I’m not concerned about the look of the iPhone 11. I will be holding off waiting to see if the Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity improve. My XS has been horrible compared to my previous 8+.

The only thing I can think of offhand that would make it a definite upgrade would be usb-c, but I don’t foresee that this time around. Still, I can dream. USB-C all the things!

I am starting to see why people resist upgrading and keep their iPhones for 2+ years. I have been upgrading pretty much every year since iPhone 6 Plus came out and after looking at what I use my iPhone for daily it just makes more sense to hold onto my XS Max for a while. Just like with my iPad Pro

I'll be keeping my iPhone X for AT LEAST another 2 years. Performance is great, camera is very good, and overall I'm very happy with the phone. I used to be an "upgrade every year" guy, but the last couple years I haven't seen a big enough incentive to do that. I can definitely see the attractiveness of getting the latest and greatest though ...

Interesting ...

I wonder if this is where their inspiration came from.

Could be, the three lens design is really starting to grow on me.

I like the retro aspect of the design.

Lighting is still too relevant for USB-C to be predominant with the iPhone. If anything, Apple might provide an adapter to start the transition, but there’s no indication that lightning will be abandoned in favor of USB-C altogether as it currently stands.

Oh, I do agree. Of course, I thought the headphone jack was pretty relevant too. Like I said - I mostly know it won't happen - but it's still nice to dream, and it would definitely make me upgrade, since most of my life is USB-C already. (My laptop, tablet, camera, external SSD, external keyboard, monitor, all use USB-C primarily.)

Instead of upgrading, i'll just buy a used Huawei p30 pro phone for 150$, and duckt tape it to my iphone XS and then i'll have the best cameras on the market on "one" phone. No need to wait for Apple to bring out that monstrosity

Yeah, I was so hoping for USB-C this year, but sadly it again won't happen. At least the provided cable will be USB-C to Lightning this time ;)

The camera's will have to be amazing and the screen will have to be 90Hz or more for me to switch from the X. Just like with the XS, I'm afraid the upgrade will be very small coming from the X.
The XS is the first time sinds the iPhone 5 I didn't upgrade to the newest model as it was such a minor update for such a high price. This year it might happen again if Apple doesn't have something up its sleeve. No USB-C, still the exact same front with the same looking screen with the same size notch, probably no more 3D Touch. If it doesn't have a faster refresh rate on the screen and only slightly faster internals and a better camera..... I don't see any reason to upgrade.

Nope. For the 2nd year in a row, I will not be upgrading and will stick with my X. I used to be one of those people who upgraded every year, but I did not see the point in going from the X to the XS/XS Max and this year's update (if the rumors are true) doesn't seem worth it either, especially with that design.

Seems like an excuse to raise the price another $200. The design of the camera protrusion is hideous.

So reading through my news stories today I keep seeing stories show up about the leaked iPhone 11 images. I hope this is not true because I think the design is ugly and not “Apple Like”. If you haven’t read the articles or seen the pictures, check out the link below. Do you share the same thoughts as me or do you like this rumored design? Will you be upgrading?

I only upgrade if there is a 1 TB storage option and/or 5G modem in it. 512GB is outdated for my use.

I may get a used device later just like I did with my XS. I didn't preorder knowing my X would be perfect for a few years. I'll do the same this time, I just don't see a reason for yearly updates anymore unless the price is cheaper. It really has nothing to do with the device itself.. such as how the new one is rumored to look. They just cost a lot and i'm not made of money. And even though this is my job, programming, I don't need the latest and greatest.

No, not unless my iPhone 8 breaks. The newer phones are all larger than what I already have and I don’t like that. The XS isn’t a whole lot larger but they cost too much imo. Apple doesn’t want my money anymore :(

Launch day 8 Plus user. I upgraded every launch day from the 3G to the 8 Plus (didn’t like the width of the X). I skipped last year for the first time as I didn’t feel the Max justified the price (for me). If the camera on this year’s version of the Max is a significant improvement I’ll upgrade for sure.

Nope, switched to Android this year. Found out Android 9 was roughly equivalent to iOS and the Android Q Beta shows an even narrower gap. It'll take being able to set a default Phone Dialer, Messenger, Browser, Map software, Photo software, &c to lure me back. Plus more affordable new models.

On one hand, it's about time for my 6S.
On the other hand, my 6S does everything I could want a phone to do, so we'll so how it's speed and battery are holding up in September.

Not sure yet.. They gonna have to bring more to the table than just "Cameras"

What would you suggest that they actually bring to the table other than the triple in the camera this year? I mean, Face ID was a huge breakthrough, stereo speakers, True tone, wireless charging, what else are you expecting for Apple ‘to bring to the table’? I Only ask, because you leave your post open for questioning, being you didn’t explain it.

I actually preordered the Max and used it for a week. It was WAY too big for me and I had just come from the 8 Plus. I have huge hands and it was too much of a bump in screen size. I’m usually using my phone with one hand too and the 8 Plus was manageable but the Max was basically impossible. I absolutely love my X and believe it’s the perfect size. The only thing I’d change is widening it maybe a little but not a deal breaker.
