After contemplating for a super long time, I bit the bullet and went ahead and purchased my first Airpod Max today! I'm Deaf but I wear bilateral cochlear implants which allows me to hear. I was talking with other cochlear implant users to see if they have liked these airpod max with their processors on. I've seen one cochlear implant user commenting and saying they liked them. So, if I feel like these headphones doesn't work for me with my implants, I'll return them. I didn't want to miss out on the 2 week return policy through Apple, so it made sense for me to buy directly from Apple instead of Amazon, Target, Best Buy, etc. But either way, I'm super excited to see how these will work out for me! I hated using my cochlear implant branded mic which is a clip on that you can connect to the processors wirelessly to listen to different things, it didn't sound great to me and always preferred something that plugs in directly into my processors or something over the head. Airpod Max delivery date should arrive within the March 11-18 delivery date according to Apple!

Hopefully you will love them. I bought mine from Target and they gave me 3 weeks of return window :) good luck!

Thanks! I probably would have bought the airpods from a third party seller if I was not a Deaf Cochlear Implant patient haha. I didn't want to risk with any issues in returning them with third party sellers so it made sense for me to buy directly from Apple anyways. Especially since I'm going to be experimenting with the APM and seeing if they actually work for me with my implants! Keeping my fingers crossed that they will work well with my implants.

Keep in mind that Amazon has a 30 day return policy. A few of us have managed to catch a deal on open box Max. Plus the great thing about those is that there in stock when you order so you’ll get them within a couple of days. So not only are you saving money on them, but you also getting them more quickly.
I thought about that too. But I'm ok with waiting. My APM delivery date is estimated to be between March 11 and March 18th. So that's about a month from now. It didn't seem like a long time considering that I have to wait a little bit longer to replace a part for my implants sometimes (a coil replaced, battery, or a whole new processor or earmold). Plus I'm working remotely at home for the time being due to this pandemic so I'll be ok too!

Second set of Space Grey arrived at 10am. Ordered on Wednesday direct from Apple(U.K) so lightning fast delivery. I can’t put my finger on it but these feel a lot more comfortable then the first set.

yeah it should be shrink-wrapped. Was the outer box the same ones youve seen in the youtuber unboxings?

you can see it here https://www.iphoneincanada.ca/reviews/airpods-max-review-vs-airpods-pro-worth-the-450-premium/

The Apple box should be shrink-wrapped. Just for comparison, I bought my APM "used" from Amazon (at a $102 discount). The Apple box wasn't shrink wrapped and was sealed with Amazon warehouse tape and there was an Amazon sticker on the front about the product having a second life. My APM had all their wrappings and were pristine.

B&H should not be sending you an open box unless that's what you chose.

I know people have different experiences but personally I don't buy anything except cheap accessories from B&H. I feel comfortable buying from Amazon because of their customer service and return policies. Ditto Apple.

Well done, you.

Good! You should definitely get at least a 15% credit. Used-very good condition have been on sale at Amazon for ~450.

Eh, not great but I guess better than nothing. If you are comfortable with getting one used (and I say that generously as I got one "used" from Amazon in what ended up being pristine condition for 425), I would suggest keeping an eye out on Amazon as they have had daily warehouse returns that are around 10%-20% lower than retail price. I would keep yours in the meantime and return them if you happened to find a better deal. I may even consider calling B&H directly and blasting them for this to try and get a larger discount. Or just hold onto the pair you got if you really don't mind. For me it would mainly be the principal of it.

I nicely told them a $20 e-gift card isn't going to cut it and I'll just return them and they said they're expecting more in a week or so. I said ok send me a set when you get more and send me an RMA, they did.

I don't NEED these, but yes it's the principal, I bought/expected new, and they were "open box."

