I have the fix for each and every one of these bugs. Follow step by step:

1) put iphone down

2) walk outside

3) Breathe in fresh air

4) find something worthwhile to worry about.

Mail flips out

So every time I try and check my mail after upgrading(?) to 3.0 the iphone flips back to the main screen. Sometimes it gives me a few seconds but when I try and check my other accounts, there it goes again. Anyone else?

Anyone else notice icons missing, such as free memory in this example?

Also anyone else notice improper icons being applied to applications?

I had this problem back in 3.0 beta 5. Every time I installed a new app the icon would appear for a different app. For a long time my Youtube app had my personal app's icon. The 3.0 GM seemed to fix this and I haven't had a problem with it since - weird it's still showing up.

Not to rag on you too hard, but the fact you would consider downgrading to 2.2.1 because of a few "visual bugs" shows that you are the Michael Bay of iPhone usage. Style over substance.

I completely agree with spaz here, can we start a petition somewhere for the 1px? I think this needs to be addressed and many others would agree.

Seriously... I'm a visual kind of guy. One of the biggest reasons I like Apple products is because they look a lot better than their competitors. I also love how Mac OS X looks. It just boggles my mind that Apple Software Engineers can't center some text within a text field. I mean, look at Safari's address field... the text doesn't look too high in that... what makes the Messages app different? I consider this a bug because it bugs me. It doesn't look right and it's probably my OCD that is causing me to behave this way. I just think 2.2.1 *looks* better. I may not switch back because I know I'd miss copy and paste and push and such, but jeeze... I just want the OS to *look* like it used to. Why they changed it... I have no idea.

Another thing I wanted to mention:

When you're opening Messages... watch the "new message" button glyph as it changes from being beveled to just being a plain white image.

I'm a pixel-perfectionist too. I shouldn't have opened this thread, now I'm noticing all this stuff! Sigh... please fix, Apple.

A pixel off is a pixel FAIL!

I'm not saying you're not justified in your gripes. I agree that it seems weird they would change small visual things like that between software versions, but to switch back and give up new functionality just because a few visual things bother you is silly.

Very nice post, it was thorough and your examples really helped to show exactly what the problems were. A+

in contacts, when you looking at someones listing...if they don't have any work or home address entered there's a glitch in the shading/formatting

The loading indicator at beside the edge, 3g, or wifi indicator does not rotate correctly at times. I actually think this only happens on wifi because it rotates faster. I can't really take a pic of it because it moves... This does not always happen. As of right now I cannot figure out when or why this happens.

I've seen this also. It appears to flicker and stutter at times. It just draws my eye to it. I've also noticed the lack of a "close" animation now and again. This used t happen once and awhile on 2.2.1 put now once it happens once its there until a reboot usually.

Another thing I've noticed when I connect the iPhone to my Griffen car adaptor and open the iPod app the volume slider is gone, which is correct since it shouldn't show when using line out. But after about 5 seconds it fades back and then the iPod controls and volume slider move up and down every few seconds. What it seems to be trying to do is hide the volume slider since it is now using line out but it can't make up its mind.

My app store has gone back to the 2.1 version (the more tab has vanished) it just shows the update tab instead. Has this happened to anyone else?!?

i had this too. i kept download "ice hockey" and the icon was of pacman! so i kept trying to delete and reinstall it even download it on my computer and sync it, but nothing. today i finally deleted it and then reinstalled the app and it worked. either way i did a clean restore and set it up as a new iphone so now its all good!

but yea i got that too. must be a glitch.

It must be nice to live a life where you biggest worries are a pixel shift on a cell phone

Report these to Apple - they'll probably fix them in the next update.

Okay, I'll play. + sign is not center in landscape Notes app. :D

Nice try, but due to the actual size of the button while it's in landscape, it's impossible to center the + sign. It's not the correct number of pixels, so you can't simply move it up 1 pixel because then it will be off center still. That is one we'll have to live with.

By the way, I didn't make this thread as a joke. I'm just showing how sloppy Apple is getting. They should hire the original iPhone design team back because even the new icons don't look like they belong on the home screen (especially voice notes). I used to think the UI was really great on the iPhone and now it seems like amatures are working on it. It's definitely not the quality and attention to detail that I am so used to and come to expect from Apple.

Just to further point out, some of these bugs bugged me since the first beta, but everyone was so quick to say "it's only a beta!!!" well, the real version is here and it's still unpolished.

I just hope we don't have to wait for OS 4.0 to see fixes for this stuff.
