I also received preparing to ship update!

8x8/16gb/512/Blue with extended numpad and Magic Mouse

would love a blue trackpad, but I already own one and will probably use the Logi MX 3 anyways.

Middle tier (8/256) purple here, ordered within an hour of opening. Still in the processing phase but as of this morning the arrival time has slipped by a few days. Was May 21-27, now it's showing May 24-28. Not a big change, but still. Curious.

So Calif
Mine is shipped! Green 512/16 on it's way to NM USA via FedEx. No estimated delivery yet.
Whoa - FED-EX ?

I guess some are going via UPS and others are FED-EX - would be interesting to see the reasoning (base vs mid model vs optioned vs colors)....

Recent orders: iPhone 12 Pro was UPS and M1 Mini was FED-EX...

I received my confirmation email for a Blue 16g/256 4 minutes after the site opened for orders. Still stuck on processing. Happy, and envious, of the posters above but would love to know Apple's logic and process.

That's where I am too... definitely starting to get antsy. Oh who am I kidding, I was getting antsy about 5 minutes after I got the email.

May 21-27 delivery is still easily achievable, not gonna hit the panic button yet. Status from Apple is definitely hard to interpret, but they normally hit their dates on the initial set of orders I think.

Don’t. They’ll say they can but they’ll end up cancelling the order and reordering with the new keyboard you wanted.
This happened to me a long time ago on an iMac 27 inch custom build to order. Somehow I accidentally ordered a Swiss extended keyboard instead of U.S. I didn't know it until it actually got delivered. I called CS to see if they could exchange just the keyboard and they said the only way they could is I had to ship the whole computer back and they send a whole new one. That was a no go for me. They did say however, that I could just take the Swiss keyboard into an Apple Store and they could possible just exchange it out. I did, and they did! I was happy about that.

So Calif
FedEx usual means it ships from the US, UPS ships from China.
Makes sense - my M1 Mini was delivered via Fed-Ex without tracking history from China. I only received tracking the day before that it had shipped from Ontario, California. Sure enough, got it next day on launch day....

And the strange part was that others on the forum were getting theirs from China - via UPS Next Day International.

So I wonder if Apple may have had shipments already in the USA staged/stored at FedEx warehouses for their Apple Stores ??
