Sorry, little advice. If I'm not wrong go with 3 modules for each tower, that way it will use 3 channels instead of two, resulting in faster data traffic . Maybe someone could confirm that.
Slot 3 and 4 share use the same channel.

Therefore, install 4 DIMM (assume single processor) will always use all three channels. There is no other choice for the computer.

"Use all DIMM slot will make the cMP fall back to dual channel mode" is impossible.

You should know that MacPros only accept ECC Modules.

And yes, three is the magic number. Unless you really need that much RAM for your application and don't care about the somewhat lower performance...
ECC is not a requirement.

Hi guys,
Couldn't find any topic about that, so I really hope to find some help.
I could notice after upgrading my cMP 5,1 to Bir Sur (OC 0.7.9) my memory modules are getting into conflict. I have three 8gb modules in each tower (OWC modules) properly installed but no matter what combination you try, I'm always getting a red led lit on the second tower.
Does Big Sir have anything to do with that? Really weird, never had an issue with memories in 10 years.
Anyway, this problem doesn't looks list HWAccel related.

Memory issue (that red light) usually happen right after power up, before the OS start to load. Therefore, should be OS version independent, and not related to HWAccel.

If you can't find a existing thread that fit this question. May be you can open a new thread for it.

Has anyone got Airplay Display working? I understand it typically uses the QuickSync hw encoder on intel integrated GPUs, but some modern Macs which support airplay display out of the box (i.e. the 2019 Mac Pro) don't have integrated gpus (and therefore QuickSync), which implies that a gpu encoder based Airplay does exist.

No solution yet, possible due to those models use T2 for Airplay Display.

So far, I've only seen one Hackintosh user reported that his Xeon setup (no iGPU and no T2) can use Airplay Display. However. there is no picture, video, or any other prove / evidence in that post.

Therefore, I can only consider that's not a valid info.

I HATE that "security" chip.

Huh? Airplay receiver doesn't work?? I've been using it fine since I installed Monterey. Video and Audio work. I'll attach some proof. Sorry for the bad shots, had to use an iPad to record since iPhone was AirPlay to Mac Pro.

Alright so it looks like if I use Chrome I can "cast" to my TV. However if I use Airplay itself, only the audio plays on my Airplay device.
Video / audio isn't a problem. There is no transcoding / encoding required. The cMP just streaming the original media file to the Airplay device direcly. As long as the device itself can decode the media file, then it can be played flawlessly.

What doesn't work is Airplay desktop. Initially, we believe that require HEVC hardware encoding. However, so far, AFAIK, no cMP (and iGPUless Hackintosh) user can stream out the desktop via Airplay properly.

Trying to install Monterey with the latest opencore package. I have the VMM flag enabled for Monterey however, when i wipe the drive to install fresh Monterey wont that remove opencore?
Erase (format) the APFS partition is fine. Erase drive will remove OpenCore.

Therefore, it just depends on how you do it.

FYI, I just updated from macOS 11.6.5 to 11.6.6 on my 5,1. No issues. Standard Apple update with no OC changes required.
