... I have a question! The service UPS is shipping the iMac with is called "UPS Worldwide Express Saver". This service guarantees 2-day business day delivery here in Canada. Is there a chance we might get the iMacs earlier than the 21st (my scheduled delivery date)?
Apple usually instructs the carriers to hold the packages until launch day, but there are occasional slip ups...

I see! It's interesting because unlike other launches this launch is just "second half of may" which could theoretically mean we could get it any time after the 17th onwards.. we shall see! waiting game it is :)

i screwed up when ordering mine. i have a June 1 - 8 delivery. However I forgot to order the keyboard with touch id and numeric keypad. Is it possible they may sell it as an accessory?

For those that though that the larger thermal envelope of the iMac will be used by Apple to increase the clock speed, and therefore the performance of the M1, bad news :( It seems like it is exactly the same than in all the other Apple M1 devices.

The last few times I have ordered from Apple the shipment has shown up on the Apple site or UPS/Fedex until it has landed in a major hub in the US like Kentucky. Don't know anything about Canada or Europe.

If I remember correctly they said the only way to get the color matched accessories atm would be to order them with your Mac. I was originally going to wait on the trackpad but said screw it and bought it now because I was afraid Apple wouldn't offer them in colors on their own.

No, Apple will have the carrier hold them until the official release date.

Apple has done this with my M1 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro - sits in the carrier's warehouse in pallets waiting for the day of launch...

Jealous of those who have their shipping notice. Mine is currently scheduled for the 27th (UK) and I have another one which has the 16gb ram and trackpad for the 22nd June which I’m hoping comes earlier as I plan to return the base one for the upgraded one.

A shame as well as my initial custom 16gb one which I had for 3rd June was cancelled as the lady on apples iMessage support told me it wouldn’t be cancelled if I upgraded my keyboard. Turns out it did.

Not to dampen any enthusiasm necessarily, but in the past when shipments appear to be moving ahead of schedule, units actually in the channel have been held so they don't arrive too soon.

Apple and their carriers have proven to have very tight relationships in the past.

I will respond to my own post however, with an additional thought - that orders moving to preparing to ship, or actually shipping, do at least mean that those people will almost certainly be getting their new iMacs on the first available day. Everyone else still has to wait. And even those with May 21-27 'arrival' don't have any way to know if it will be at the start or the end of that period.

You will know however, if you have UPS My Choice. You can look it up with a reference number just like you can when iPhones ship.

I think it’s more about seeing progress and worried about being delivered late. I’d rather see progress now and have it held for scheduled delivery. Compared to seeing progress late and getting it a couple days late.

Yes, but the first day of delivery is on a Friday!

Does that mean if UPS does not deliver on Friday, the next delivery day is Monday ?
I know UPS sometimes will deliver on the weekend, but lately they haven't.

Oh my, that will make me too anxious!

I was a few minutes late getting my order in (confirmation email arrived 11 minutes after ordering opened), but my arrival date has been May 21-27 the whole time. Mine still says processing. Ordered the higher-end model with 16GB RAM, only 256gb (doing external SSD), and the touchid keyboard with keypad, in green.

I have UPS My Choice. What reference number would we use to track?
This is what UPS says:
”A shipment reference is an identifier that you define by completing the "reference" fields during the shipping process. This reference could be a purchase order (PO) number, a customer number, a company name, a Bill of Lading number, or a phrase that identifies that shipment -- such as "10 crates" or "gift for Mom." Shipment references can be any combination of letters and numbers up to 35 characters.”

I have used my phone number successfully many times. Also, for some, the Apple order number minus the last two digits has worked. You just have to try inputting different stuff until it works.
GOOD LUCK!
