Mine were doing that too for about a year or so. Really bad on airplanes. I was holding out for AirPods Pro 2 so I ordered as fast as I could.

I’m in the same boat as you, my order went to September 28-October 3 immediately after I preordered when the store went back up.
My dates have since changed to September 27-30 when I changed the shipping address as it seems likely I will not be getting the phone on launch day and therefore won’t be out of town (I was having the phone shipped to where I was staying in Colorado).
I asked them to change it and it took my CSR bit of time to locate it on their end to change it. He initially couldn’t find how to change it but got there in the end. Not sure what it was like for him on his end though, he had to dig through several screens it sounded like.
LoL me too. It was actually a very short wait in line for me on release day at Cherry Hill Mall in NJ. Seemed like there was very little interest in that. Especially when compared to the insanely long line and overnight wait I experienced the following year when the iPhone 4 launched - to this day, that has been my favorite iPhone launch experience.
It means nothing. No one is getting their iPhone before Friday. With expedited they could move the package by few days or so.
How do you find your phone shipment if you do not have your tracking number? Right now I am not seeing the phone on my choice, but when I search with my phone number as a reference #, I can only see the last 4 digits of my tracking number.
My UPS tracking is only showing the last update on 9/11. But, above that, it was last updated on 9/12/2022 at 04:46 PM. This is interesting.
