I just wanted to post an update on my reduced ANC with the latest firmware. I am traveling home and will pickup a replacement set of APP on Tuesday, but for now the ANC is definitely reduced. When I first got these several months ago, the ANC was great on an airplane. Currently, they do reduce the hum of the air conditioning a bit, but nowhere near the ANC from before. Tried the suck method again and it didn’t seem to help. Looking forward to my replacements, but a bit worried I may still end up with reduced ANC after some use. BTW, I wear my APP when running on the treadmill, so sweat may be a factor.

Update to the Update: Got my replacements at the Apple store today. Hardware 1.0.0 and firmware 2B588. Can't tell if ANC is as good as originals purchased back in November, but both pass the fit test now. Hoping for an updated firmware soon.

Mine used to say "good seal" in the Ear Fit Test but now it does no matter which ear tips I use. I don't notice much sound quality degrade but it seems to be a bug with the test results or the Airpods Pro themselves. Anyone else?
Read the discriptions of the failing inward-NC – its not a passtest/software bug.

(Buyer beware) Tried a set of foam masters memory foam ear tips. Long story short, stick with the stock apple tips. The foam did not create any better of a seal then then the silicone. They use an adapter to allow the tip to fit to the ear pod. While the adapter fit nicely, the tip did not want to stay on adapter. It would come partially detached just from trying to adjust it. These retail for around $30 so not a matter of a cheap product (didn’t try the cheap alternatives because I wanted quality). Needless to say within 10 minutes I’m back to the stock tips. My app still pass the tip test (4th set now) and have good bass and anc. Just tried the new tips to see if they were better. THEY WERE NOT. Don’t waste your money.

Also read where Apple actually pulled the last firmware update down because of bad anc. Have a new set of app for a week and still running 2B588. Was trying to figure out why they didn’t update saw in a different site it said firmware was pulled down because of glitches. I don’t believe it is rolling back the ones that already updated.

The changes occurred literally with the release of a new software version. people seem to have already forgotten this.

I was sceptical at first but there’s definitely a hardware issue. The fact that sucking on the vent (temporarily) resolves the issue proves as much. As soon as I start hearing my voice prominently much more often when it’s in transparency mode, I know that the fit test is going to fail almost every time (right ear only) and that I'm going to need to suck to clear the vent.

No - its the same problem with the degrading of inward-NC (and indicating failing seal-test) from Day 1.

I am totally on the fence now about whether its hardware or software...it may be both. Maybe Apple will surprise us with a firmware revision and hardware tweak over the next few weeks. They still continue to roll out stock though

mee too.

What if they'll come out with an hw revision? will they change ALL the unit sold? it is impossible.
Probably the best thing is to return if we're still in the returning window and wait for something to happens..

Probably not as Apple will say its a tweak to improve performance and not a fault.
If within the return window then yeah sure, take them back and exchange them

I believe its two issues. A hardware issue with the air vents and a software issue that has reduced the NC.

They pulled 54 version of the firmware and 88 is now the latest. Unsure if this is related, but wouldn't be surprised. Not that they will ever own it.

Has anyone tried cleaning the vents with adhesive putty?? I am wondering if using this to clean the vent grill would be affective. I am going to try using this every couple dahs and see if it keeps the issue from occurring. Would also show if it is a valve issue or a clogged vent.

I've only had mine for about 4 days(took about 6 weeks from order to delivery)and I've already noticed problems with them. I've used them maybe a half dozen times.

1. The left AirPod battery seems to die at a rate of 2 to 1
2. Not only does the right AirPod fail the little test almost every time, regardless of tip size, it very frequently doesn't even register being in my ear. So music will only come out of the left one. Even when the test fails and they are both "working", they sound amazing and equal though.
3. When they are "working" the ANC seems to drop in and out, or weaken, it's hard to describe. Cleaning the black vents that rest against your ear did do away with that problem instantly but the other two issues remain. I used isopropyl and Qtips.

Uncharacteristically unhappy with the product; not interested in getting on the return\refund treadmill especially given the waiting time. May just return and stick with gen 2's.

Uhu Patafix helped cleaning since AP (1) and also with the APpro – revitalizing the inward-NC and that is approved with passtest…

I would not do this. I almost got some blue tack stuck in them. Since then I’ve stuck to a little alcohol and q-tip to clean them

Hi guys, did anyone experience the thing as me. Long story short:

i gave my app 2 times already to apple official service provider and those guys ^]%]% always say they are okay, but they are not: when i enable either nc or ambient and make a bass shout like i am talking loudly on my phone - the right earbud gives a "bzzz" sound which is annoying, meanwhile when i change to Off - everything is okay - no issues. It seems an issue with microphone, the music is playing good but if you speak with bass it always do "bzzz", which make nearly impossible to do voice calls.

we do not have official apple store at my olace but i will be in Bangkok in 2 weeks and i would like to show that there and exchange at least right earbud.

and of course i tried all the tips, and the test fails with each one.

With Patafix there ist no blue tack – its proved.

I would not use alcohol because the coating will get damaged.

Instead of alcohol, I use Whoosh! screen cleaner to clean my APP. I spray it on a microfiber cloth and wipe everything down. Seems to work pretty well.

Where exactly are people applying the "suck" remedy (ear-side, or outside on one of the 3 black panels?) and what exactly is it supposed to fix that causes the seal to fail? I can't pass the tests anymore either.

My Airpods Pro just failed the seal test on my right ear for the very first time. The thing is, this was just after I used alcohol to clean the tips. Maybe this shrinks them?!? I know I won't be using alcohol again to clean them.
