Finally getting movement on the APM SP! Should arrive by Monday, March 15th. I'm super pumped and excited to see if these will work out for me!! I'm sort of quietly hoping they'll arrive tomorrow or Saturday — I paid for Express delivery (which was all they had when I originally ordered the APM SP). Super excited that the APM will be literally my FIRST over the head headphones that I've owned so far as a Deaf person with bilateral cochlear implants! 😁 Keeping my fingers crossed that they will work!
My credit card has the 'pending' charge on my APM. So hopefully they'll get shipped tonight and delivered tomorrow or saturday. If not, I'm excited for the estimated March 15th, Monday delivery date for the APM! Definitely itching to get the APM in my hands already!

Nice. My guess would be that it's possible it could be coming directly from overseas. Not sure if it's from Vietnam or China (I know that Vietnam now makes airpods pro).

Where do you look for the serial? Isn't that the order number? If so, my order number starts with a 'W', so I'm not sure if that indicated anything as to where it's coming from.

No. The serial number is on the device, not the order number. Serial number is just a unique ID for the device but most of them are made in China anyways. Just wait for the tracking number and then it will show you the origin scan will be.

Finally got my APM today!! The APM arrived around Noon (United States EST time). I got way too excited and tried them on with my cochlear implants. Holy crap! The headphones are amazing! The sound quality of the headphones with my implants on are fantastic. I was a little bit worried whether or not it would sound different to me compared to wearing my special headphones that plugs into my cochlear implants, but amazingly enough — they sound exactly the same! On the funny side, I actually had to turn the headphones down halfway. I usually have the volume on max because with my special headphones, I can't hear the music very well halfway and normally have it all the way up which is like the normal sound level for most people. But with the headphones on, it's the total opposite.

On my cochlear implant, I have a big battery and a small battery. The headphones isn't covering the big battery on my ear, but you can't really see it since it's behind my ear, but i can feel it sticking out of the ear cushion a little bit. The smaller battery works better if I were to wear the headphones. I normally don't wear the smaller cochlear implant battery because I felt that the smaller battery wouldn't get me through the day since my cochlear implant processor sucks the life out of the battery pretty quickly. I only have one small battery so I may consider purchasing a second small battery just for the headphones. But the ear cups itself is covering the entire ear with my implant on, which I'm relieved about!

The headphones are extremely comfortable. Even with my implants on. The ear cups are a little bit tight, but I'm used to that because as a kid I used to have to go to audiologist appointments a lot and get my hearing tested and their headphones were really tight on my head. So the APM 'tightness' didn't really feel a big difference to me when I wore the audiologist's headphones for hearing testing. Man I'm so excited about these headphones. The transparency mode messed me up. I wasn't sure if I was listening through my implants or through the headphones. The noise cancellation is amazing though! I wish I had noise cancellation with my special cord, but wow these headphones is going to make a major change for me by not having to take my implants off, plug them in and then get the dongle and plug the cord in, etc and make sure they're working.

The one thing I did notice was that when I added the APM on all of my devices (Macbook Pro, Apple Watch S6, and iPhone 12 Pro) the audio did begin stuttering and cutting in and out. I wasn't sure if the APM was having issues with bleutooth connectivity since more devices are being added on or not. If I had one or two devices connected to the APM, it works fine without stuttering music/audio. But more than at least 3 devices or so made the APM sutter. Then the APM couldn't connect to my iPhone after disconnecting it from my watch and I did a quick reset on my APM and connected it to my phone. So I think I'm just going to keep the APM on devices that I use the most for now, which is my Macbook Pro and my iPhone 12 pro. I did hear that there's a new firmware update for the APM, so I'll probably update the APM this afternoon while I'm working on things for work.

I literally ripped the box open and got the APM connected and played with the APM for about an hour and it has far exceeded my expectations and literally just made my mouth dropped as to how much amazing technology I missed out on with headphones due to my hearing loss and cochlear implants. I was just utterly speechless. When I spoke to Apple last week about the arrival of the APM, I told them that these will be my first pair of headphones I owned ever and Apple got really excited for me and they said that this was one of the reasons why they made the APM, was so that it can accomodate everybody and have people be able to enjoy airpods in general. The APM is ridiculously expensive BUT as a deaf person with cochlear implants, These headphones are pretty cheap to me considering that cochlear implants are about $7,000 PER EAR (that's with insurance too). So, These APM headphones are definitely worth the purchase for me!

This is terrific news! So glad these work for you!

You may want to experiment with the sound modifications via the Accessibility<Audio/Visual<Headphone Accommodations. There's a kind of basic EQ you can do OR you can use a custom Audiogram. I thought my sound was terrific before turning on Headphone Accommodations, but after creating a custom audiogram (mild age-related hearing loss) the sound clarity and presence is just amazing. It's easy to toggle headphone accommodations on/off so you can quickly compare to see which you prefer.

