened

Which .kext did you download ? Look at #950 and do only what's written. Come back to tell if it worked.

Did the kext swap and it appears to work (at least being reported correctly), however, it seems to introduce a bug with 5 Ghz Wi-Fi that is being reported for other Yosemite users on rMBP, etc. Similar to an issue I was seeing with iOS 8 on my iPad.

Symptoms are Safari acting sluggish, etc. You can ping an address and watch the wireless drop while the issue is occurring. Various applications will start to hang as well and cause general system instability.

I've seen this occur with 3 different routers on my iPad, so its definitely something that Apple seems to have introduced. Just be on the lookout for it if you enable this. Keeping the kext file stock and it doesn't occur with the CAX card. So it looks like something specific in the BRCM4360.kext, IMO anyways.

Edit: Even 2.4Ghz isn't perfect, but it's quite a bit better. Seems to drop after I attempt to do some handoffs a few times.

Macbook Air and Mac Mini needs IOBluetoothFamily editing, remember.

I'm confused. Which steps (from post #609) are skipped by replacing the IO80211Family.kext file with yours, and which don't apply for the late 2011 MBP? The ones relating to the IOBluetoothFamily.kext file? What's the difference between the ZIP and KEXT files that you uploaded? Thanks for your help.

9. Open Finder and hit CMD+Shift+G, go to ~/Desktop/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/Plugins/AirPortBrcm4360.kext/Contents/MacOS
Note: if you have a different OS language, you might need to replace "Desktop" in the path with your local translation.

I got stuck on this step because there was no file AirPortBrcm4360.kext and I'm not quite sure how to proceed. Any recommendations?

Just wanted to say thanks for those and the work people put in to get it working.

Tried editing mine several times but I must've fudged something weird but one of those worked great.

Yes, each time an update overwrites the patched files, you will have to repatch to your saved modded originals. Only a 2 min job so no biggie.

MacBook Pro late 2008

Hi guys,
I got a vintage (as apple said me) MacBook Pro late 2008 and reading this topic I was wondering to know if it's possible to pimp my Mac to get the handoff setting!
It would be really great having good news from someone because I've already pimped it with SSD HDD and 8 gb RAM, so it works perfectly!
Thanks to everyone will spend 1 sec to answer me ;)

No way, sorry, you won't find any BT 4.0LE card for your 2008 Mac i presume.

There is no difference at all except one is... zipped the other isn't. Better download the zipped one, so i can sha1 or md5 if you think it's corrupted.

Download, unzip, rename and follow steps one after the other.

More APPLE parts pls refer here:

Thanks again :)

Sorry but i don't trust you, i bought a card from you in June, promising it will be the 4CAX Version, but it was the 4AX. I returned it to you and never heard of you since, no refound at all, it was ~20€ plus the price for returning the item plus the price of a new one that really was 4CAX.

Thanks. How does using your pre-edited file alter the "tutorial" steps?

All you need to do if you download one of my file is :

remove your Mac id from the name of the kext so it matches IO80211Family.kext.

Download and unzip from :

https://db.tt/4K4Hg4sn

Delete IO80211Family.kext from /Systeme/Library/Extensions

Reboot, wifi is now dead.

Copy unzipped IO80211Family.kext to /Systeme/Library/Extensions

Terminal this :
Code:
sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"
Code:
sudo chown -R root:wheel /Système/Bibliothèque/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext
Code:
sudo chmod -R 644 /Système/Bibliothèque/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext
Code:
sudo kextcache -system-prelinked-kernel
Code:
sudo kextcache -system-caches

Reboot.

Look for Handoff check box in System Preferences.

Is this instead of the #609 tutorial? I saw it earlier, but wasn't sure. Thanks.

Good news for 2011 MacBook Air and 2011 Mac mini owners, here's a refreshed tutorial that enables Continuity on those machines as well. No hardware upgrade is required on these Macs. Handoff, Instant Hotspot, and iOS↔OSX Airdrop now fully work. I've tested it with Yosemite GM (14A379a).

...

So if I understand correctly from reading all posts, this only works on a MacbookPro early 2011 if the new hardware piece is installed?

My specs:
Macbook Pro (13', early 2011)
2,3 GHz Intel Core i5
8GB 1333 MHz DDR3

(Nee = No, Ja = Yes, Ingeschakeld = Enabled)
