I notice that all mentioned best features are only hardware related ones. This shows the lack of software developement side. The upcoming WWDC can be crucial in revising iPad software parts. Hopefully, it won’t be a disappointing event in that regard.

In the Pro line, ditching the 11" and go 12" 14" would make the most for demanding productivity. That could actually be disruptive usability in such context. As it is, usability did not evolve much from 2019.
Yep I agree I think 12 inch would be a good sweet spot .iPad Airs 11 & 13 pros 12 & 14 inches would make a neat set of options

what happened to all the rumors of a glass back and magsafe charging?

I bought an M2 just over 2 weeks ago, and have arranged a return/exchange with Apple for the M4. Had I bought it six months ago I wouldn't be too upset about not upgrading, but the M4 offers more future-proofing, the landscape camera is better, and the screen is obviously much better.

I'm not sure I understand the complaints about price increases. I bought the base version M2 and the base version M4 is £100 more expensive. It's got double the storage and the tandem OLED screen, it doesn't sound like an outrageous difference.

The eSIM issue has killed any enthusiasm. Currently have an iPad Pro with an extremely cheap, very long period SIM. Primarily to allow emergency use (my definition!). My iPad uses a different network to my phone. If I need to use more, I'll deal with it but I can at least use it a little.

The UK companies who offer eSIM don't do this type of cheap, long period option.

When everyone offers eSIM, that will be OK. But not yet.

It's definitely worth an upgrade from my M2, because it's brighter and it has the antiglare screen, which has always bothered me. I use mine outside a lot.
I’d be interested in real world reviews of the nano glass for this purpose. I was unsure about this so I elected to go with the original screen glass. But perhaps I can trade in and get the nano if it works as advertises.

Sorta surprised you can't shoot spatial photos and video for the Vision Pro with it, unless I'm wrong about that...
Unless you want to look like an idiot, you shouldn’t shoot photos at all on an iPad (potentially excluding the mini)

Same with me - for the Pro Display XDR I checked both options and the nano glass was a little bit out of focus/blurred.

On the camera bump... What is the black spot/hole above the flash?
That is the LIDAR emitter.

FaceTime is just one app I use the camera for. Teams and Zoom are the others. The camera on the wrong edge causes too many issues with alignment when you’re trying to be professional. Better until now to use a laptop or other device. Webcam, if it were updated to work with Teams, would have been fine with me. You can use a USB C webcam with FaceTime but again, businesses dont normally use it in place of other options since most are not buying Apple devices.
For me, moving the camera to the landscape side will all but remove all of the false Face-ID attempts. I always have my iPad in landscape and hold onto the shorter sides. When something requires Face-ID my hand is usually blocking the camera.

Considering that no one has used them yet, and it looks to me to have some major design changes along with the major accessories, this seems a little surprising. Then again, I get that the M2 is good enough.
Its always funny to me how people say a new processor, without any testing, is way better...because. I'm sure there are reasons for it being better, but does it really affect usage? I don't care if a benchmark shows its faster if my preferred web browser still takes the same amount of time to load.

I can guarantee it will be better in all aspects to my iPad 5. Can't wait to pick it up next Wednesday

You’re all here talking about how great and thin the 13-inch iPad is, while I’m sitting here wondering how anyone could possibly need a giant 13-inch iPad.
I’ve been a daily 12.9 iPad user since they launched in 2015. For me, it’s great. Large screen like a laptop while being easier to carry. Took me about a week to adjust to the size. After that, It’s not been an issue for me. I’m typing this reply on a 12.9 while laying in bed. No problem.

Funny, that was my immediate reaction too. So much for the whole, ‘Apple camera ecosystem all feeding content into AVP’ thing. Pretty shocking tbh. I would have thought the iPad Pro creative business crowd would also be the AVP crowd.

I wish there was a removable anti-glare screen built into a removable frame.
There are 3rd party options for that though right? Sure not as good as an Apple solution but it's still two options you can swap between.

If you use FaceTime a lot yeah….but honestly like everything Apple does it takes them many many years and by that time everyone is used to the old way. iPad cameras have been in the same spot for 13 years. It’s like them adding the calculator app this year after 14 years of not having one. It really doesn’t matter anymore. If you wanted a calculator on iPad you have one downloaded already. They just seem to be giving in more and more to whatever ”tech YouTube” complains about. Hell the entire design team has now officially turned over. It’s a new Apple that’s just thrown a lot of stuff at the wall to see what sticks To make money. And hats off to them. It’s working. But having 4 pencils, 3 keyboards and an iPad “Air” that’s heavier than the iPad Pro is laughable. I feel sorry for the store employees who have to explain this mess and pretend that it all makes sense to the average consumer
Zoom meetings, FaceTime and teaching online. Even teleprompter apps will be easier to read. I’m looking forward to being able to look directly at the screen instead of presenting while standing just off to the side of my iPad. The camera location alone has me replacing all our staff iPads.

I'm surprised that Apple is restricting the 256 GB and 512 GB models to 8 GB of RAM. The 1 and 2 TB models get 16 GB. That's not very "pro" of them. Memory shouldn't be hamstrung to storage, since they already jacked up the price by $200 on the base model. I'm sure the OLED screens are more expensive to produce, but even so it's a bit of sticker shock. I guess they figure if people are willing to spend that much on iPhones, they'll be fine spending it on iPads.
This is where— if I were upgrading— I’d go into an Apple Store and try out the 8GB & 16GB machines once released to see if there’s an appreciable difference in speed.

I have an 11” M2 Pro 1TB. I’m really tempted to upgrade only because of the screen. I previously had a M1 12.9” I gifted my wife because I wanted the smaller iPad for flying. I didn’t do my research how I normally do it and discovered almost immediately the quality of the screen was not the same as the 12.9”. You might think I’m crazy, but I’ll jump on my MacBook Pro more now because the screen is brighter and fuller color wise than my iPad. I would say I use my iPad less now than ever because the colors are just drowned out and the brightness is not the same as the 12.9”. So yeah, I’m tempted to pull the trigger on a new one knowing mine works perfectly well, but the only reason being is the much improved screen quality.

You're not going to notice it in an Apple Store though. It's a difference you'd notice once there are enough resources on the RAM

I haven't had a problem with my 11" but I was disappointed to discover that it's not the same as the 12.9". Parity between them on the M4 versions did encourage me to upgrade.

I would buy if Apple had realeased an Apple Keboard folio for it. I love the keyboard folio on my M2 iPad Pro: useful, portable, thin and light and easy to transform from typing to touch screen vs the Magic Keyboard
