The car is being used in races. The F1 Classics is a great series to go and watch. Always love seeing the JPS.

So PlanetF1 is claiming Perez will announce at the Mexican Grand Prix that he will retire at the end of this season.
Oh dear, not good for the team because I believe he brings a huge amount of money to the team via endorsements, sponsorships and other things.

A bit surprising given that he signed a two year extension to his contract just a few races ago. If the rumor is true then he’s surely being pressured into bowing out. Red Bull are really in a difficult place with their drivers roster at the moment.

You must be late to watching F1 then. I recall watching as a child. Always enjoyed the sport.

I grew up in Banbury in Oxfordshire so F1 was a largely followed sport in this part of the country and several teams were employers here. I remember having a Simtek F1 T-shirt when I was a kid as the team was in our town and also Tyrell was just up the road where Mercedes is now. Benetton were in Chipping Norton, now Alpine too and Silverstone had Jordan so we had a lot of people following it here. The first proper season I got the bug from was ‘88. My dad took me to my first Grand Prix in 1993.

Maybe there is some truth to the employee's claim over Horner and him being found innocent of all claims made against him has got other employee's in the team angry. Newey leaving, Max not happy at how he is being treated by F1, RB going public with how under performing the rest of their drivers are with result of getting rid of Daniel, now Perez thinking of retiring. Something has gone wrong at RB and it is not just the cars.

The Adirondacks.
So PlanetF1 is claiming Perez will announce at the Mexican Grand Prix that he will retire at the end of this season.

That would line up with the stories earlier that F1 and Carlos Slim were very concerned about RB letting him go before Mexico, and the lost attendance revenue that would follow.

I’m a little cautious of PlanetF1 these days. After the way RB handled Daniel’s exit I’d imagine anything is possible.

Maybe he will show up at Haas in 2026 with his sponsorship monies?

Reports say that that contract has performance clauses that if he fails to reach would allow Red Bull to terminate his employment and I believe he has currently triggered at least one. So I wonder if Sergio just sees the writing on the wall, especially after what has happened to Daniel, and wants to go out "on his own terms" if he feels he likely will not be in the car next year or could be dropped at any point during that season for Liam or someone else.

Or perhaps RBR just isn’t a nice place to be right now. Lots of people seem to have left in the last 12 months. When it’s the best car on the grid, you might put up with a toxic environment. When it’s not you might consider your options.

I don’t think Perez should stay. Get some young hot shot in there who can push Max (if allowed).

I don't get it, I just don't, F1 is a joke, a stupid made up fake system that is basically a 3 day long advert, the way the broadcasters treat the drivers, or rather the way the FIA force the drivers to perform, it makes F1 more of a circus than a professional race formula.. We mock the teams when they goof, but clowns are paid to goof.. Liberty/F1 pay the teams, so what we don't know, will never know, is just who is paid to goof this week? Is F1 all fair and aboveboard? It is entertainment and taxed as such, so the drivers, are they actors? Sky treat them like trained parrots, do this for this treat.. Honestly it is so embarrassing watching the build up, and the way the drivers have to behave on command.. Like dogs and the click, really Pavlov's pets drivers are now.. No way Hunt, Senna, would have put up with this crap.. It is stupid and juvenile..

I didn't really get into F1 until my first job which was in an electronic device manufacturer. I always kept myself to myself at work but I kept hearing some people in the company canteen talking about F1, the drivers and the cars. The car's had always interested me from a young age. The Lotus Player One special was the car that got me watching the sport. I remember seeing it on Saturday morning BBC1 Grandstand which was a sports program that would show a range of sports. From then on F1 cars always caught my imagination but never the sport as a whole until the days in the company canteen. A couple of chats over the weeks led to a group of us having a tiny wager as to who would win the title. I liked the look of the Williams car so went with Nigel Mansell :). I followed the sport quite vigorously until the domination of Michael Schumacher. I got bored of the sport then and now whilst I still occasionally follow what's going on, I no longer have the passion for the sport that I once had.

This is what started off my enjoyment of F1. John Player Specials that my parents bought me as Christmas presents when as a child in the 70's. Amazing that I have them and in the very good condition that they are :)

They look the same size in the pics but they are not. The first pic is of a small JP Special. It is a 1969 Corgi Whizzwheel. The second one is much larger, almost 1:18 scale but not quite. Again it's Corgi and made in the early to mid 70's. I found them whilst going through some storage boxes.

The annoying thing is that back in the mid to late 2000's I visited the Brooklands museum and in one of the buildings was an original JP Special. I wanted to take a picture of it but no camera's, mobile phones or video recording equipment was allowed. Not sure if the car is still there now.

Are they 1/43 scale?

Hence why many of us inside and outside of F1 refer to it as "The Circus". :p

You know you've got it bad when your in the park watching children riding around on their bicycles and you start to given them names of F1 drivers and have a pretend F1 race going on in your head and then as one of the children get's to the front you jump up and shout 'and Norris wins again !!!

Not that I've done it but I can imagine a die hard F1 fan doing it during this quiet period lol

I may have been guilty of that on the motorway. My wife and I were playing that game Tuesday a week ago when driving from the UK to the Netherlands. My car was on automatic cruise control and lane assist, listening to Sefa's new album, and relating moves by other drivers on the motorways to F1 drivers. 🤣

And of course you let the wife win because otherwise it's sleeping on the sofa/couch for you 🤣🤣

Well, she is undecided, likes Max a lot but can't stand Red Bull Racing in MK, got an Aston Martin green car, wears Ferrari merch when watching a race, but seems to support McLaren and Lando. So, I don't stand a chance. But hey she is longer with me than people serve time for life in prison as she keeps reminding me, so I'm doing something right. 🤣

Your wife sounds like a complicated person lol. Tell her she needs to pick one driver and that's it lol

Maybe we should all aim for that state of mind. There's enough tribalism in society, so we should be happy for whoever wins.
