I just patched my rMB running 10.11.5 and I'm up and running at a glorious 3440x1440 @ 60Hz on an LG 34UC98 connected through an Aukey USB-C hub with HDMI out.
May I know which Aukey USB-C hub you are using? I can only find one that support 3440x1440@30Hz

Regarding the clamshell mode, I'll be able to test it in the upcoming weeks since I'll receive the KADI Port (with 2 USB-C).

So I'll use one with the charger and the other one with the DisplayPort adapter I mentioned earlier.

I still don't know if I'll be able to use every scaled resolution just like an iMac or a MacBook Pro. If anyone can tell me which resolutions are available (as I said, for me it only works @1080p HiDPI @60Hz. Others are not available or @30Hz) it would be great!

Did that hub support charging the macbook and 4k@60hz video output at the same time?

Do you have kadi hub yet? It works fine? Thanks!

In case anyone else runs into this, to enable 60Hz after the application of the patch in clamshell mode, you option select the resolution options and you'll then have the ability to switch from 30Hz to 60Hz (previously mine was switching to 30hz if the lid was closed)..

Also, I haven't had to repeat these steps when reconnecting the display.

Is this hack working also in Sierra? Has anyone tried?

Yes. Nicely enough I didn't have to reapply it after installing the first or second beta.
[doublepost=1469043457][/doublepost]I think the only documented downside is that the bandwidth required for 60Hz drops the USB devices down to 2.0 speed.

Is it possible for 12" MB to drive 4k external display at 4k @ 60 hz resolution while charging with lid closed in clamshell mode?

Neither of the videos you showed mention clamshell mode.

Also, the video showing 4k@60hz output does not mention whether he still gets power.

So, I am aware clearly that 4k@60hz is possible. What I am not aware of, and and still not aware of after reviewing the videos and other posts in this thread, is whether you can do 4k@60hz while charging the Macbook with the Macbook lid closed and in clamshell mode.

yes it works while in clamshell mode @ 60hz and charging.

Why would you need the patch? rMB should have no problems running this out of the box at 3440x1440 @ 60Hz.

30 or 50 Hz are the only available choices

Currently running at 2560 x 1080 @ 60 Hz. Text is fuzzy. Better than the flicker. Oh man, that's awful.

That's odd cause others have reported no issues running these wide monitors at 3440x1440. Maybe you need an upgraded HDMI cable.

What sort of adaptor could provide charging and 4k@60hz output?. At home, I have a USB-c monitor but at work I connect to a 4k monitor with a USB-c splitter which gives me a regular USB and HDMI + charging.
I prefer 1080p hidpi at 60hz which I can´t from HDMI 2.0

This might be a stupid question, but can MacBook + LG 27UD88-W monitor do (in 60hz with patch) scaled resolution "looks like 2560+1440" as shown in the picture?

You can do it with Quickres but text looks fuzzy. I would only plan to run high DPI 1080P or true 4K on the LG monitor (I have the same one.) 4K obviously makes the text look tiny but 4K video looks amazing.

Thanks for the reply. It does work flawlessly through USB-C? Have you noticed any hiccups or anything with the UI, apps etc when using that setup? Could you confirm that it works lid closed and is charging all the time when USB-C is connected to monitor?

I am considering of bying that setup. Best of both worlds.

If you apply the patch to do 4k@60Hz the only hiccup I've had is that I have to reboot sometimes to get the 4K option if I disconnect the laptop from the monitor and reconnect. Yes, it is always charging if the monitor is powered on. I only had the monitor for a week before I left for vacation so I haven't tried it with the lid closed. I hear it works fine though. I think that's only an issue with Macbooks that run separate cables for power and display output.

Just got this setup myself. I would not say it works flawlessly, but it does a pretty good job. I did apply the patch myself and noticed that while at 1080p HiDPI that when I watch video it stutters a bit that is noticeable. When I switch it back to 30hz the stuttering is non-exinsistant.

My MacBook has also gotten pretty damn hot at around 36 degrees celsius while watching video websites like YouTube.

This is only from my own personal experience though.
