Max and Sergio top P3. Think it is going to be another Red Bull Weekend. Stroll was 3rd and Sainz 4th, so looks like Aston and Ferrari will be the only competition to them. Norris has looked strong, as well, so maybe some nice points for McLaren are in order.

Do not think Mercedes will be much of a presence this weekend. George still cannot break the Top 10 and Lewis binned it to end the session with about 10 minutes to go. Definitely will need a new front left suspension, but the impact was low enough I doubt it did damage to anything else.

Perez hard into the wall to bring out the first Red Flag with 11 minutes to go in Q1. Right left corner destroyed and I am sure the gearbox and diff are done, as well.

And everyone now has a beautiful look at the RB's floor and whatever magic Adrian Newey has wrought thanks to the cranes. :p:eek:

Watching now. Im surprised F1 TV didn’t broadcast what I’m sure was choice language. I’m guessing very painful for the RBR wallet as well.

Track evolution has been amazing. Sainz and Hamilton were 17th and 18th as they started their final lap with seconds to go and finished 4th and 7th. Wolff and Vasseur both exhaled so loudly it rustled the sails of the yachts in the harbor. :p

Russel has either been sandbagging or has found religion as he was strong all session, finishing 6th. And Tsunoda and Albon 2nd and 3rd!

Sainz in 20th - if his existing gearbox is salvageable, I wonder if RBR will risk a fresh one? IMO, it might be better to just "pull a Ferrari" and send him out on his existing one because even if it packs up, he will not be finishing in the points, anyway.

Hamilton again starts his final lap with no time left in the Relegation Zone and again pulls it out to finish 5th, behind George. Max again on top, with LeClerc and Alonso very close behind.

Norris clipped the barrier and then the wall, breaking multiple suspension parts so he is out in Q2, but he got it into the pits without hampering anyone else. :(

UPDATE: He did finish in the Top 10 so McLaren are desperately trying to replace the broken parts to get him out in Q3. Fingers crossed!

Stroll did not get out of Q2 and will likely be hit with a grid spot penalty for not stopping at the weigh bridge. To be honest, he had almost no time to react so if they do penalize him, kind of a BS call.

Max with an insane Sector 3 on his final lap for pole. That was a Senna-level sector.

Thought Alonso had it, but not to be. LeClerc third so could be an interesting race.

So if Red Bull cannot utilize it's straight line speed, Aston Martin and Ferrari are right up there.

Is good news for Aston Martin when they get the Honda engine of Red Bull in 2026.

It's quite sad for Alonso. If he was driving that Red Bull, he would have had pole position super easy.

Maybe he gets an other chance at tracks like Hungary where straight line speed is also less relevant.

LeClerc was handed a three-place grid penalty for impeding Lando Norris, so he will now start 6th and Sainz, Ocon and Hamilton move up to 3rd, 4th and 5th, respectively. So now it's all on Alonso to prevent Max from walking away with the win.

If only it had been the other RBR that binned it in Q1.
Max will drive off with Alonso unable to keep up or overtake is my guess.
A SC with Max having pitted the lap before is probably the best hope for someone else to win it.

Electric Q3. Fred was amazing. Regardless of opinions you really can't take it away from Max. He just seemingly can find those tenths anytime he needs to....... It's more than just the RB19.

It is the Red Bull.

Max had a really poor lap and still got on pole position. He even crashed into the wall and very slow in Sector 2.

Alonso did a much cleaner lap without mistakes. But the difference is that he is driving an Aston Martin.

So you’re saying Red Bull gave him wings?

That Red Bull gave Max a huge advantage over Alonso, as Max did a poor lap and still beat Alonso.

If Max was driving that Aston Martin or a Ferrari, his lap wouldn’t have been pole position as he made mistakes and even crashed into the wall.

Max admitted he touched barriers in the last section to make up the two tenths. So, if you’re praising the ruggedness and structural superiority of the RB19, then ok, I’ll play.

I‘m simply of the opinion he was able to do that without bending anything, and he can do it at will. Doesn’t mean I enjoy RBR walking away from everyone every race.

Max was able to recover 0.2 seconds because he drives a Red Bull.

If Max was driving an Aston Martin, he wouldn’t have been able to do this and Alonso would be on pole position.

The car was the determining factor here, as the guy with a bad lap took pole position.

I am inclined to disagree. Max's first sector was Yellow, meaning he was slower than his best time. He clawed a bit back by the end of the second sector, but he was still almost three-tenths down on Alonso then and clawed it all back in that final sector to pip Alonso by only eight hundredths of a second.

That Red Bull has been dominating Aston Martin in Sector 3 all weekend. It wasn’t just that final qualifying lap.

Besides, Alonso did one his best sector 3 times so it wasn’t due to driving errors why Alonso lost so much time in Sector 3.

It is simply the Aston Martin why Alonso lost so much time there. There was not much Alonso could have done against it besides driving a Red Bull himself.
