Apple support is basically useless. After long hold during phone call reached support specialist(in Canada!)
She was unable to even pull up my order # or pull info from it.

This all reminds me of dealing with Dell or HP Customer Service. What has happened to Apple Support?
I posted this earlier but I know the thread moves fast. My chat agent confirmed that USPS is supposedly intentional...my previous post:
Two orders, 14P (256/Black/Vzn) for me and 14PM (256/Purple/Vzn) for my wife. Both said Sept 16 at checkout and both now have the dreaded Sept 23 "Postal Service." Postal Service is a disaster here (had a lost package last week) so I finally got through on chat. The agent first gave the "system is too busy to check" that others got but then I was surprised to see: "I understand your point of view here however the volume of pre-orders right now is really loading up the carriers that's why you suddenly have USPS right now." Surprised me to see this chat agent basically saying that it's possible it will ship USPS.
Nope, “we are not allowed to provide that information” …

Also, some people confirmed its UPS and some are saying USPS. It seems like Apple themselves doesn't even know.

My card was charged at 8:01a when I placed the order. Delivery 9/16. Order status is processing.
Remember the guy who didn't get his iPhone 4 confirmation email until two days after he received his iPhone. Just saying...

Yes but never to opening day. It was usually 2 to 4 weeks past right in October during my busy time for going to fossil and mineral shows with my business partner. One time my wife had to be here to receive phone while I was at show. It came on a Saturday so had to wait until Monday to set it up such first world problems LOL
A bunch of us who chose Standard Shipping (which in the past was always UPS/FedEx) have order confirmations which now say "Postal Service" and the date got pushed out a week.
