i was suprised that the package was bigger than the impression I got from the vids plus a lot heavier package than I expected also.Anyone else find the iMac WAY heavier than expected? The way YouTube reviewers were talking about it made it sound ridiculously light, one even said it felt the same as lifting up their 12.9" iPad wtf lol
I think most of them are comparing the weight to the earlier models. I had the first 21,5“ iMac for a while and this thing was just soooo heavy… if you never had that experience then I think it’s harder to be surprised of the weight.Several reviewers casually grabbed it and lifted it with one hand as if it were a toy while saying it weighs the same as an iPad lol, I’m not saying it’s too heavy at all but I don’t think it weighs any less than it looks. They all seemed shocked that such a thin computer was so light, I was expecting it to almost feel cheap
Tell me about it?. Been sitting here playing ‘walking in Memphis‘?Sorry to see your still dealing with this ********. I hope come Monday you and everyone else who is having this issue get it solved and get your iMacs moving and on their way to you.
Seeing as I also had FedEx as a shipper and my iMac also was in Memphis all week I wonder why I got my iMac with no issues but there was issues with yours and others? it just doesn't make any sense to me.
UPS delivered my base model on May 21st (I ordered on April 30th). Also, my computer was shipped from Carlisle, PA. But, I don't know where the local UPS truck emanates. The weather was good so couldn't be any local weather related issue delay, in my case. Are the shipping issues only happening with FedEx or is anyone with UPS having issues?
I didn’t pay attention to the reviewers. It’s 10lbs, I know what 10lbs feels like. It’s 50% lighter than my monitor without a stand (27” UltraFine 5K). So, yeah, it’s light. Not iPad light, that’s just ridiculous for them to even say, an iPad is 1lb. They’d have to defy the laws of physics to get an iMac that size to 1lb.Anyone else find the iMac WAY heavier than expected? At my age 10 lbs feels heavy. I look at the little barbell ... and it says: "don't even try". So, I don't.I didn’t pay attention to the reviewers. It’s 10lbs, I know what 10lbs feels like. Was yours tracked from China or did it originate from PA ?UPS delivered my base model on May 21st (I ordered on April 30th). Also, my computer was shipped from Carlisle, PA. GOT IT! THANKS! Mine shows it cleared on Friday 21st. at not quite 4:00 p.m. Memphis time. I don't know why it took until Friday to clear since it had been siting there since the Saturday before. Hope this means it being sent out soon. Still showing as pending delivery though. Thanks again.if you go to shipment facts and then google your master tracking number, then track your master tracking number and click shipment facts, then you will see clearance detail link (that does not show up on your original tracking) that you need to click. When you get to the next page, type in your master tracking number in the search, it should tell you the status of your customs...shows customs release was received for my package late Friday.
Yes there are more Apple warehouses across the country - I got my pre-ordered M1 Mini in November from Ontario, CA (skipped the entire China to US tracking)....Mine was also from Carlisle, PA. It was already staged there. No way to know how long it had been there, but long enough for it to have already been there before it was assigned to be the box that would be mine.
It is one of Apple's regional warehousing facilities though. There's a fairly interesting (short) article about 'Apple's Secret Distribution Center' at https://www.theapplepost.com/2020/10/23/inside-apples-distribution-center-in-carlisle-pennsylvania/
I’m getting there, lol. I appreciate lighter machines when reorganizing things. At my age 10 lbs feels heavy. I look at the little barbell ... and it says: "don't even try". So, I don't.

Ive not took mine out the box yet so will update that bit later
The entire package is 27 pounds, the iMac itself around 7 or 8. So yes, the packaging on its own weights more than double the computer. It might be my imagination but I think the box actually weighs more than the machine!
Sorry, I never tracked it. All of a sudden the delivery date changed from a May 24th delivery, to May 21st. I wonder if they just 'found' one on the shelf? Another thing I noticed: both the M1 Mac mini and the M1 iMac were showing up on my Apple Card balance due ... I paid the balance before the iMac was delivered (Mac mini was delivered two weeks before)! Was yours tracked from China or did it originate from PA ?
Yes, this is true - looks like Apple changed it's packaging for the first time since iMacs came in lightweight styrofoam inserts for many years. The entire package is 27 pounds, the iMac itself around 7 or 8. So yes, the packaging on its own weights more than double the computer.

This iMac changed to a more eco friendly, compostable cardboard materials, hence the the heavier weight...
So, I think mine was in a 'batch' delivery from Thailand ... because it said Thailand on both the inner and outer boxes ... maybe some pieces are made in Thailand ... but most manufacturing is done in China and those items are shipped to Thailand for the boxing? Then from Thailand to Carlisle??Was yours tracked from China or did it originate from PA ?
FANTASTIC! So happy for you! Finally new date still 'Walking in Me'
