Going to be 84*s here in TN
Weather here in boston has been so crazy. I think we had a single day in the 90s this summer, and that was in july. It had rained every week in August, many times two or three days in a row

Now I'm not complaining since I hate the heat at this point, but its crazy to be dealing with temps in the 50s and we had that.

I'll trade ya! Been a scorching hot summer in the Phoenix area... every day in July it was at least 110º F... no seasonal monsoon rain to speak of, and it's gonna be 110º F here again today... too hot to be outdoors, never mind playing football in full pads.

I visited Las Vegas back in the day, and I even have family in NM - there's no way I would voluntaryily live in a desert. I actually love the cooler temps, so while my daughter was pissing and moaning over the lack of hot beach days, I was loving it :)

Fall with the 50 degree weather, and snap in the air is my absolute favorite season

It makes more sense from a strength of competition standpoint for Stanford and Cal to join the ACC than staying in a Pac-12 with the AAC schools, or going to the Mountain West. Either way there would be less revenue and they'd have to dramatically cut back their athletic programs. They will still take a significant hit anyway, with the financial concessions they'd need to make to sway the schools in the ACC that oppose them joining.

Vegas is totally fine in the winter. You couldn't pay me enough to get me there in the middle of summer. We have family there, we rarely go down to the Strip.

Its not about competition, or the quality of the game, its about money. The PAC-12 does not have a TV contract and since the majority of schools have now left the conference its untenable to have a PAC-12 conference, never mind a new tv contract.

They could try to entice MW schools to leave that conference but from what I've read, there's some sort of poison pill written into the charter so if a school leaves, they have to pay something like 30 million. Those schools cannot afford that. Even if they could and did entice schools, the quality of the games would be far different then what was the PAC-12 and less likely to get a decent tv contract. Especially since many people in California don't care about college football. Its not something many Californians watch it seems.

In all honesty, I think the MW is a better fit from a location perspective, as its precludes the need to fly across the nation week in and week out. I really enjoy the MW games, and I'd hate to see that change, and so far things are working out such that they're emerging from this debacle unscathed.

Vegas - Yeah, July-August... 110+ degrees on average... or at least it feels that way. Hard pass for me. We have been a few times. So freaking hot, they closed the pool because folks were burning their feet and hands while getting in and out of the pools.

Winter can actually be very nice... not to cold and not to hot.

ACC adds Stanford, Cal, SMU as new members beginning 2024-25

And with today's vote the PAC-12 is now officially dead - Only Washington state and Oregon state are the remaining schools. While those schools have stated a desire to rebuild the conference that's simply not going to happen. I don't see any scenerio where PAC-12 conference would be able to entice any school to leave their existing conference. I don't even thing a merger makes sense.

Makes ZERO sense to have two west coast, Bay Area schools in the ATLANTIC Coast Conference. But very little in college athletics does these days.

RIP, PAC12

I agree completely and in all honesty I think the ACC had other options, while Cal, and Stanford have some following, they're not huge football schools. I don't see their additions making the AAC stronger. Factor in the cost in money, man hours, and kids away from their classes and borders on the absurd.

Have fun with that travel schedule and having to play North Carolina and Duke in Basketball every year. That's going to be weird and I don't know when it will not be weird.

Lots of college games today. I don't normally like to sit in front of the boob-tube all day (especially when its a gorgeous day) but I'm looking forward to getting fully enmeshed into college football. Besides, I have family visiting, and the odds are high that my wife will take my truck, and my daughters will take the car. So I'm more or less the odd man out anyways.

UT WINS!

Buffs pull off upset... I saw that coming though... anyone else?

I'm not a huge fan of Prime Time but he seems to have a little magic left ...

Colleges seem to schedule the first few games as cake walks and yesterday's results were inline with that philosophy. Colorado. TCU thought, playing against one win Colorado would result in a rout. Still I did enjoy seeing the games yesterday and there's some more college games scheduled today.

The Northwestern game will be interesting, given the drama that is swirling around the school, Oregon state can be fun to watch, and I think LSU should handle FSU fairly easily. I'm not sure why FSU is ranked so high, but we'll see if they're the real deal tongiht.

The Ducks BLEW Portland State away with an 81 to 7 win!! That wasn't even fun to watch! It's going to be interesting to see if they can keep treading water in their new conference. Does that begin this year or next? I've heard both stories, but have not been able to confirm it either way.