Understand completely man. Sorry you have to go through this.

sucky situation but wipe them down and give it a listen until you need to send them back. You could always give them a call to see if they can increase that amount.

i would have tried for free applecare+ or enough to cover it, but it sounds like theyll at least send you a new pair when they get them so that seems fair.
Just to follow up on this, I returned them to B&H and they received them and received a new shipment of them, so my replacement pair was shipped out yesterday and I'll be receiving them tomorrow. Hope these are actually sealed.

Someone a few weeks ago suggested if the clamp force was too strong try stretching out the headphones a bit on a box/speaker/books. I used my xbox series x box (lol) to stretch them out for two hours and it's made a noticeable difference in the comfort level for sure. A lot of that headache inducing clamp force is gone. I also found the cushions a bit itchy so I need cleaned them thoroughly and let them air dry. They really are quite nice now. Still on the heavier side but getting more comfortable the more I use them. Sound quality is fantastic.

Heads up, a silver pair up on Amazon warehouse for 400 bucks

Blue APM ordered from US Apple Store on Dec 17, with arrival projected for Feb 17-Mar 3 have just gone to PTS. Charges for the APM and for associated AppleCare show as pending on my Apple Card. Tangible progress at last. Now waiting for shipment notice.
Could be dicey because of the nasty weather forecast for next week throughout most of the country. But at least there is light at the end of the tunnel.

When I ordered on 08 Dec it was mid March. Soon after they moved it up to end of Feb - early March where it was stuck until now. They just changed the date to 18 Feb. FedEx.

Apple seem to be catching up now. Great stuff. Enjoy guys, sound and battery life is incredible. I charged up to 100% on Friday. 7 hours use and the rest in low power mode and after three days still at 79%

I finally received my replacements from B&H yesterday and open up the box and this set is brand new and sealed.

I‘ve been listening to them for about 45 minutes now and I’m pretty impressed. I understand what people are saying about clamping force, but I’m assume they‘ll loosen up as time goes by. Or I’ll do the trick people suggest and stretch them out with some books or something.

All in all I like them so far, sound quality is great, ANC seems to be fantastic as well.

Mine are coming FedEx Priority Overnight from San Bernardino, CA—so shipping from US stock, not coming from manufacture in China. This improves the likelihood of a timely arrival.

Delivery supposedly Monday 2/15 but with the weather it could be later. Here’s hoping it gets here Monday, as projected, because the snow that’s bogging down the middle part of the US is coming here Monday night into Tuesday.

Just got notice from Apple that my blue APM ordered Dec 08 have shipped from Ontario.

I’m hoping this indicates they’ve built up a decent stockpile on this section of the globe. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly they advance through blue orders.

Also (selfishly) keeping my fingers crossed that stores will receive some of this stock. Wouldn’t mind jumping the cue... 😉

Alas, my blue APM have been stuck in Memphis (at FedEx hub) for the last two days. This nasty weather is really wreaking havoc. Anyone else in the same boat?

Yeah mine was in Kentucky but got delayed as it was supposed to be delivered today. Not sure if it has made it to the Chicago hub or not for delivery tomorrow...the storm was a good one

Mine arrived yesterday (16th) on storm day. Blue from Apple in Canada. They shipped from Ontario. Ordered Dec 8th. 60% battery at box opening, so had a pleasant afternoon working with them on. Very nice.

Lucky you! The problem in the US is that both FedEx (Memphis) and UPS (Louisville) have their major hubs in cities in the South, which usually improves on time performance. However, when snow and ice hit, Southern states are woefully unprepared. A snowfall that would be barely a blip in Canada (or Vermont, where I live) can tie everything in knots for days, if not a week. I just hope this storm doesn’t massively delay vaccine shipments, but I fear it will.

mine arrived earlier this morning after being a day delayed due to snow storm. Cliff note version of my thoughts so far: they are heavy in the hands, yet they feel light on my head and keep my ears comfy like ear warmers lol. So far for the past 5hrs-ish of using them for work and listening to music, they are great and sound better than the AirPods Pros. You can't beat the portability of the AirPods Pros though.
