So, after the update, how do you get Handoff to work? I've got Wi-fi and Bluetooth activated on both devices, Handoff enabled in system preferences and they're both connected to the same iCloud account...

Well I'm baffled... installed the card for my MP5,1 from MVC and... only BT works. I've tried the swap old card and the old card works, but the new one don't. I've tried kext repair, disk permission repair, everything I can think off but it still shows as "Wi-fi: No hardware installed".

I'm on the 10.10.3 "SP1".

PS Under the Boot Camp the BT is recognized as an USB BT adapter, but the other one shows up as "Base System Device".

Any insights?

Hey Steve

Sorry you are having trouble, but I definitely had that card running right before you came by.

The usual problem is that the little black screw that holds the card int he adapter has allowed the card to twist a tiny bit.

So loosen the screw a touch and then try to twist the card a tiny bit so it is square in the adapter.

If you can't get it to work, let me know and I will make another one and you can switch out.

But the most common problem is that card moving in the adapter.

Let me give that a try! Thanks :)

And problem solved! Thanks again MVC! It was some fine tweaking but it worked :)

Yeah, each of the cards is tested twice now, first in a Mini that doesn't need the extra USB connection then in a 4,1 that does.

So I can be 99.9% certain they are good.

The card getting twisted in the adapter is number one cause of issues.

I think we will include a note on website, glad you got yours working.

I picked up the correct package of card and adaptor for my 4.1 from EBay installed with some fiddle with the antennas. Everything shows up fine in About Mac, but although BT is looking all correct, it can't find anything (no keyboard or trackpad) and nothing can see the 4.1 on BT. So I've obviously have a BT antenna issue. I did the external BT antenna mod sometime ago so perhaps the cable length now too long, I'll try tomorrow back on the original internal BT antenna.

I resolved the issue, it seems to have been antenna cable related.

I had added an external BT antenna, using a pigtail (U.FL to SMA) then an SMA antenna on a lead, by doing this BT/Airport mod I'd added more connections and things to go wrong.

I tried several times to just extend my existing extension, but no joy. I reverted back to original 4.1 BT antenna to get a weak, flaky signal, but at least it worked.

In the end I conceded to build a external BT antenna socket close to the new 802.11ac mini WLAN+Bluetooth 4.0 Wireless card, which does mean it is in the front of the case, but it works.

By the way I found working on the adapter and card install really fiddly in the space available, so eventual I took out the processor tray housing out as well as the processor tray, not too much harder and a lot more room. Doesn't take too long to do and gives a lot more space. I have a 4.1 tech guide for stripping down the processor tray housing, so you might need to think twice before doing that.

I am wondering if I can upgrade my Imac 2010 with the following WiFi/Bluetooth card? Thanks for any input.
NEW Apple Broadcom BCM94360CD 802.11ac mini PCI-E WiFi WLAN Bluetooth 4.0 Card

I had a heckuva time figuring out what type of cable I needed to extend the original bluetooth antenna cable of the Mac Pro. I finally figured out it is a "U.FL extension cable". I was able to find one on Ebay.

Connecting the existing antenna cable was a bit tricky because of how small it is but I eventually got it and it snapped together nicely. Connecting the other end to the wifi/bluetooth board was much easier (the same as attaching the wifi antennas).

If anyone knows the name of the type of connector used to connect the USB signals to the motherboard, I would truly appreciate it.

Thanks to all who has contributed to this thread.

I was experiencing extremely poor Bluetooth reception particularly with my Magic Mouse. I scoured the internet looking for possible solutions and came across a fix by OWC where they used a sheet of adhesive backed aluminum foil to shield the Bluetooth card in Mac Minis from interference from USB 3. So, I attempted this fix in my Mac Pro.

Since, in the Mac Pro, the Wifi/Bluetooth card has its components exposed, I put a layer ScotchBlue painter's tape to prevent any accidental shorting the aluminum tape may cause. Then on top of the ScotchBlue layer, I put a layer of Nashua multi-purpose HVAC aluminum foil tape that I picked up at Home Depot.

Prior to adding shielding, my Magic Mouse movement was extremely erratic and it was impossible to scroll smoothly. After applying the foil tape, the tracking and scrolling are smooth again. The signal is still far from strong but my Mac Pro is situated close enough that tracking and scrolling shouldn't be a problem and, now, they no longer are.

* Disclaimer: This solution worked for me and may not work for anyone else. If you attempt this, please be sure to insulate your Wifi/Bluetooth card because the foil tape will cause shorts if it is applied directly to the card without an insulation layer. I take no responsibility if you fry your Mac.

Hello.
I installed the BCM94360CD with an adapter card in the mPCI slot and connected the 4 antennas in my Mac Pro 1,1. The Mac Pro came up after the first boot, however there was an X through a greyed out wifi status indicator in the menu bar. Played with some network settings, nothing worked. Restarted machine with cmd-opt-PR, and it would not boot. Swapped video card GForce 8800 GT to stock NVidia card see boot screen. Boot hangs 1/2 way. Attempts to boot into safe mode or recovery mode fail at same place. Removed networking card. Boot hangs 1/2 way. Attempts to boot into safe mode or recovery mode fail at same place. Removed stock NVidia card and put back GForce 8800 GT. System does not boot.

Parts used:
Adapter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201204711247
PC Card: http://www.amazon.ca/Broadcom-BCM94360CD-BCM4360CD-802-11ac-Bluetooth/dp/B00L35XSMS
The PC Card mounts upside down compared to OSXWIFI's adapter

My system is a Mac Pro 1,1 running Yosemite. GForce 8800 GT is a PC card so it does not show screens during bootup. Haven't used this machine much because lack of network in its location.
Any suggestions? Thanks Robin

I ordered a pair of BT4/ac cards from MVC and installed them into a Mac Pro 5,1 and a Mac Pro 4,1. The Mac Pro 5,1 worked without a problem, but the 4,1 is acting up. The 4,1 is not recognizing the card as an Apple model the way the 5,1 is. It knows that it's a Broadcom card, and it can use the wifi and the bluetooth, but none of the advanced features are enabled. No low energy, and so no handoff etc. It's reporting as Chipset: Unknown. Any suggestions on how to sort this out?

There seems to be an issue on random systems with El Capitan - not just on Mac Pro but also MacBook Pro and others. System Report and General Control Panel show the capability, but AirDrop or Handoff or both do not work.
10.11.1 does not resolve the issue. The current beta 10.11.2 also does not.
Booting to 10.10 everything works fine.
There is a long thread on the Apple support forums.
I have a bug report filed.

Same here. Reports supported, but Handoff doesn't work at all. Also it's kind of pointless to make a feedback report to Apple if you have a cMP since it's not officially supported.

CORRECTION:

After turning Handoff OFF in my iPad Air 2, then turning it on again, I have Handoff working sort of.

I can double tap the home button and it will show me the open apps/documents from my cMP. However, on the cMP I cannot see the apps/documents that are open on the iPad. So it seems to be working in one direction only in El Capitan. On Yosemite, I used to get a small icon next to Safari or Mail on the OS X launchpad icon. Click that smaller icon would open whatever I was working on with the iPad. Perhaps I'm just doing something wrong.
