That's my gripe with this 'pre-order' scenario, you order on the 30th for a reason, to get it before others, but the general public will be able to head to a store and pick one up tomorrow... the way they allocate things seems crazy, this situation has made me realise to not pre-order things as it doesn't seem to work as you'd hope, my mac isn't actually leaving till the 8th, and is meant to be delivered on the 14th..
I’m quite happy with the pre-order system. Most of my apple products have been bought on release day by preorder and with very few exceptions they have arrived on release day.

Sometimes, especially recently, the original date has been after Release day, but on all but one occasion they have actually arrived on release date. This includes the Apple TV I ordered this time which was scheduled for 27th but is arriving today.

The exception is my iMac, which is currently preparing for shipment and I expect to receive some time next week. It is not a standard model so there is no way that I would be able to walk into a store today and pick one up. Therefore even in this scenario I am getting it well before I would be able to if I hadn’t preordered.

I haven’t been following this thread closely, but the impression I get is that most people who ordered relatively standard machines are getting them today. The rest of us are still doing better than if we had waited.

What the….. my order status just changed back from “preparing for shipment” to “processing”…… what’s happening?! (Netherlands)
Don’t panic, it’s probably just a glitch. Maybe it is an error when changing it to delivered. :)

I don’t think that it would have got this far if there was a payment problem, so I expect it will resolve itself soon.

There is indeed no payment problem, it is still on hold a charge on the credit card. They did add “Friday” now before just “28 May” at delivery estimate. So maybe they expected it to be delivered earlier but came in late. Difficult playing this waiting game haha

A lot of 16gb 1TB models available for store collection in London. Looks like that’s the chosen custom ones they have for instore pick up. Although I can get UNiDAYS discount to make it £1884, can’t justify spending that much on it so sticking to my base 8gb 256 model.

I find it amusing how they do this - but if you want a trackpad that’s only available at the time of purchase, you’ve got to order online and wait.

(Yellow/16/256/mouse+trackpad arriving next week but impatient me wants it today! ?)

My iMac said not would be delivered today 09:30-12:30.. this morning I saw the tracking changed to "check back tomorrow".. For some reason the iMac started life (according to UPS) in Cork, Ireland, now it's in Germany, and has to get to England for delivery. Weird route - UPS have delayed it, so I guess no iMac for me today.

Anyone else in England having the same?

Exactly! A shame they don’t sell the coloured accessories. You would think Apple would sell them as a way to make more money because let’s be real, LOADS of people would buy the coloured lighting cables and trackpads. Might just have to buy a silver one. Unless anyone has a blue one they’re willing to sell…. Highly unlikely though ?

That's rubbish news :(

I *think* I've been lucky in that mine took the same route, Ireland to Germany and back to the UK, but does show as out for delivery now, having left Southampton at 7.30am this morning. I'll believe it though when I see it. Where abouts in the country are you? What config?

Message underneath "processing" (which was first preparing for shipment) now changed to; "When your article is ready, you will receive a message" instead of the usual "We have all the information we need etc. etc.". Seems like Apple can't make up their mind

Update; called Apple and he said that indeed there was a change in their 'commitment day' apparently. Everything for the order is fine and financial authorization was already checked and approved. Could see in system it would be the latest next week friday and that apparently I will be one of the firsts in the NL with this config (Silver,16/1tb), but that could also be some sweettalking ;-)

If you want it today, try the apple store? I’ve seen the 16gb 1TB config in blue and silver available for store pickup.
