This is the type of experience, of several replacements with similar problems, which convinces me and others here that this is more than just a problem that affects a couple of faulty units. I firmly believe that this is a design fault, and it doesn't sound like it's been addressed in this new revisions, but I'm hoping that further testing by some of the individuals that have kept this thread alive will prove me wrong.
I'll let you know when I get mine which just changed to preparing for shipment build to order.

Exactly my thoughts too. This isn't just the odd defective one. There is an inherent design flaw IMO.

Why isn't this a #gate thing already?

Anyone with a twitter account and enough visibility to jumpstart it? I mean, have you seen the amount of people with this issue?

I love Apple and their products as much as the next, but this is embarrassing.

We are not all buddhist monks, these things can really disturb your day to day life. I rely on this machine for work! I can't keep exchanging it!

And because there's no Apple Store here, sending it for repair takes a huge amount of time... it's painful to have to deal with this.

I think they are referring to the MacBook getting the new keyboard not the MacBook Pro.

iFixit did say the MacBook Pro did get a thinned out butterfly to accommodate the. Re classic switch underneath. Who knows if it's actually going to fix the issue but most people have said it does fix it

I'm in the process of getting an advanced replacement (again) with the spec bumped MBP. I'll post my findings in a week or two. Hope this issue is put to rest finally.

So I just got a voicemail from my new rep, the person I was working with a month ago is no longer with Apple. He is asking me to send in my MBP again for it to be fixed. The first time it was damaged by the repair "depot" and the prior advanced replacement MBP was "repaired" with the shim fix and still experienced problems. I'm not doing another depot repair. I called back and now waiting for a return phone call. This is insane.

I just spoke with Apple and they pasted the fix instructions for certain keys making noise when the laptop is hot. It involved a shim like you mentioned. So you are saying you were still experience the loud clicking with the same keys even after the shim fix was done?

Yes, and those "fixed" keys felt off. They had a different feel than the other keys. A keyboard should have a uniform feel to it. Completely bogus. Apple has really screwed up this design.

So was the sound just as loud as before? What was the feel like after the fix? Were your keys only having issues when the laptop was hot?

Still installing shims? This is a design problem!
Honestly I don't care what they put under the keys as long as it stops the heat causing a couple of keys to click loudly.

The all still made a "pop" sound, in addition they felt stiffer. Very annoying.

Marco Arment from the Accidental Tech Podcast (http://atp.fm) has had the keyboard issue that he feels is caused from heat. The last he spoke about it on the podcast he had not yet taken it in for repair. Marco commented that when he Tweeted about the issue (https://twitter.com/marcoarment
- May 19) that he heard from many fellow sufferers. You or anyone else still having keyboard issues might want to email Marco at ATP or contact him on Twitter.

These are the podcasts and times where Marco's keyboard issue is discussed:
222: AS THIN AS HUMANS WILL TOLERATE http://atp.fm/episodes/222 - 1:04:22

223: THROW THE FORK AWAY http://atp.fm/episodes/223 @ 1:00 - Marco talks about hearing from people on Twitter who have keyboard issues with their 2016 MPB

224: YEARNING FOR REFLECTION @ 1:16 http://atp.fm/episodes/224 - 1:14

Marco doesn't seem to be interested in pursuing insider relationships at Apple but he does maintain close contact with other podcasters including John Gruber who does have inside Apple contacts. Also, ATP is a very good podcast and it would not surprise me if at least some influential people at Apple listen to it.

John Gruber hosted Marco Arment on his Talk Show podcast.
‘AAA PODCAST’, WITH SPECIAL GUEST MARCO ARMENT https://daringfireball.net/thetalkshow/2017/02/22/ep-182

‘CRACK MARKETING TEAM’ — LIVE FROM WWDC 2017 WITH PHIL SCHILLER AND CRAIG FEDERIGHI https://daringfireball.net/thetalkshow/2017/06/08/ep-193

After the problem not being fixed for months if anyone gets gets a faulty keyboard after an exchange or repair it would probably be a good idea to let Time Cook know at tcook@apple.com.

Lisa from Mobile Tech Review says she feels like the 2017 15" MBP w/ Kaby Lake keyboard feels different to her....now when a high tech person like herself feels there is something different that makes my ears perk up....

I watched this earlier and I said the same thing. There clearly has to be some sort of difference and the people that can't feel the difference just don't know.

For those that don't want to watch the entire video, Lisa talks about the keyboard at about 55 sec mark and then again about 9:09 into the video she talks about it again. Interesting since she really knows her stuff. :)

Seems to me the keyboard is a loud mess. If this video is accurate, I wouldn't want this "new" keyboard...

I've been able to use my '17 13" tb model more last night and the keys do feel better to me vs '16. They seem to have a tad more give when pressing on a key. The surface doesn't feel as hard when typing. Not a huge difference but noticeable. No stuck keys for me either. My '16 model had a stuck 6 and fn key.

I type hard and it feels like there's slightly more cushion behind the keys.
