It has nothing with being cheep. Windows 7 comes with a better back up solution, plain and simple. Stop making excuses for Apple's misgivings, especially when there's such a premium for using it.

I think you meant misdeeds or mistakes. I think you misunderstand the purpose of TM. The full version of Win7 will run you $300, so there's plenty left over for picking up a back-up program.

With respect to both platforms, I've worked on Win 3.1 and a Mac Plus. I've had the opportunity to observe both platforms evolve over the years. One decent back-up solution is hardly enough to tip the balance.

And you've never said one negative thing about Apple. Your bias is apparent.

Of course I have, maybe you're too blind to see it.

Do we need a discussion on what bias is? Everyone is bias... that's ridiculous to base an argument on the fact that someone holds some biases. At least attack their credentials.

Of course the dude has a bias. He has a bias against Apple. He doesn't like Apple and he makes it apparent in his posts. This is an Apple fan site, not an Apple bashing forum. If he needs a place to channel his energy there are numerous sites where he can hang with people who dislike Apple.

You have no bias whatsoever, clearly. Everyone has bias, the OP is not the first Mac user impressed with Windows 7. The two aren't mutually exclusive. It matters only to each individual user, that's all.

I would also venture to guess that a lot of Mac users on here that bash Windows haven't gotten to play around with Windows 7 enough to be making any judgements. That was not directed at you Goona, just a general guess.

Dude you've never said one positive thing about Apple since joining this forum,

This is a demonstrable lie. But again - if you don't like what I have to say and are incapable of not reading my posts, please, by all means, use the forum ignore facility.

If I am so against apple - why do I live in a three mac household, with a Time Capsule, an iPhone, and am petitioning work to switch to i7 iMacs?

You seem very very insecure. Are you so worried that Apple can not stand justified criticism?

Grow up.

Got Win 7 Home Premium on an HTPC underneath my telly, use it for both DVB-S and DVB-T. Fantastic solution, works really well and really thought out. Far better implemented than any other solution be it linux/other pc programs like MythTV/mac - EyeTV can't touch it - WMC blows it out of the water. Don't even have an aerial in the telly anymore it's just the HTPC via HDMI as a replacement STB.

But my main machine at home is a macbook which I use for my emails and web browsing, got me through 3 years at uni. It's still far quicker to boot than any windows machine I've ever used. But for a lot of things having a windows machine is still handy, particularly if you're interested in things like homebrew on video games consoles.

I'm not arsed either way but it does hack me off that a PC needs blanking every 6 months. Then again it's a good way to make sure the media centre stays optimised. Think W7 was a fantastic step forward, although the black screen of death last week wasn't much fun.

Why does it matter?

The main problem is that there are Mac users who've done that, but they're often automatically considered Fanboys and are not believed.

...It was a total immersion into Mac OS X culture, Starbucks, and a new Bohememian wardrobe from Urban Outfitters.

I don't know why this almost sounds like a racial stereotype to me. I have never been into that Star*ucks Urban Outthingy culture btw.

Again - demonstrably a lie - please, stop telling lies about me. It's rather rude.

As I said - if you really lack the ability to not read one of my posts, if that level of self control is something you lack, feel free to use the ignore feature. It's REALLY not that hard to use.

 Stereotypes are stereotypes. No race need be involved. So good for you for breaking the mold. However, you played right into what the OP wanted. Had you taken the time to read the thread before replying you would know that.

I was a Mac user from 2005-August 2009.

It started out with my dad buying a new family computer for Christmas in 2005, the 20" iMac G5 iSight. The most decked out iMac at the time. I loved that thing, and still do. We still use it as our main home computer, and it is still serving us incredibly well. We bought it with Mac OS X Tiger.

In the spring of 2006, the new Intel MacBooks came. I wanted a laptop for general usage and school, so I bought one. I bought the Black MacBook because I thought it looked awesome. It came with Tiger.

To keep the story short, the MacBook got replaced with a MacBook Pro "Penryn" model with Mac OS X Leopard in February 2008. I was very happy with the MacBook Pro, and still consider it superior to the Unibodies today when it comes to features and looks. However, Leopard was a huge disappointment to me. While overall it was stable, it took significantly longer to boot than Tiger, had a confirmed wireless instability problem specific to MacBook Pros and MacBooks with the certain wireless card, and overall wasn't as snappy as Tiger. Not to mention the drivers Apple provides for Boot Camp are total ****. Not only for the graphics card, but for everything.

In August 2009, with Snow Leopard coming up and a new school year coming up, my needs changed and I sold the MacBook Pro to my brother for 1100 dollars. I decided to wait for Windows 7 to come out to buy a laptop because I figured that's when computer manufacturers are most competitive and I don't want any upgrade troubles.

Windows 7 comes along, and I decide to go on the web and research everything. I decide to go with the HP DM3-1030us, with the specs in my sig. It has Windows 7. I was weary that it may not get the job done and the OS may bog down my system, but overall it has been an incredibly smooth transition. This laptop does everything I need it to, and Windows 7 has satisfied my needs. I feel that while Snow Leopard fixed a lot of issues that came with Leopard, Windows 7 did the same with Vista. I find both OSes to have their strengths and weaknesses.

Windows 7 hasn't crashed on me, and overall has been a pleasant surprise. I definitely find it better than Leopard, I am not so sure about Snow Leopard. My brother hasn't had any major problems with it but has pointed out some bothersome UI glitches. I definitely think Tiger was when Apple was at it's peak with customer satisfaction, quality control, and Mac OS X.

So am lying that all you write are negative things concerning Apple. Prove it's a lie. Show one positive thing you've said about Apple.

Here are three.

You may now apologise and retract your claim. Take your time.

Haha see he isn't completely against Apple! He likes the trackpads!

No but djellison, I think you need to realize that he isn't going to yield to you no matter what you say. And he needs to let you post your frustrations with Apple on an Apple forum site and realize that forums can be about the good and the bad. I am sure you have lots of nice things to say about Apple but you feel no need to post about them when tons of others already do. But come on guys just let it rest! :)

I'm afraid he's told flat out lies, proven lies, about me. I will not let this rest till he apologises for that. Sorry - it's a matter of principle.

Get a ****ing grip! You meet people like this in life. He hasn't physically harmed you or caused any real distress. Just get on.

I've been a Microsoft user since Windows 2.0/Dos 3.3 and of Mac since OS7.5. For those 13-14 years MS always been way, way behind the Mac OS but as once I'd installed Windows 7 beta on a test rig and then on my MBP they're neck and neck for the very first time - they both have their strengths, for example for audio and Video work it's Mac with Logic and Final Cut but 7 has the essential windows apps I must use and the brilliant Windows Media Center, the only diamond there was in Vista now polished into the best HTPC interface I've seen yet.

I love them both, perhaps even 7 a bit more but it would be a dead heat if Apple put the same effort into making some quality boot camp utilities & drivers for Windows to the same standard of their applications for Mac and their brand overall.
