I got the Space Grey, as I was impatient to wait for the blue ones. I like the sound quality, although I wish they were a bit louder.

I just want to echo what someone else from the UK posted here. Ordered Space Grey (said delivery within about 3 weeks) and they shipped within about 18 hours with next day delivery. I guess YMMV but Apple appear to have (some?) stock despite what the website says

A few posts have made this observation, but I listen to my APM at half or less volume. It was accidentally on high volume once when I was getting used to the headset, and found the top setting uncomfortable. I would be worried about worsening my noise-induced hearing loss/tinnitus listening to mine at high volume. I wonder if different units vary in maximum volume for some reason?

I like my music loud but I can’t play my AirPods Max at maximum volume as it’s just far too loud.

I read many posts stating this too, I'm 34 and from being in band in High School & College/a rock band/enjoying loud music for years, I'm sure I have a bit of hearing loss, and I didn't feel like they were not loud enough at all. Below 50% I think they're kind of quiet, but they start to "wake up" around 60-70% but above that I feel like they're pretty darn loud and I can't listen to them at that volume for long.

Alas, my blue APM have been stuck in Memphis (at FedEx hub) for the last two days. This nasty weather is really wreaking havoc. Anyone else in the same boat?
Yea I think they are temporarily suspended due to weather. I have a return that I shipped back to apple via Fedex, I sent it out on Saturday and it's been stuck in Memphis, TN since Sunday. Normally if I ship something out on Saturday, it gets to Memphis, TN on Sunday and does move on Sunday afternoons. But every day I get the Fedex service alert. I really hope sometime tomorrow or next week they will start moving. I'm sure they have back logs of all package. I will phone Apple next week to let them know what's going on since it's a return product. I have the receipt of when I dropped it off with tracking number.

Oh wow! Congrats!!!! Ordered mine with engraved last Jan 31, est Mar 31, fingers crossed...
Fingers crossed for you! Are you waiting on blue too? I wonder if the stock has just come in and so yours might just take an extra day or two for the engraving.

My email says arriving tomorrow, but Apple tracking page says Monday. Argh, why does there potentially have to be a weekend in the way lol.

My blue APM has been shipped! Only ordered 11 days ago (UK) so this is awesome! 😊
gg lol 😅

Congrats! Apple's been kind to the UK. First it was SG, now blue seems to be making that leap as well. Enjoy it when it arrives. 😁

I can only hope mine is hanging out in memphis (or somewhere else states-side) waiting to come north. That was one heck of a snowstorm down there.

Yea. Right now at the Memphis, TN hub nothing is moving at all and it's been like this since Sunday.

And, more importantly, there is still no indication when things will finally start moving. FedEx could certainly do better at communicating, if only to say that “the weather in Memphis isn’t expected to break until ___” or “we hope to be able to resume shipments on _____, weather permitting.” The silence is deafening.

Yea heard to say, I get the Fedex Service Alerts mail on a daily basis telling me that there is a server weather impact alert. I've been told that no planes are flying in and out of Memphis, TN.

I can’t imagine Apple’s pleased that their supply chain is essentially crippled. You’d think they are hammering fedex & ups to find alternatives. Then again, maybe there aren’t any (that would make a measurable difference).

Up here we usually get some stock every week. There’s been nothing at all this week at Apple or retailers.

Yea. I don't think Apple can do anything about this when it's the weather that is effecting the Fedex/UPS services.

I think that's why most apple stores aren't getting shippment but once Fedex and UPS is back on it's feet, i'm sure stores will start getting them too.

Thank you. That’s far more than I’ve heard from FedEx. The remaining question is when the airport/FAA estimate that outbound flights will resume. Looking at the weather on the Weather Channel, it seems that things should have cleared enough to support outbound flights by now. Admittedly that is not the same as an aviation weather briefing. How did you sign up to get FedEx Service Alerts?

Heads up for those whose APMs are stuck in FedEx limbo in Memphis. I just spoke with FedEx and they said flights are still grounded and they have no idea when they will get clearance to resume. Then on the news a minute ago, they said flights have been canceled in Memphis due to water pressure issues. So there we have it. Even though it seems that Memphis is better off than Texas, things are still a mess there, at least at the airport. I’m sad for all the folks affected by this miserable weather. 🥲

Tough news. I’d imagine they’ll have to consider trucking some volume out of there, sooner than later. Keeping those lengthy delivery estimates is working in Apple’s favour at the moment.

