Beautiful: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Back...gly-beautiful-iPhone-7-in-Space-Black_id82783

If the iphone 7 black version looks anything like this, then that's going to be the color to get.

And one day, that finger print scanner will be under the glass just like how it kind of looks like in these renderings. Absolutely polished and beautiful.

Blending the antennae lines into the deep black color hides them well, and makes the framing-effect over the device feel more subtle.

Please, Apple.

That black looks gorgeous! I would love see phones with the FP scanner integrated onto the display. But...only if it doesn't come at the sacrifice of display size. So a 5.5 inch display becomes 5.1 to make up for the FP scanner on the display.

Shocked not more people responded to that iPhone 7 render. It's a thing of beauty.

Anyway, here's what the Nexus will likely look like:

nexus2cee_nexuswm_thumb-1.png

http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...us-phones-sailfish-and-marlin-will-look-like/

another Nexus device with compromises. So this is the HTC Nexus? If that is true what an epic fail in design.

Yeah, wtf is going on here? I didn't read the linked article in detail so someone let me know if I'm off base but I'm guessing the bulk of the frame is aluminum with the glass portion at the top to allow for wireless charging? (Better be because I can't think of another reason why you'd need it). And then if you have that big a portion of glass, why the antenna lines? I've already made my feelings known about rear placed fingerprint readers. The back seems to just be an utter design mishap.

I like an all glass front with dark black bezels but that render is envious of the iPhone's bezels. Why such a big chin if no front fingerprint reader, capacitive buttons or dual stereo speaker?

Well, if this is truly representative of the upcoming Nexus devices, thanks Google for taking away any potentional temptation. And you're doubly missing an opportunity as I have no plans to buy an iPhone this year...for the first time.

The leaked specs weren't that motivating either.

As I said in the Nexus N thread, my feelings for a Nexus device this year is becoming tepid. I had high hopes that Android N adopting TW's useful features and HTC's hardware prowess this year would amount to a hardware/software combo that's finally worth dropping Samsung for, but not if the rumors are shaping up to be true.

Disappointing iPhone 7 rumors; disappointing Nexus rumors. If all prove true, Samsung is ruling this year. I'll hang onto my JoD and S7E longer than I thought.

First...my comments aren't directed specifically at you but others' comments/expectations commonly found in Nexus threads.

We go through this exercise every year. Rumors of the upcoming Nexus start to surface, foillowed by the endless, 'if they just improve XYZ feature' or 'add ABC to the phone', it'll be the perfect Android phone. And every year, people express surprise or dismay at the capabilities, design, etc of the actual phone. This will be the 9th Nexus phone---why on Earth do people think Google is all of a sudden going to change their routine?

There have been hundreds of Android phones yet I've still yet to see the one phone that will seriously tempt me to jump ship full time to Android--top of the line, industry leading hardware that's unlocked/carrier free running stock Android with timely updates. If they could've waited until this generation of hardware to try the GPE experiment, I'd jump all over a Samsung S7 GPE.

I have faint hope that the rumored 'Google phone' will come to fruition and that they are positioning it as a flagship level device slotted above the Nexus phones and comes with comparative hardware. Not holding my breath though.

I hear ya, but it's also true to say each Nexus device has become better, more marketable, more accessible to mainstream, etc. than the last. No?

The Nexus 6P, I think, finally crossed that line into a seriously viable Android flagship candidate. Good price point, top-line specs for its time, finally a great camera, reliable fingerprint scanner, solid build, and a unique design (if a little polarizing). And the often praised clean Android experience and direct Google updates. Everything was at the very least 'good,' and there were no obvious nor major deal-breakers (maybe the size?). Can't say the same about the 5X unfortunately, but the 6P really did the job.

I don't think it's unreasonable to hope that Google will deliver another great Nexus option this year, too. Unfortunately, the leaked specs and designs so far seem rather uninspiring.

I think the process you describe applies to nearly every rumor of every future device. A mix bag of cautious optimism, complaining, wishful thinking, etc. Perhaps it happens more with Nexus devices because everyone sees the Nexus line as some saving grace in the Android space; the "one" so to speak that's supposed to bring balance to the Force -- er, I mean, to Android. So perhaps expectations are raised a little, too.

iPhone render looks great, so far black iPhone 5 has been the best looking iPhone IMO, until maybe this one.

Nexus doesn't look as good for sure, but I don't really buy for aesthetics. More concerned that the internals are high end, but like tbayrgs said.. I won't hold my breath!

