We have a kit with pre-wired plug and antenae extension.

All parts needed and easily installed or removed. No cutting or soldering needed.
I dont mean to sound rude at all so please don't take it that way but isn't your card the same design as two examples? To my understanding its just the 3,1 doesn't need the attached usb cord in order to function. If I am wrong please let me know.

I'm not sure what you are asking.

We have a 3,1 version with just card and adapter and a 4,1/5,1 version with pieces needed to avoid all the cutting and soldering and disassembly.

Includes lead with plug and antennae extension cable, as I mentioned.

hi guys. followed the instructions of the first post.
everything is working but i have a problem. i'm using a usb 3.0 card from inateck.
the issue is that when the usb3.0 is installed, the bluetooth doesn't work anymore cause to interference between bluetooth antenna and usb 3.0 card.
the issue is well known on internet.
i tried to move the antenna even outside the mac using a long wire, nothing to do.
the only solution for now is to use a long long wire and put the antenna near the monitor, so near to wireless keyboard and magic trackpad.
what can i do?

^^^^Yep, it drove me batty:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1733267/

Finally solved it by using Apple's IO Tools and mounting a BT dongle remotely. My dongle is not BT 4 however.

Lou

so, no other way?
the silly thing is that the same usb 3.0 pci card (inateck 7 port) + same wi-fi card + same antenna that i used in the mac pro, doesn't give me any problem on my hackintosh.
on hackintosh it's working perfect. does it depends on the fact that mac pro has a aluminum case?

what about trying to put this http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/DIYIMM12BTS/ both sides on the wi-fi ac card? someone in a thread suggests it and it works for him

Wow, great. Is it basically plug and play? Yank the old card out, plug your new card in, reattach the antennae an it will work without any kext updates? Well worth it if that's how it works. Thanks!

Yes, We are hand building the USB connection and include an antenna extender cable.

No cutting, sawing, glueing or soldering needed.

You have to run 10.8.4 or newer. And you need to get the Bootcamp drivers for Windows.

Yesterday I was able to use Handoff and Airdrop between MP 5,1 and iPhone 5S. (in Yose DP4 and iOS8 DP4)

No kext hacking or driver fiddling. Only way to beat Apple at their forced obsolescence game, use their own parts.

^^^^MVC's listing on eBay contains the following verbiage in answer to a question:

We will be listing the 4,1/5,1 version on Monday 21. Will include all parts and cables to install with NO SOLDERING or cutting of wires. Will be completely 100% reversible.

He's is a little late, but I'm sure it's coming.

My solution:

Image

I purchased the Broadcom BCM94360CD from Amazon and purchased an adapter from http://www.osxwifi.com, they don't have them on the main page, but you can get one for $44.99 + $5.99. No soldering required.

Currently, I am using a USB Adapter Cable (USB 2.0, IDC 5 Male (single row) to USB A Male) on one of my front USB ports, for the USB data channels.

Once I have tested this a bit longer, I will tap into the old BT USB data channels as described by OP and Kennyman. I suppose that if you did not want to go the route of splicing cable, you could purchase a PCIE USB card with an internal USB plug. Also, I will route the BT antenna out of site.

I will post the final setup once I have some time to do so.

Continuity/Handoff, Airdrop, Phone calls all work.

I just received my adapter from here today and with 08 MacPros it does work without the usb connector. These guys are also great with customer service and get back to you very quickly. I highly recommend

Here are some pictures after installing my card from OSXWIFI. As you can see everything is working and there is no need for the USB cable on the 08 MacPros and it is the same card as all the others. I Highly recommend using them, in total it cost me a total of $95 for the broadcom card, mpcie card, extra antenna. If you have an 09 onward it will be $5 more for the usb cord. Hope this helps people, if you have any questions just ask. I also made my 11 Macbook air work with just a newer card.

I do not work for osxwifi.com I only used them to order parts.

Haha, that's cool. So finally the 4 antennas in the Mac Pro 3,1 are all in good use then?

By the way, so the keyboard and mouse even work in the EFI boot menu?
I ended up placing another antenna since I snapped the connector off the 4th antenna when putting my original wifi card in awhile ago. (oops)

The keyboard and mouse should work in efi, I don't have an efi card in right now but since you asked I would be more than happy to swap it out and get an definitive answer for you. Realistically there is no reason it wouldn't since it is apples card. But I will definitely get back to you.

**Just checked for you and yes efi works just fine with bluetooth keyboard and mouse** sorry I had to throw an old card in to check for you.

Ok, so I got my kit, installed it, and it works like a champ. WiFi is working about twice as fast (I have it in a horrible spot, so this is a great improvement). Bluetooth works, but have a USB keyboard handy as you will need to remove all your bluetooth devices in systems prefs, and re-pair them to get everything working.

Comments. No instructions came with this. They really should do a one pager here. I used this forum OP's to see which antennae wires need to be plugged in what spot. MacVidCards provides a BT antenna extender, it works great.

What I like about this upgrade is it's basically like a stock machine, and I don't have to drag a USB cable outside the machine to plug in. You just plug in the min jack connector where the OLD bluetooth chip used to plug into. I just left the old bluetooth chip screwed in, but unplugged, even though you dont need to do that.

The antennas are a bit of a pain to snap in. They thread through a nice holding clasp, but I would and did remove them from that clasp as they torque to much pressure with the new card, and having them outside the thread/holder makes it a bit easier to place the antennas without them touching one another.

I got the part really quickly. So minus the complete lack if instructions, this was a really good upgrade. Thanks MacVidCards!

The darn fast shipping is the problem.

We did a photo shoot for install and are trying to get it online.

May have to have a dropbox download until site gets refreshed.

If anyone else gets one before we do, the BT antennae goes on "J3"

Make sure the extender gets snapped into the little clip so the brass point can't short onto board. (or wrap in electrical tape)

Be patient and careful when plugging the USB/BT cable into logic board, the side with the wires goes UP.

Just take your time and move it around, it will go in when lined up right.

The antennae wires themselves are a pain, nothing I can do about that. If you have sausage fingers, find someone with smaller ones.

Glad card works well.