Definitely a shame that those folks are still suffering from this storm. Hoping their weather improves quickly so they can get their utilities back online.

Addendum to my note above. It turns out, according to the Memphis International Airport website (flymemphis.com), the water pressure issue impacts only the passenger side. Quoting a post dated 2/19 at 5:30 PM, “Cargo carriers operate out of different facilities and are not impacted by the passenger terminal issue.” So it’s not clear WHAT the problem FedEx is having with shipments that have been sitting on the ground at their hub for 5-7 days. Grrrrrrr.....

Sorry to hear those of you across the pond are still being affected by the dreadful weather. If it’s any consolation, we’ve been having pretty cold temps and more snow than we’ve seen in years here in the UK recently. I’m more than ready for spring now!

I was very lucky to have my blue APM delivered on Friday - they weren’t due until end of March! They look and feel very premium and even nicer than the stock photos on Apple‘s website. As for sound, well I’m very pleased to say they are just what I was hoping for. Lovely amount of detail and a solid low end - I do like bass and though these are definitely not in-your-face with it, you know it’s there. Been playing with various EQ and headphone accomodation settings and it’s a bit of a tie between stock sound and slightly balanced for me. Handy that you can use the hearing shortcut in control centre to toggle the headphone accommodations on/off.

I bought a new headphone stand to store them on as I am worried about the mesh headband warping without sufficient support. I also added some silicone cup covers as I do not like how they clang together when taking them out of the case. Added a couple of quick snaps of the stand and APM - I quite like it for a cheapie and it will do as a stop gap while I wait to see what 3rd party manufacturers come up with for case designs etc.

Here’s the link if anyone likes the look of the stand: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07NPF1GJ4/

And the silicone covers. A bit annoyed that they aren't the same shade of blue as the headband, like in the Amazon pics, but they still look nice. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08SJ2GG1C/

I do have an account with Fedex so I get them but I think I only get it because my apple return is still stuck in Memphis, TN. It was supposed to be delivered on Tuesday, 2/16/2021. I still have til this Friday for Apple to receive it but I'm going to phone Apple about the situation and see what they can do.

Also I know who works at Apple who has a friend that works at Fedex HUB in Memphis, TN, and likely been told that nothing will move till Sunday (Today), this was couple days ago when I asked that apple staff about it. We shall see.

Seems like your friend’s info might be accurate. I checked on FlightAware and there’s a flight from Memphis to Toronto scheduled for later this evening (FDX 148). Based on available history the route operates almost every day, but hasn’t been flown since last Saturday. This lines up with Mem airport’s grounding of flights this week.

No guarantees any APMs will be on that flight. Though if it goes ahead, there shouldn’t be any reason why other flights won’t as well.

CORRECTION: I misread the dates on that FlightAware page. Flights (although heavily delayed) did depart Memphis on Wed-Sat this week. So I guess we’re back to square one on why we’re seeing these delays... 😕

Yea I just checked my status and now it's in transit so looks like it's back on business.

Edit: btw it's not my friend. My OP said I know who works at the apple store has a friend, so that friend of that employee. 😂

Indeed. My FedEx status changed to Departed FedEx Location Memphis at 4 AM. No further tracking since then.

Great suggestion to check FlightAware. Dang. If only I could remember where other shipments from FedEx went when they departed MEM. I am showing a FedEx flight from MEM to MHT (Manchester NH—a major feeder airport for BOS Boston) that’s enroute but an hour or two late. Hopefully, that’s the flight my APMs are—pretty sure it is because I’m certain my past FedEx packages did not go through Boston Logan and FedEx doesn’t appear to have flights to BTV (Burlington VT). There was also a FedEx flight from MEM to ALB (Albany NY) but it departed MEM at 3 AM and arrived at 6 AM in ALB , so that probably isn’t the flight they are on; no later flights today MEM-ALB. Anticipation.... 🤪

Out for delivery! Wah-hoo-wah! Finally! Hopefully, the rest of you will experience the same.

FWIW, until I got the update email from FedEx a few minutes ago (Monday AM), there was zero tracking information from the time my package departed FedEx location in Memphis at 4 AM on Sunday and there is no information still about where it was during its travels. So, their fabled tracking system must also have been down--that or they shipped my package by ground directly to the FedEx station in Williston VT.
