I’d forgotten the sprint races existed. They are so pants and can’t believe they’ve been kept.

I didn't know too it was quali today, may catch it later but it's moot that Max is on pole, for tomorrows sprint to decide who's where on Sunday. It's stupid as Lando is third! He could have started the GP from the second line. Bet we see some crashes tomorrow too.

Hate these sprint races.

Can't stand them thought I had you on ignore...

You keep saying that... you just like my humorous posts ?

I don't know why but I find myself keep on rooting for Magussen lol. And Alonso too.

What annoys me is that Horner said they wouldn't go out in the rain in Q3 I think? The one before the last session, because of the price caps limiting spare parts it wasn't worth the risk. That makes sense, but then why the hell do they have a sprint race that risks crashes and damage and is still under the same price cap? Instead of 2 chances of crashing, unless you count practice, you now have 3.
Also it's 8 points down to 1 for 8th place for the sprint race now.

I have you on ignore but your posts keep showing up... lol. Oh well.

I'd like to see MAG win another title.

I'd love for LEC to win it all though...

Good outcome for Red Bull today although I don't think Leclerc made any effort to re-pass Max once he had taken 1st. It's 'only' a point difference for the outcome today, recognizing that could make a difference depending on how the season plays out. Not clear to me that Ferrari had a real advantage over Red Bull today, so the race tomorrow will probably be very competitive indeed, and if Max has a better start then he could win from pole, perhaps?

I won’t pretend I’ve seen a race this year yet and haven’t even seen the highlights of any race but at least read the articles. Hopefully the race brings more interesting news than the reality tv sprints that media companies are driving to create more interest in the sport. Sadly you only have to look at the calibre of fans talking across social media right now to realise that ‘more fans’ doesn’t necessarily mean they have a clue about the sport they are watching. Bring on the race and let’s have Lando up on the podium, retirements or not.

It's Leclerc's to lose so far, but it's great to see at least Max giving him a fight for it. Mercedes are no where although they are ahead of RB, purely down to DNF's. Weather they can come back who knows? May be too late by then.
But I am really finding the mid field exciting, Alonso, Mag, Lando, Tsunoda, being it on! And Sainz in the mix too as he keeps screwing up qualifying for some reason.

Mercedes need to forget about this season and focus on next. The performance difference due to them not understanding their aero is massive and the points difference is already too far gone IMO. They are lucky they have two extremely talented drivers flattering the car right now. I can’t cheer for Charles as he’s sat in a Ferrari so would probably rather Max win this year as he’s driving a British car. I just hope Lando gets his first win this year as he very much missed out last year after dominating his teammate who scraped a win somehow.

I don't think Charles had the tires to re-pass. Considering Sergio was 2 seconds a lap faster than Charles at the end, I believe the Red Bulls are easier on their tires so they last longer. If Max can hold first through the first corners tomorrow, he should cruise to victory (presuming it is a dry race). And I think Sergio will be able to take Charles by the first stop.

That being said, Ferrari looked good so a 3rd and 4th should be quite doable for them. Nice to see Daniel finally matching Lando and considering Mediums were not the tire to be on for the sprint, K-Mag did very well.

George and Lewis, on the other hand...

They have also benefited massively from the early unreliability DNFs of the Red Bulls.

Both AMGs looked nowhere today, but the Feature Race is a different beast than the Sprint so I expect the additional length will allow them to rise up the ranks across the race distance.

Beautiful move by Max but he was very lucky to get away with that start, LeClerc's tyres were wearing off, will be an interesting race seeing that. Lando did well, Sainz managed to rescue his drive too.

And they were interviewing the drivers before they'd even got the helmets off! Give them a minute or two....
Also it seems very odd to have a podium and medals for a sprint race, which is literally a glorified qualifying session?

Hmm looking at the ease Perez took Lando I wouldn't hold your hopes for him winning but it would be fantastic to see if he did. Still McLaren are showing the Mercedes package is still competitive, the Mercedes factory car seems to have some serious aerodynamic flaws at the moment.

I‘ll second the push for Lando. ?

Mercedes has one major flaw. The Team Principle has too large a share of ownership in the Team. It is beginning to diminish his focus and vision for direction.

Their overall achievements over the last decade or so at least are not an indication for that theory.

Congratulations to Lando Norris on his Podium. ???

Unfortunate events for Ferrari.

Wasn’t expecting such domination by Red Bull. Looks like Max’s reliability is back.
That “Red Bull ( cough, cough, Honda ) Racing Engines” power unit is making big power right now. ???

Commanding drive by Max. I expected him to cruise, but sheesh.

Fantastic defense by George against Valteri, especially since the team did not adjust his downforce to account for the switch from Inters to Slicks.

Aston Martin must be happy for a double points finish.

Sainz unlucky and LeClerc threw away a podium, but kudos to Lando for being in position to benefit.

Lewis had nothing for nobody today...

Some observations:

So DRS proved it's right to exist with an absolute snooze-fest train for two dozen laps until the Race Director finally enabled it.

The Ferrari and AMG both porpoise horribly, but for whatever reason the Ferrari can handle it whereas the AMG cannot.

I‘ll just sit back and enjoy it while it lasts. Hats off to George however. Certainly looking like their #1 Driver.

I don’t think they’d dare support one driver over the other lol. That would get messy. Lewis is one of the best at adapting to new cars though and I think we’ll see an improvement as the season goes on.

I hope you're correct. Lewis seems very removed right now. Having another car up front to challenge is always preferred. I just wonder about him. He really seems distant on the radio. I don't see how George can do a P5 in the same chassis with a slightly different setup , with Lewis being lapped. It just seems to me that he is different mentally right now. George is out driving Lewis by a mile currently in the same car.

In the pre race interview with George and Toto conducted by Martin Bumble there certainly seemed to me anyway an almost Father/Son bond building between Toto and George. I think that bothers George's Teammate more than we can see externally.