Thanks! I'm super excited to get to play around with the APM more. I didn't know that the EQ sound modification existed on the iPhone. Will doing this work across all devices (Macbook Pro, iPad, apple watch, etc) or just on one device? Since I never really messed around with the audio/visual accommodations for headphones before, I'm curious as to if the modification would work across more than one device while it's connected.

I'm currently charging up the APM right now out of it's smart case. I'm hoping that this'll allow the headphones to update to the new firmware since I noticed that you can't really update the firmware like how you normally would update the iPhone's firmware or the iMacs firmware. I have a bit of work to do this afternoon so hopefully once 5:00pm hits here (it's about 2:40pm right now here), it'll be updated. If any of you guys have tips on headphones for a 'newbie' like me, send them my way! :)

Well, Apple says "When using automatic device switching with your AirPods, your custom audio settings will transfer between your iPhone, your iPad, and your paired Apple Watch (on watchOS 7), but they won't transfer to your Mac." I don't know, because so far, I've only used my APM with my iPhone. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211218

Custom audio settings are only supported with AirPods and AirPods Max. If the device supports Spatial Audio, it should support custom audio settings.

Currently Macs and Apple TV do not support custom audio settings or spatial audio. I expect that to change with new generation hardware.

Thanks! This is good to know.

APM hasn't updated to the newest firmware yet. So I'll probably leave it alone once I go to bed tonight. But other than that, I've been wearing it all afternoon so far and loving it! :)

Put an order in for Best Buy last week, but it was looking like they weren’t going to ship till April. By some stretch of luck, Amazon got an absolute ton in yesterday (every color was in stock next day shipping at one point or another) and I got an order that will be delivered Monday. Already shipped.

Glad everyone starting receiving theirs as delivery has improved to 2-3 weeks...it feels different without the apm for a week when you are accustomed to...mine was faulty, hoping next week my replacement will arrive

So i was able to score an open box one from Amazon at a really good price. When I go to check the warranty coverage on checkcoverage.apple.com website, it states that "purchase date is not validated". How do I check the remaining warranty left on my AirPods Max and can I still add AppleCare+ for them? Thanks.

Yes, you can add AppleCare+ to your APM. You just need to have your serial number and receipt/purchase date handy and call Apple directly. They will then send you a link to purchase. (Several of us have had to do this with Amazon open box returns.)

I did the "register AppleCare" option and called. https://getsupport.apple.com/?caller=home&PRKEYS=

My local Apple store just got the blue in stock, so I placed the order locally. Will pick up tomorrow. Man they are definitely expensive, I certainly hope I like and get a lot of use out of them!

Picked up my order today, quite impressed so far with these. Been using them for a few hours. Watched some marvel movies on Disney+ to see how the spacial audio sounds, listened to music, etc. I think I sort of understand the case a bit now, sure I get the meme jokes as well but the case isn’t as chintzy as I thought it would be. It’s small and compact, and I wouldnt worry about using it for traveling as I’d likely keep these in a carry on anyways to get quick access to them, not buried in a checked bag or anything. For that I’d want a more protective case. Automatic switching works perfectly for me, listen to music on the iPad, watch a youtube video on iPhone, back to music on iPad they pick up everything I’m trying to do seamlessly (for iOS devices anyways). And somehow I’m already on the 3C39 update so that happened pretty quickly for me with no action on my part. Next test will be being able to use them with my work laptop for teams meetings using the 3.5mm cable as bluetooth is disabled on my work computer. Yes, they are really expensive, but they are good enough so far that I’m not sitting here worrying about how much they cost..

That 3.5mm cable ain’t cheap either.

I watched a few reviews on YouTube of the cable, and the complaints were about how thin it was & cheap feeling for the price.

I had no issue with that. My issue was the length, which maybe passable if connected to an iPhone on your person. From a desktop or laptop you may want to consider an extension cable instead. Something to consider at the time you pick up that $35 cable. There is lower priced official cables from Amazon warehouse, but a few days longer shipping.

Ugh. I already got the cable, just haven’t opened it yet. I hadn’t seen much info on it.. thanks for the heads up!

Got incredibly lucky! I've been wanting these for a while. My love of my AirPods Pro convinced me that these were the right choice... never paid even close to this much for headphones before. I had been waiting for my old pair of headphones to finally kick the bucket (had been hanging on by a thread - literally)... well they died just yesterday.

Well as luck would have it, I woke up this morning to find AirPods Max in the color I wanted, Space Gray, in stock and ready to pickup at my local Apple Store!

Going to be a long day at work today waiting to pick these up at 5:00!