Overly large bezels all around, why am I not surprised! I also think the iphone 7 render is incredible looking, until I turn on the screen and see...overly large bezels all around.
Couldn't agree more. I loved the Nexus 6 2014 because of its small bezels (especially on the bottom). Sadly, bezels are coming back since their near disappearance in 2014, and I can't figure out why

Bigger batteries, more components (fp scanner), thinner phones.

Nexus 6 battery/thickness : 3,220/10.1mm
Nexus 6p battery/thickness : 3,450/7.3mm

I don't expect the bezels to be as big as in the renders, but they won't be Samsung sized either. This is HTC and Google we are talking about

Not going to lie. Have to consider iPhone 7.

Note 7 doesn't seem very different and this might be the first time Galaxy S series (edge) beats the Note series. But a few things coming from Apple has got me intrigued.

Removing headphone jack - Doesn't bother me. I rarely use a headset anymore except for FM radio.

Removing the physical home button - I like it. Makes every iPhone that come before it feel archaic with that physical home that wears out over time. Hoping the removal of the physical home button lowers the bezel and dimensions a slight but that could still be a stretch.

Water-resistant and wireless charging - Both rumors too but I think the removal of the headphone jack might make the former true.

32 GB base model - Finally Apple decides to wake up since 16 is practically useless to most people.

Some people will wait out for the 10th anniversary next yewr for the bigger changes but I am not a fan of OLED because of burn-in and the technology doesn't last as long as LCD. Oversaturation too. OLED is no big deal to me. And also the all-glass exterior again. I think this year's iPhone is getting slept on before its release. Maligned when it could be underrated. We might end up without a metal back iPhone again until 2020 if the three-year design cycle is also true starting in 2017. That's getting a metal back WITH water-resist.

Either HTC or Apple for me. If neither wow, then get Samsung Galaxy S7 edge in silver as it could still be the best phone by the time the next iPhone and Nexus are announced even if it features the glass fingerprint magnet exterior.

Those renders of the iPhone 7 probably won't look like that. Only the antenna lines will change from cosmetic purposes.

This is the best looking smartphone of 2016 in my opinion.

I like that iPhone design above, and do think they need to get the black more black than Space Grey currently is.

I also think they need to get a copper back (not bloody pink!!) onto the black front and they can just take my money.

The problem I have with the iPhone over the last few years is the bezel around the screen. It's just too much, the screen on my sisters iPhone 6 looks tiny compared to my Priv, and I know the Priv is much larger anyway, but it just looks like all bezel.

If they did away with some of the bezel, and offered more black colour options then I'd seriously consider picking one up.

Yup, 5 million pre-orders already? This phone is pretty off the charts. All those specs for that price is pretty exciting.

I hope Apple has an ace up their sleeve like wireless Beats headphones. I stopped using headphones regularly since my gf used to take them all and only used it on occasion for FM radio for my other phones (4/5 have FM). Online radio apps are useless to me and kills data limits and battery life faster. Me using headphones was more common from 2005-2011 which started with the iPod video and ended with iPhone 4. So removing the headphone jack is no biggie.

What I do mostly is listen to my songs with the external speaker and hoping the stereo speaker for the rumored iPhone 7 is very much true. If it has no headphone jack but will go waterproof, then I hope the external speaker is LOUD unlike the S7 edge, Xperia Z2, and such. They had excuses because they were waterproof but had a headphone jack. Hoping iPhone 7 maintains its loudness and clarity. Beyond BoomSound. One of the disappointments with the tiny iPhone SE is how soft the speaker.

HTC Nexus vs Apple iPhone 7 right now. Learning toward the latter because it is closer to my ideal size with water-resistant while the Nexus probably isn't or has some splash resistance like the HTC 10 but not enough protection to submerge it under water very long. Plus, learning towards iPhone 7 that I can use until 2020 and not be stuck with all-glass/bezel-less design for the next three years (2017-2019 iPhones).

The iPhone 7 might be the only iPhone in this decade with waterproofing and a metal rear. And perhaps easier to fix than having an entire iPhone be made from one sheet of glass. No thanks, Jony Ive. Keep dreaming...

^ Never had to worry about slippery, shatter-prone glass rears. For 2016, I guess between Apple vs HTC for me.

iPhone 7 only.

That's my world and I like it.
I enjoy the outside revisions as much as the next, maybe a little less than some but as long as I can tell I have a speedier device with newer functionality that I use. I really don't mind the phone looking the same for 3 years.
Just give me something new every year.
