Guess saving them for the race?
I mean they were less than a tenth out of tenth place (as was Logan Sargeant, who looked really good).
This season is really getting interesting. Looked like it was going to be turgid domination again, I have no issue if Max wins again in a season like this. I don’t doubt he’s the best driver but it’s nice to see him have to work for it.

So when they have a tie on lap time in qualifying the driver who set it first gets to be pole position/in front of the other driver... correct?
aka first come, first serve...
I remember when it happened in'97 but I couldn't recall the protocol ... lol.Yes it’s the fairest way to do it. Typically tracks speed up the longer qualifying goes on so a fast lap first is typically a bigger achievement.
Fantastic team play at Red Bull to win this one. Great effort by Lando, always love his interaction with Max.
Mercedes look strong when their cars are light.
Perez, well. I guess he has got his contract so we’ve seen his best now
A really good drive by Lewis too, he’s getting a lot of praise but was pretty downbeat due to his request for soft tyres being ignored. Toto came on the radio saying something like ‘the positive is the car has performance’, but I think Mercedes are now doing what you’d expect, protecting their future interest. I can’t blame them for that but it’s more difficult when you haven’t got a Perez in the other car. Hopefully we are seeing a season with some competition finally, Max is having to work for this one
I can’t wait to see what happens when max is wheel to wheel competition again.
Had George made it to challenge today it would have been fascinating to see if he would have the foresight to potentially settle for 2nd place and the points in the championship over the potential for zero points.

Stayed up late to catch the highlights. They didn’t start until 12:30am.
Enjoyed the race. It’s a shame that Max still picked up the win. Mercedes or McLaren could have done had the pit stops gone another way or hadn’t been fighting with each other.
So question. If Mercedes end up being the best car by the dnd of the season, how will Lewis feel about his switch? Especially after another catastrophic result for Ferrari.
I was wondering why nobody went to Soft tires, but my guess is since the compound is the softest in the range and Montreal can be very tough on tires so perhaps they just would not last 20 laps even on low fuel loads.
