Sorry for not knowing this answering but what is the difference between 5.0.1 and 5.1.1? What makes it worth the trouble of resting my phone and re jail breaking? Yes i know you can back up your JB tweaks and such. However, from prior experience I have always gained a headache from restoring and re jail breaking. So what is the OMG I must have the JB 5.1.1 feature?

Ran Absinthe 2.0 and ran the jailbreak until the bar was completely full. Then went back to iTunes and restored from back up.

I'm not seeing Cydia though  Did I do something wrong?

If you get this error: "Something seems to have gone wrong...trying to recover. Recovery completed. If you want to retry jailbreaking, unplug your device and plug it back in", or similar.

Then,
1. Restore iDevice using iTunes - Go to iTunes, click on iDevice on the left then restore (or shift restore and select 5.1.1 firmware, if you have already downloaded firmware).
2. After restore is complete, click on the iDevice on the left and make sure it connects to iTunes store.
3. Load up Absinthe and click jailbreak.

Tried that and still not working. Absinthe 2.0.1 for me.

I honestly do it just to start over fresh and hopefully the magical battery saving unicorn will find its way to my phone.

google the iOS 5.1.1 change log, its mostly enchancements, but you're at the latest OS, which is the way to be.

IPhone 4s not working with absinthe 2.0 it does good until the iPhone restarts then the jailbreak freezes up:confused::(

do you have a passcode on?

I'm seeing some conflicting information...the redmondpie article claims appletv2 is covered while the read me included with absinthe 2.0 shows it as not supported.

hmm looks likeseason pass has been updated for apple tv 2's on newer iOS

Trying to just jailbreak my iPhone 4s on 5.1.1 without having to restore, backup or anything. Keep getting an error using absinthe telling me that it recovered fine, but it never jailbreaks. Have tried several times, no luck. Any suggestions? Don'tt want to restore unless it is the only way to do it.

I backed up all my data via iCloud and did a fresh restore and setup my Phone as new. No issues, if you don't find any answers I would say this is the way to go.

Okay, received the "restore complete" message on Absinthe after the first try.

I only wiped the phone using the "erase all content and data" option in the settings app however.

Now I'm trying a restore from iTunes itself. Only question I have is, if I set up it up as a "new" phone, once the jailbreak is complete will I be able to restore from back up?

I was having trouble, after the reboot it would just pause. I changed sync cables and usb ports and managed to get a 4s jailbroken, but still not working on my ipad 3 (set up as new).

I did install 5.1.1 from the ipad update settings itself, so I'm downloading the firmware and going to try restoring through itunes and trying absinthe again...hope that makes it work.

My ipad 3 i run absynth 2.0 twice and don't pass from Waiting for process to complete

So I downloaded the windows version of absinthe did a clean restore on my new ipad on itunes. Then I opened absinthe it opened a bunch of things scrolled on the screen really fast then nothing else happened. I got no option to jailbreak.

Anyone having this problem?

This happens the first few hours every time a new jailbreak is released. Just give it a few hours.

Thank you. My first ever iPhone is the 4s, had it since the first day of the release so I'm still getting used to all of the iOS stuff. And no, I'm not 12 years old.

This is the same problem I'm having. Jailbroken, but no Cydia.

Anyone else having this problem ?

It made a new folder with the real absinthe .exe in that folder. The new folder should be in the same folder where the .exe you clicked was.
