give the little price difference when u compare ipad air 64gb with ipad pro 128gb, it is totally insane for not going for ipad pro 128gb for the "extras" u can get.

not to mention the much much powerful m1 chip will certainly last u longer for not upgrading for the next 5 to 6 years of your ipad and still run very smooth.

RAM is most definitely a big deal. I find it lacking in my 2018 pro @ 4GB. Same for iPhone 11P. The 12P is way better with ram. Same for iPads with 6,8,&16gb. Huge change. 4GB is *******.
the 8 gb of RAM and the M1 is huge.... the 2021 iPad pro is first iPad that Ive noticed performance increase over the latest iPhone. My iPad pro seems much faster/responsive than my iPhone 12.

for 200 or less difference, you get double the RAM and double the storage, along with the rest of the pro features minus the mini led

certainly, it is a no brainer choice. the existence of ipad Air is at a totally awkard stage.

well maybe some can't afford the 200 difference I don't know.... for a device that will last many years though, putting the extra investment in the pro makes more sense.

single core geek higher on air...thinking I may pull the trigger on the air as it appears to be the best bang for the buck currently
the single core, multi core and metal scores are considerably faster on the M1. the article you linked is crap and not correct.

When I got the Air 4 last year, the gap between it and the Pro was smaller for sure. I’m now six months into owning the Air, and it looks ancient spec-wise compared to the new Pro.

Definitely feeling like I should’ve waited, but it’s okay. It’s just device envy. There’s literally nothing about the Pro that would improve my usage in any way at all. It’s just fancy and cool.

My wife has the new Pro. She waited, finally upgrading her 9.7 Pro. That Center Stage feature is awesome. It’s like having a little camera person inside your iPad. lol. But I need to learn from her and only upgrade every few years.

Think of what we’ll be excited about on the 2023 iPad Pro!

For me, I got the Air 4 because it has TouchID and face masks make using FaceID a pain right now. 😷

Besides, I know I won't just stop at 256GB ($1099 cell) on the Pro 11. I'll go all the way up to 1TB ($1699 cell) and at that point, I'm spending double what a maxed out Air 4 would cost. 😅

So true. I maxed out the Air, buying the cellular 256GB in Sky Blue. Love the Touch ID. My wife was kinda bummed that the Pro only has Face ID and no Touch ID like mine.

So weird that the Pros only come in two colors, but I guess they just want you to focus on the hardware itself. Still, I mean, the iMac comes in several colors too. Is the iMac the Air of the computers? Apple is confusing.

I’m really just joking when I say the Air looks ancient spec-wise now. The A14 is still great and still the latest mobile chip. Runs smooth and I’m sure it’ll be relevant for years.

The Air 4 is certainly looking dated compared to the new Pro. The ram and storage upgrade alone is worth it but then you get like 10 other benefits. Maybe you don't care, but I think you'll appreciate the differences over time and it will last longer.

My only problem with going all in on the 11" right now is worrying it will get the XDR update next year and I'll feel like I should've waited. Truth be told the Air does everything I need and it's objectively cheaper but the 11" is undeniably the better value. The processor/ram/storage upgrades I'd likely grow into over time but the pro-motion and speakers are two benefits I do appreciate immediately.

It's also tough to pony up $800 for the 11" too though...I paid $400 for my 10.5" Pro early 2018 (Staples price matched Microcenter). For some reason Microcenter just doesn't have great deals like that anymore...maybe it's the climate we're in. But regardless the 11" model went up $150 for god knows what reason in 2018 when the upgrade wasn't that significant...

And while I think the Air 4 is a great device for what it is, I'd actually be taking a step backwards in terms of speakers and screen compared to the 10.5". And it's more expensive...no longer have the 10.5" anymore though so I have to make a decision.

The Air is a good iPad and some people don’t want to spend £200 more on top of what is already a hefty sum of money for the Air. It’s not all about specs. If you are using it for productivity I can see why some would opt for a Pro but for domestic use I can’t see much point at all. I haven’t found anything the Air can’t handle with ease yet.

It is way lesser than the amount if compare apple to apple. 128Gb storage vs 64Gb. Consider the difference in storage size. The extra spent is way lesser.

Not exactly way lesser. The upgrade cost for 64GB to 128GB in the US is just $50 (see iPhones).

Tell me about it...I use my iPad 99% landscape or more and Face ID worked horrible the time I tried one back when the first iPad Pro 11 came out and sent it back...the iPad Pro that I bought after that went back to home button which is by far the easiest way to use landscape....how does the air Touch ID work and where is the button to use in landscape

It is integrated into the power/sleep-wake button on Air 4 and works very well in any orientation in my experience. When you set it up, Apple also encourage you to register different fingers for landscape/portrait. So I have two index fingers registered on mine.

Check this out:

True, but when they upgrade a 11” pro to mini-LED and Air to OLED, you might want to upgrade again anyway.

For me neither the current iPad Pro 11”, nor Air 4 should be considered as something to “invest into” and keep for a long time. As soon as the next year, Pro 11” might get a mini-LED and Air - an OLED. This alone will make me want to upgrade again.

If the iPad is a WiFi model like many are and the person has iCloud storage, it doesn’t make much difference how much storage is on the device.

There’s no right or wrong answer to this mate as everybody has different needs out of a device. Price and specs are subjective depending on the needs required.

Personally, neither Mini-LED nor OLED are particular draws for me. PWM flicker on OLED actually has me avoiding it.

What will tempt me is if Apple releases an iPad with dual TouchID and FaceID authentication.

Well the ipad air 4 sells considerably more units than the ipad pro 11, so it is not really in an awkward position is it. £200 is still a considerable amount of money to many people, especially when the Air 4 looks identical to the Pro 11, and has the same core functionality. What do you think the majority of people will go for, especially the average Apple customer? I mean look at all the colour options available on the Air 4?The M1 Pro 11 is a great device, but its obvious that it is in the lineup to upsell people to the 12.9 mini led model and one would also seriously consider to pay ‘only’ £200 more to get the M1 macbook air which has Mac OS to take full advantage of the M1 chips power.

couldn't pay me to use the crap screen on the Air. Side by side in the store 60hz make it look like a stuttering POS. 120hz is worth the money plus the extras
