According to UPS MyChoice, my stuff got to Louisville this morning, but Apple’s site still says “preparing to ship”. I’m thinking by tomorrow it will go to shipped.

Yes, once the pallets are broken down into individual boxes, your tracking will show up as en-route in the UPS system.

Then the real fun begins - tracking your aircraft to your city, semi truck transport, and local van from hub transport....

I'm just imagining that my little package is resting on the storeroom shelf in Apple Aventura in Miami. Just waiting for my arrival :)

Yeah, I
I don’t typically purchase AppleCare+ for my products, but watching Brian Tong’s AVP unboxing video is making me nervous. Feels like dropping the AVP and it falling and smashing the glass front on a hard surface would be incredibly easy, especially when family and friends are trying it on and they’re fiddling with the head bands. I will be retroactively purchasing the two-year $499 AppleCare+ coverage once the serial number is associated with my Apple ID.
Note that, for the first time you break the front glass, the cost of (2-year) Applecare+ and the deductible is roughly the same (~$800) as if you did not have Applecare+. It's only if break the glass again or break something else that you come ahead with Applecare+ (but you still have to pay the $300 deductible each time).

Note that the AVP seems to come with a decent glass cover (see the various unboxing videos).

So if you break it once, break it multiple times. Check.

There’s going to be people who absolutely have bad luck and do this. Not the same… but I randomly dropped a small glass spice bottle on top of my glass cooktop and it cracked the entire thing resulting in a full stove replacement (was more to replace the top than what it was worth). I’m not a clumsy person but stuff happens. So AppleCare for me lol.

It’s honestly amazing when you realize how many flights for shipping there are, the distance traveled and the amount of cargo they hold.
Amazing right ?

The cargo size of a 4 engine 747 freighter is just a wonder of what humankind can do...

Even though they don't carry passengers, their flights have got to be dangerous since lithium ion batteries are so common and our Apple devices all have combustible / explosive batteries....

My 2/6 shipping order has shown up at UPS My Choice as being in Shanghai.

I've love for it to somehow get to me early (Friday release day). The next 24 hours should show if that is possible.

As usual from Apple, I can't request to hold the package at UPS Store. Unfortunately.

I keep flip flopping between 512GB and 1TB. On one hand, if I want to have all my photos stored locally (like my other devices) I have a lot more wiggle room with 1TB, but if I ”optimize photos“ I could get away with 512GB. I have an order in for the 512GB for delivery on 2/2 and an in-store pickup for the 1TB on 2/3. Help!! 😂
I went back and forth and since it was only $200 more than the 512 it made sense to me to go for the space and got the 1TB

I think I'm going to keep this first-generation (2024) Apple Vision Pro forever as a memento—not planning on selling, trading or giving away—the $3,499 (+tax+accessories+AppleCare) is a permanent expense I will never get back. I gave away my first-generation (2007) iPhone as a hand-me-down and regret doing that. (I did subsequently purchase this framed first-generation iPhone though.)

So my thought process is the $499 AppleCare+ for two years makes sense and assuming Apple launches the second-generation AVP in 2026 (Apple skips a year?), I'll upgrade to that and just keep this first-generation AVP in a safe place and won't require AppleCare+ beyond the first two years.

For that reason + I already subscribe to "Apple One Premier with 2TB of iCloud+ storage" is how I'm justifying going with the 256GB version—because my stuff is in the cloud anyway + I'll be streaming majority (all?) of my content.

If Apple handles the AVP like most other big products, they will give you a chance to subscribe to the monthly AppleCare+ after the 2-year-one expires.
