This happened to me. Patience. I got distracted on another system and looked over and it had booted into recovery. Perhaps several minutes.I am getting just black screen with CMD R on startup with rx580
Did you check the console log after reboot?

GT120 can boot Mojave, but not GT120 + another supported GPU.
Mojave don't work with mix-matched NVIDIA + AMD GPUs and don't work with a GTX 780 + 120GT at the same time, all sort of troubles.Any supported GPU? Or just a non-nVIDIA GPU?
So is there no way in Mojave to have one GPU hooked up to a tiny (under 10") monitor for boot screen capability and a 2nd GPU for normal (i.e. hardware accelerated) use??
Does not work with Titan on 10.14.6 beta:
Titan is NVIDIA.
The kext and this entire thread is for AMD acceleration. It is not expected to (and won’t ever) work for any NVIDIA card.
What has never worked in Mojave? The hardware acceleration? I doubt it has ever worked in the previous versions.+ it never has worked in Mojave
with the patch. Without it, there is no hardware accelerationWith the patch or without?

I’d wonder if this was a thermal issue or if the power draw was too great on the mini 6 pin power. Then again without more details we may never know.Which GPU? Which software? Any crash log? Reproducible?
I tried this JellyFish video and both my GPU Nitro+ RX570 8GB and CPU handles it with ease. Thanks for all the tests. Just download VLC nighty build. It can play this video smoothly on the PULSE RX580 (but GPU usage 100%, not as easy as Radeon VII's 20% loading).
So, IINA isn't that good for playing extreme high bitrate video.

Wonder why your 580 use 100% GPU while mine (570) is only around 25-40%:
